“This lodging would be great for an overnight stay, but I would not recommend it for longer use. While the staff was very responsive, it seemed like some basic maintenance of the rooms was needed.” Jun 23, 2008 by
Janet
“Change the pillows and I would like everything about this hotel.” Mar 10, 2008 by
James from Chicago, IL
“Nice hotel, I would love to see some work done on some of the walls that looked as if they had seen better days. The staff was very nice and was able to help in getting me everything I needed. The staff is by all means an A number 1 team.” Feb 7, 2008 by
Joe from Chicago, IL
“It wasn't bad, met the expectations we needed, got free breakfast in the morning and had cable at night. Liked it.” Feb 5, 2008 by
Joyce from Joliet, IL
“The advertised a heated pool but the pool was very cold. Good breakfast but no trays to bring it back to your room. Overall good hotel for the money.” Nov 21, 2007 by
Toni from Republic, MO
“Our expectations were met with two exceptions. One the manager of the hotel stepped in when the person checking us in gave us false information. Because of her diligences, we got our room at the time we needed to check in. The person who checked us out was equally slow and rude. I attempted to use the business center and could not connect to my office. The computer has no virus protection. On the other hand, the location is great, right off interstate I-55. The hotel facilities are immaculate. The remaining staff was customer oriented.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Cassie from Tinley Park, IL
“Great place to stay in Bloomington/normal. Far enough out of town that you don't feel caught in the college scene, but close enough to visit. Great new shopping near by. Clean, well kept with a friendly staff.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Maryann from Carmel, IN
“We had a great experience at the hotel. It was a little out of the way to our activities in Bloomington but the access to the highway was good for traveling to the other side of town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I found this to be a good value.” Jul 16, 2007 by
Tim from Downers Grove, IL
“For what we needed, a Visit to ISU with our son, it was fine.” May 30, 2007 by
Shannon from Waukesha, WI
“Liked the hotel, but over priced for day and time visited. Would stay again.” May 22, 2007 by
Thomas from Westmont, IL
“I was expecting a room with 2 double beds and was abruptly told there were no rooms available after the reservation had been made.” May 17, 2007 by
Jim from Wheaton, IL
“Great hotel for the money. Only two negative things: my room was not ready when I checked in (at 4:30 p.m.) So I had to wait in the lobby for 15 minutes. Also, TV is not good. Only about 9 stations, and the lodge net movie selection was only 7 movies. Other than that, a great experience at this hotel.” May 3, 2007 by
Bill from Rockford, IL
“I have stayed at this hotel twice and was not happy with my service both times. The front desk staff was not friendly and the rooms were not on-par with other hotels in the area. I am a business traveler and stay in many hotels around Illinois, Wingate ranks low to middle of the barrel.” Mar 12, 2007 by
John from Eau Claire, WI
“An average hotel for its type. No special flaws nor any unique features or services. ” Mar 5, 2007 by
Deb from Arlington Heights
“The room that I was in had ants, the caulking that held up the sink counter was in desperate need of repair, the caulking around the tub was cracked and had mold, and the tub was badly rusted and damaged. The fridge had not been cleaned before we arrived. It still had food from a prior stay. On the date of checkout, housekeeping about broke the door down at 8:30 a.m. Then came and knocked twice more before 9 a.m. After a late night, I was hoping for another hour of sleep before I was awakened. I expected a lot more. I wasn't happy.” Feb 18, 2007 by
Laura from Wheaton, IL
“The staff seemed unable to adjust the room type from the standard king to a room with 2 double beds. It took 4 phone calls on my part. Also, on one of my nights in the lobby, the staff was milling about and playing on the computer.” Sep 26, 2006 by
Kelley from Long Grove, IL

“I would not recommend this location to anyone. From the check in to check out I was not impressed. The person who checked us in was not dressed professionally, it took several attempts to get us checked into a room and he could not even make our room keys correctly. The condition of the bathroom was terrible. The room felt damp and musty.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 14, 2006 by

“Hotel needs updating. Paint peeling, wall paper falling off. I had no towels or wash cloths. Disappointed!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 5, 2006 by

“This was a great hotel. My children and I stayed there for one night and they had a great time swimming in the pool. We were pleased at the long hours the pool is available. Overall a great place to stay.” Jul 18, 2006 by
Mindy from Helmsburg, IN
“An inviting lobby but the room fell short. Peeling paint in the bathroom, lots of concrete in the view with a lively bar next door.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 14, 2006 by

“Although Wingate hotels have been a great place for business and pleasure in previous stays this one needs either a new facility or a new staff. We were given a room that reeked of cat urine. The staff knew about the problem beforehand but still booked us in that room. To their credit we were given another room without any problem. Our new room had mildew on the wall in the entryway. Another traveler told me he had asked for a different room because of the mildew smell in his room. The complimentary breakfast was cold. Ants and miscellaneous bugs crawled across the counter where the forks and plates were. The counter was dirty, the toaster did not work, the waffle iron fell on you as you wrestled the cooked waffle out, etc., etc. The lady in charge of the breakfast moved at the pace of a sloth with agonizing joint pain. The place was a sad sight to see and no guests should be booked there until the problems are addressed and corrected. I hope Wingate removes this hotel from its roster or corrects the problems there. It is a very bad reflection on a superb chain.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 11, 2006 by

“Room was very nice. Only two bath towels. Was located near the highway. Gravy not hot.” Jun 25, 2006 by
Tim from Allentown, PA
“See above. Change the rating to 1 star.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 19, 2006 by

“Clean, comfortable and friendly hotel, with every amenity a family could want. Like having microwave and refrigerator in the room for our "snacks". Easy to find by the interstate. Highly recommended.” Jun 3, 2006 by
John from Madison, WI
“Took me an hour to get the reservation straightened out. Wingate Corporate doesn't seem prepared to handle same day. Once I got the confirmation number all was fixed.” Apr 25, 2006 by
Anita from Piper City, IL
“I was very disappointed with our stay. We felt very unwelcome and unimportant when we arrived. We arrived around 9pm and there were no other customers in the lobby, the staff was obviously not overwhelmed with other guests. I have been a sales manager at a hotel and I would have been embarrassed had any of our guests been greeted and treated the way we were. I understand that with a full hotel, staff will be busy, but they need to remember why they have a job in the first place and that is because of the guests. Unfortunately, I felt that there was nothing that could be done as I went through a third party.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 9, 2006 by

“It was a little more than adequate, clean enough, friendly and the complimentary continental breakfast gave me something to fill up with in the morning.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 13, 2005 by
Lynn from San Jose, CA
“Very pleasant, clean, efficient staff, well managed. Close to freeway access and routes to everything necessary. Only drawback is not enough pillows, only 3 small pillows for king bed and bed linens are rather worn out. Laundry facilities are a plus and are clean and seem rarely used by other guests. Local calls are free.” Oct 12, 2005 by
Nancy from Naperville, IL
“Nice new hotel - helpful clerk @ the front desk - very noisy late night bar behind the hotel - could hear it in my room till about 2 am” May 23, 2005 by
Maureen from Auburn, WA
“I asked for 2 rooms, 2 beds each nonsmoking. I got 2 rooms, one bed each, smoking and water stained in the corner, with wallpaper peeling. I had a severe allergy attack the next morning and have (after 1 week) finally recovered. Their response "If you book on line and do not follow up with a phone call, you get what you get..."” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.
