• Bad location; rooms not 2.5 star quality.

“Location good only for travelers continuing south to Chicago. One room was missing phones; the other had a door that closed only with effort. Not a 2.5 star hotel, sorry!”

• New desk clerk.
• Bad room - smoky. Bad Breakfast - out of food.

“Poorly stocked breakfast buffet. Non-smoking room smelled like a smoker's convention had lived there. Too pricy much for this quality.”

• It had very comfortable beds and was very quiet and clean.
• They offered a full continental breakfast but at 9:30 a.m. They had nothing available but juice.

“I really liked this hotel for its clean, quiet, and attractive appearance. The beds were very comfortable and well endowed with big, fluffy pillows, which is something you usually only find in a four or five star hotel. The staff was also friendly and courteous. For a moderately priced hotel it is a great choice.”

• The motel was clean, quiet and had a decent breakfast.
• Parking lot was not plowed and the entrance was blocked during a snowy day.

“A bit off the beaten path, this clean, quiet and fairly comfortable motel provided a nice variety of breakfast foods a newspaper and the morning news to make for a pleasant visit.”

• 24 hour pool was great.
• Only location.

“The hotel is in an excellent location if you want to gamble at Dejupe, but other than that, it is two far south. I did like the clean and newness part of this hotel, staff was good, and I loved the fact that the pool was open 24 hours.”

• It was easy access to the highway.
• The staff were unprofessional and the hotel was dated and dirty.

“We previously stayed at Wyndham Hotel in Illinois and had a fabulous experience. This hotel in Madison was an awful experience. The staff did not know how to check us in and put us on an all smoking floor. It took us almost 20 minutes to check in, and the hotel was dingy and out dated. We stayed less than 8 hours, and left before 7 a.m. the next morning. ”

• I chose this hotel as my almost last chance. If there is an alternative, no recommend.
• Even though it is relatively cold place, the heating was not so good.

“Good only at emergency situation. Otherwise better to look for other choices.”

“Although this hotel was off the beaten path and wasn't close to any dining locations, it was a reasonable hotel stay. The staff were very nice and very accommodating”

• Quiet.
• It took 20 minutes to check in because the front desk was empty.

“Anyone who thinks this hotel is in the central Madison area has been smoking crack, it's in another county. Once the guy showed up, he was nice enough, but really, I doubt I'll go back just because of the location.”

• The Business Center was a huge convenience.
• The bed felt like one you find at an Econo Lodge.

“It wasn't a bad place to stay, but it was somewhat disappointing for a 2 and 1/2 star hotel. The in-room furnishings felt out-dated and cheap. The staff was friendly and the hot breakfast was good in the morning. Still, for the business traveler looking for a good night's rest, I'd look elsewhere.”

• Easy to locate. Staff extremely friendly & helpful. Very quiet within rooms. Breakfast was excellent!
• Highway noise.

“Rooms were fairly spacious, clean and quiet. Hotel staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not the usual dry donuts and coffee but included eggs, sausage, waffles etc, Easy to locate, but there is highway noise due to it's location. Pool and whirlpool were clean, but very chlorinated. Overall a great hotel and would return again.”

• Our floor (3rd) was extremely noisy with high school students from Seymour WI.

• Nice lobby area, fitness room, and pool.
• Extremely dirty bathroom in our room! Appeared to be dried blood on bathroom door, hair in shower, hair on floor, tub would not drain.

“Location good for overnight sleeping when traveling, however no restaurants close. Bathroom in our room was extremely dirty! Hair on floor and in shower, tub would not drain properly and water backed up into the tub. There appeared to be dried blood on bathroom door. We arrived late and did not have time to get another room, I couldn't shower and was very unhappy.”

• Person dealing with the morning breakfast was friendly and helpful.
• That your staff at counter did not know the English language very well.

“Thought that the staff at the desk/front should be knowledgeable and be familiar with the language of the country they are in. Morning person at desk could not relate information to us real well. But other than that most of the staff were helpful and friendly.”

• It had 24 hour pool and sauna.
• The desk person on Days rude not helpful Money hungry.

“I had called early in the morning to request nonsmoking and a late check out due to the fact I would not be arriving until 6:00 on Sunday morning. He refused to give me a late check out the desk person on night was more than happy to give me until 1:00 p.m. When I went to check out the same day desk person made a comment about the check out time, then asked where I worked. I live 45 minutes from work it sure saves sleeping time when I can stay closer to work. I could not do that if I paid regular prices.”

• I didn't like the fact the fan in the exercise room did not work.

“The room was large and clean. Had a slight herbal smell that I really didn't like, but got used to once you were in the room. Great pool & hot tub. Easy to get to.”

• it was very clean and neat-pool and hot tub nice
• I'm 6-8 and the beds were about 8 inches too short

“I rented two rooms for two nights-one room was too hot and other too cold- thermostats didn't work to correct problem-staff couldn't seem able to fix problem either-waffle irons worn out and waffles stuck for everyone-no matter how much spray used-I would stay again if beds were longer”

• Extremely uncomfortable beds and pillows - overheard comments on same from other guests.

“Location makes it fast & easy to reach most destinations in Madison. Pool and hot tub larger than expected from website photo. Great breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, fresh waffles and more. Really saves money traveling with teens. Staff was very helpful and professional. Unfortunately, the pillows were very thin and hard, plus the beds felt like the old fashioned extra-firm variety. Room had microwave and fridge. Loved the double closet with doors. Includes a safe to use at no charge. Very nice property except for the pillows and beds.”

• An old hotel across the way is not the greatest view.

“This hotel has the amenities of a higher rated hotel, not sure why it's rated the way it is. Service was excellent, there's a pool, fitness center, free calling, wi-fi in every room, full breakfast, micro and fridge in our room, very nice. Only downside is there are no restaurants nearby.”

“Relative to the amount of money I saved by staying at the Wingate, the quality of service was very good, and it was a pleasant, clean environment. There was a complimentary breakfast, which had a variety of items. It is a little farther away from the central area of town than a lot of other hotels, but considering the money saved, it was an excellent hotel.”
