• Good location. Close to stores, restaurants and bars and interstate and Barnes an Noble.

“I travel a lot as professional violinist. I noticed empty conference rooms, and would like to know if I could use one for an hour to practice my instrument. I would need no set up or assistance, and would not disturb anything in the room, and I would like a discounted price. Everything else about the hotel exceeded my expectations. I appreciated the Wi-Fi, super fast connection speed, etc.”

• Very clean, courteous staff, interesting Frank Loyd Wright inspired architecture, and conveniently located near shopping ant restaurants
• Breakfast options somewhat limited.

“My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff, accomodations, location, attention to detail,and the overall experience of our two night stay, either met or exceeded our expectations. We will definitey consider booking another stay at this hotel on our next visit to Madison.”

• I loved the renovations.
• Not downtown but really only a 5 minute drive.

“Recently renovated and the result is wonderful! Atmosphere was very comfortable and friendly staff. Room was a little older but very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were new in the room with granite. I also loved this hotel because I was able to take my dog with me. Food was very good in their bar/grille.”

• That Starbucks offered a $5 breakfast.
• Starbucks ignored me and went to the man behind me for service.

“This hotel was exactly what I expected as I had stayed here before. The breakfast was a little expensive for two days, so I brought Starbucks % 5 meal which as satisfactory. My family enjoyed the spa. Yes, I would definitely stay here again.”

• Hotel has a nice location and very comfortable beds.
• Pool was under construction.

“The pool was under construction, which is an issue for someone with children wanting to swim. The hotel staff was quite friendly and set us up to visit another hotel pool nearby, even shuttling us to the hotel and back. This was a nice touch. Our room was okay, but didn't seem quite as clean as other rooms we have stayed in here before. I still wish this hotel had a complimentary breakfast. I would stay here again!”

• The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.

“Upon check in, we went to our room. On the way to the room, on 2nd floor, the smell of sewer was so strong, to the point of making me nauseous. We went back down to the front desk and requested a room on a different floor. They gave us room on the 5th floor. The smell wasn't apparent in the hallways on the 5th floor, but it was still very strong in the bathroom. We had to keep the bathroom door closed. The pool and whirlpool were both not in working condition. We were very dissatisfied with this hotel.”

• No in room amenities, microwave or refridgerator. Could not adjust the tempature in the room.

“This hotel is very limiting - it charges for even the smallest thing and offers no in room amenities - no micro or fridge and you can't control the room temperature either.”

“Nice comfortable up sale business style hotel. Large Mall & a variety of restaurants are is across the street. Although hotel was under construction while I was there, I did not hear any hammering.”

• The pool was perfect temp. Good for kids and us.
• Room was ok, would like to have a plasma newer decor.

“We really enjoyed the pool the best. The temp was 90 degrees and relaxing setting. Hot tub was too hot however. Nice game room. Room was ok but no door on suite. Wallpaper seemed a bit old in areas. Location was good off 90/94. Many restaurants and mall across street. Still was upgrading. Will be a nice place when finished.”

“Friendly staff, clean rooms, very comfy beds. The room was quiet although it look out over the pool. The pool area looked wonderful but did not get a chance to use it. Right across from the ETown mall and many restaurants. Have stayed there several times and is the hotel I try to get when going to Madison.”

“I was not there long but felt welcome and there were still people around so I was comfortable. I have never stay in such a nice warm felling room with even a small decorative pillow on the bed great touch.”

“The hotel was great. The construction part was a little annoying. It wasn't the noise or construction dirt (of which there was very little), rather the construction crews using the guest elevators and leaving things lay in the hallways. Construction crew was not at all professional.”

• Very bad odors in the room, bad AC, needed a guard at the front door.

“The facility is very worn, and the neighborhood must be bad if they need a guard at the front door at night. AC units were causing mold on the room ceiling, bad odors, lights that did not work, closet door that did not work, pool immediately off the lobby equals lots of water on the main floor and in the elevators.”

• There were a lot of small issues with the room: leak in pipes, TV didn't work, hairdryer did work.

• Clean and nice pool.
• The beds were terribly uncomfortable.

“My husband, a 180lb 5'10" man, and I a 135lb. 5' 3" women, who are of "normal" or maybe below the adverage for size, did not fit comfortably on the bed. It literally took me 2, yes TWO, hours to FINALLY go to sleep. Beds need to be a queen size.”

“This hotel is right off the freeway and quite convenient if you are just passing through. The staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. The pool area is quite large and my kids enjoyed it quite a bit.”

• Pool and hot tub absolutely fabulous.
• Refrigerator cost $15 a day; that is $450 a month! So we did without for 4 days.

“Business center, lobby area, pool, hot tub, fitness center just wonderful. Didn't try the restaurants because busy visiting family and going to our old favorite places, but looked nice. Friends said they held their wedding there. Room comfy, but would have liked a refrigerator on an extended stay like this. Could have bought one cheaper!”

“It was our 35 wedding anniversary, so we did a little shopping went over to Red Lobster for dinner, then went to relax in the spa/pool. It was a great experience. Except for all of the kids in the spa. But all in all would go again. Great value, great hotel.”

• Convenient location to shopping, restaurants and city center.
• Indoor pool is vented through room ducts which leads to high humidity levels in rooms.

“Would not recommend this hotel due to high humidity levels even with air conditioner on. Indoor Pool is vented through ducts that access rooms in close proximity. Humidity levels are really uncomfortable. We had to call in maintenance to fix a water leak in duct due to condensation build up. Room is clean and well kept but not comfortable due to the humidity level. You always feel a dampness in the air even with air conditioner on. Would recommend hotel if you like staying in a greenhouse environment.”

“I saw a sign that said the best beds in Madison, and I think they are right! I don't think I've ever slept so well in a hotel. It was very clean and had a nice indoor pool. Right across the street from East Towne shopping mall and near the freeway - very convenient. TV could have more channels. I missed my food network and other basic cable channels that most hotels have.”

“I have always enjoyed this hotel. The pools are clean and water quality is ok. This visit wasn't up to par. It started by getting keys to our room and discovered the room was already being occupied. This trip the beds seemed small and ants crawled on items on the floor.”

• Our group had a boardroom for free with our stay. It really made our meetings easier. Thanks.
• We needed to change rooms because of a loud humming. The staff was quick to oblige.

“Easy access to this hotel along with dozens of nearby shops, restaurants and a mall make this an ideal hotel for business travelers and families alike. The lobby was spacious, the pool as clean, the rooms met our expectations and the staff was friendly, courteous and prompt.”

• The hotel was well presented, even with upgrade work going on.
• This hotel shuts down at the weekend - no bar, no decent restaurant.

“The hotel is well appointed for the business traveler, available computer access, free Wi-Fi, close to the airport (30 minute shuttle service). The pool, hot tub and work-out facilities are good providing some means of relaxation.”

• Weak shower. Asked a king but had 2 doubles. Hotel was not anywhere near capacity.

“I like to stay at this hotel when I drive out east for a night. It is in a good location relative to the interstate and services. I am very pleased with the price but would not ever stay at this place. In short, it's a decent place with a great bed for an overnight stay. The shower in the accessible room they gave me on the return was too week to get the soap out of my hair.”

• The housekeeping and construction that woke us up at 8am.

“This hotel is very nice. My main complaint is that housekeeping came into our room at 8am and woke us up. After that we could not go back to sleep due to the sound of power tools, banging, and talking from the construction directly above our room. We were not told at check-in that there would be maintenance going on throughout the hotel and had to find out by a discreet sign in the elevator. After our complaints we received a free breakfast which was cold and we had to pay gratuity.”

• Restaurant too expensive.

“Hotel rooms were undergoing renovation, we could have been placed elsewhere in the hotel as certain room renovations started early and the noise from the machinery was not pleasant. Hotel room was very clean; the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant was a bit too expensive for us, but looked very nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.”

• Upscale feel; reasonable price; Close to variety of dining options.
• Not a thing.

“Fantastic. My brother and I share our love for Chicago Cubs baseball with his oldest (age 10) and my oldest child (age 9) for the last several years. Madison is a great stop over on our way to either Milwaukee or Chicago. A good location to spend the night on our way from or to home (Sioux falls, SD). The swimming pool is a definite plus and the quality of the room is first rate. Both my brother and I are traveling professionals and have stayed across the nation. We both agree that the Crown Plaza is among the finest accommodations found anywhere. Keep up the great work.”

• Bartender was very friendly.
• My room smelled strongly of sewage!

“Perhaps this hotel is a fairly nice place to stay most of the time. However, during my stay I was given a room which smelled strongly of sewage. I believe this was due to the construction occurring in rooms very close to mine, as I could not only smell sewage from an open toilet, but could also hear hammering and sawing very early each morning.”
