• Staff not nice, room filthy and unsafe, faucet coming apart, window did not lock, door malfunctioned.

“I would not recommend this hotel. It should not be considered a three star establishment. Mildew, broken locks, dirty carpet. Seriously needs updating.”

• Damp rooms border the pool area and smell moldy/mildew.

“The staff is very friendly and eager to please in general. Overall a great place. They really need to effectively address the damp rooms that border the pool area. I've stayed several times and about half the time I am assigned one of the damp rooms and have to be relocated to a non-damp room. The staff is flexible and have always relocated me when I have requested it. However, what happens when there isn't a non-damp room available for me to move into is a question on yet answered.”

• On our check out day, only 1 elevator was working took a long time.

“Great hotel that exceeds our expectations. Very child friendly, close to large shopping areas and many restaurants. Close drive to Downtown as well. Would highly recommend.”

• My truck window getting smashed.

“Would definitely not recommend a stay here. Two trucks had their rear windows smashed on the night of April 25. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they said they would sweep up the glass but would not vacuum out my truck. The staff member recommended a car wash down the street to clean out my truck. Both my wife and I asked to speak to the manager. We never received a call. We left a few hours after seeing the damage to our truck. I can't begin to describe the frustration we felt. The hotel staff treated us as though we were burdening them with extra work. And when I contacted the hotel's corporate office, I was told that the hotel is not responsible for any damages to cars in its parking lot. By the way, the room was noisy from the HVAC; the carpet smelled like puke; the bathtub drain plug did not work properly; the beds were lumpy; and the staff was horrible. Stay at this hotel at your own risk.”

“This is a wonderful hotel. The pool was warm and inviting, the lobby was attractive, and the beds are the best of any hotel I have ever slept in. I have a $1500 bed at home and these beds in the hotel were just as comfortable.”

• This hotel was so nice to come home away from home to.

“Very relaxing. Friendly staff tried hard to accomodate you and their positive attitudes rubbed off on the guests. Water was warm in the pool. Exercise room well maintained and a fan to direct as you desired.”

• The coffee.
• The deck and chair in the room was the worst for working on.

“If you have book work to do, a lot if it, the chair was not good. To low and very old. The bed was good, but pillows will you a bad neck.”

• I liked the location and quality it offers.
• I didn't like the fact that it doesn't offer a breakfast with the stay.

“The Crowne Plaza is an excellent choice for all types of travelers. It offers a great location, very comfortable beds and nice amenities. The staff was all courteous and helpful.”

• This is a nice hotel to stay at for leisure or business.
• Hot tub was not working

“This is a nice hotel to stay at to get-away for the weekend or for business. The staff is friendly. The only thing was that when we went down to the pool on Sunday morning, the hot tub was "under maintenance." But hopefully that doesn't happen too often. Overall, good experience.”

• Location and staff was helpful.
• The whirlpool in the pool area was out of service our whole visit.

“I would stay here again. It was close to lots of shopping and great dining. Easy access to highway. Hotel is very clean and pool area nice. I was a little disappointed by the whirlpool being out of order. I was really looking forward to relaxing in it.”

“Crowne Plaza is an older hotel that has been renovated nicely. Decor is warm and attractive. Quiet floor is a welcome innovation. Beds very comfortable as is room seating. Some problems with room temperature.”

• Very grand lobby, much unexpected for this star rating.
• I can smell cigarette on a non-smoking floor and in the room.

“Great hotel with a beautiful and resort like lobby. The room was spacious but very dry and poor ventilation. The room and bathroom were cleaned. Nice Decor. The cleaning crew comes around very early 7-8am and yells in the hall way: 'Room Service' and knock on every door. One can smell cigarette from somewhere, presumably from the vent even though my room is a non-smoking room on non smoking floor.”

• They need to remodel the bathrooms to improve rooms.

“Hotel is very nicely updated, but they cut corners by not replacing the doors and remodeling the bathrooms. It is still very nice, but you can tell it is older.”

• The pool looked very nice and in a great location.
• We called and asked ahead for a single bed - they said they'd try, but couldn't accommodate us. I doubt they were sold out.

“I stayed in this hotel a couple of weeks ago for business and thought it would be nice place to bring my family back to for a night. However this time our room was not very well kept (old, outdated) and overall felt less clean. I will avoid staying here again. There are just too many good hotels to stay in rundown old hotels.”

• I really liked the amenities. The pool and hot tub were very clean, elegant and open.
• Rooms were too conventional and the room was dull.

“The hotel is great. Very bright and open lobby with pool close by and open and bright. Bar was fairly active and had a DJ at times. But as is par for the course, the drinks were too expensive. I'd look to use the rewards group instead though because they can give a pretty good deal and upgrades are more available.”

• Bad place, to Embassy Suites, much better.

“This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed! The value would have been better at a motel 6! I have never stayed at a middle grad to high grad hotel that did not have a Free continental breakfast. We were given a $28 dollar bill for 2 breakfast's that we thought was a free continental breakfast. It was a small selection, no one helped us, and yet we had to pay this. We confronted the front desk, they could have cared less, we left a voice mail for the manager and an email, we have yet to hear back! The room was incredibly hot, there was no way to cool it down. They ended up bringing a tiny fan in, but still did not do much. I think long story short, this location is trying to live off the name of their other Resort locations and so they think they can charge an arm and a leg for nothing but a mediocre room and service! go ro Embassy Suites for great rooms, great service, plus a free made to order continental breakfast, also free drink hour at the bar.”

• They charged an arm & a leg for the continental breakfast! $27+ for two and it was a buffet style.

“This hotel location in my eyes is living off its name and the luxury of the other resorts. This is not a resort, but yet they feel they can charge as though they are one. We have stayed at hotels that have better staff, way better rooms, and a free breakfast made to order that is by far better than this place. I have had a better room and better staff at a motel 6! We will never stay at this place ever again. bad, so not worth the money.”

• It was not a 3 1/2 star hotel, maybe a 2 ½.

“Great location, early check in, late check out, forgot my toothbrush they gave me one. Beds were super comfortable with lots of pillows. Heat did not work so the first 8 hours were freezing cold as the maid left the window open and allot of snow came into the room making the floor wet. Maintain. Man came in and fixed the heat and from then on it was good to go!”

• The hotel is a little dated; the hot tub was very foamy.

“The staff was nice, the rooms are average. Parking can be a little congested, as well as the road in front of the hotel. The hotel is a little dated; ceiling tiles with water damage could be replaced above the restaurant. Hotel amenities are a little pricey. Pool is nice. Over all, the place is ok.”

• The air thru the duct work made a constant whistling noise.

“Upon arriving we were given a smoking room without being asked. When we denied the room, we were told the only way to get non smoking was to upgrade to a suite. We had to since my wife has strong allergies. We were not even offered a discounted rate and were treated poorly when we denied the first room.”

• We liked the pool and exercise facilities. The hotel had easy access and many local restaurants to choose from in close proximity.
• The bar area was dark. There are areas around doors, floors that need maintenance. Cable TV had limited channels.

“I would stay here again and recommend it to others. It has easy access from the freeway, close to a variety of restaurants (within walking distance) and nice pool and exercise room. Rooms are clean and comfortable.”

• The hotel had great front desk service. The rooms were very clean and I loved the different pillows provided for us.
• The restaurant service was very slow, however there was a blizzard that day and they were not fully staffed.

“It was a great value. Nice clean and comfortable rooms. Nice pool area and fitness room. The front desk people were very pleasant and accommodating. It was a very good experience.”

“Everything was good except that I had phoned ahead to request 2 double beds and was told ok, but when we got there our room had one king. We asked to be changed to a different room, but were told none were available.”

“This hotel was very nice and clean. The pool was bigger than most hotel pools, though we didn't have time to use it, only were there for the night. Easy access from the interstate. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful.”

“Location great. Nice exercise room. Staff not fully informed or did not relay needed information to guests. There was a huge snow storm that closed most of the town. This made dinner service to be 1.5 hours to 2 hours behind. Slow to get drinks at the bar. Situation could have been handled better. Lot took a long time to be plowed. Business center should have a sign to tell guests that outbound faxes need to be done by the front desk.”

• Nice lobby and morning coffee.
• Corridor and first room smelled like a sewer. We had to change rooms.

“The first room we were given (ground level) smelled like a sewer. It was intolerable. They did move us to a different room on the 5th floor which was better but still we got an occasional whiff of a very unpleasant odor. We wanted a room with a queen or king bed but were given one with a double bed and a sofa bed (1st room) and then one with 2 double beds. Will not stay here again.”

• Front desk staff was indifferent.

“Front desk clerk gave us a hard time getting a late check out of 30 minutes. She told my partner in a snippy voice. When we confronted the manager we were told this is not true and that any guest can request a check-out until 2PM at no cost, the manager was very apologetic and said that she would speak to the employee who gave us the incorrect information. Overall very nice property for the area, room was nice, great breakfast buffet with very friendly service. My only complaint was the desk clerk, but this would make me reconsider another visit to the hotel if in Madison for personal or business travel. This hotel is in area with many similar hotels, I don't ever recall issues with the staffs at those properties.”

• They made an obvious effort to provide every comfort they could think of that might make it a pleasurable stay.
• We had no complaints. The pool, whirlpool and fitness center were great as well.

“The Court Plaza is a fantastic hotel. They have outstanding amenities, the room was great and we will recommend this hotel highly to anyone we know that may be staying in the Madison area.”
