Cindy from Lincoln, IL
“Friendly staff, nice pool, clean rooms, close to restaurants and shopping.” Sep 8, 2008 by
Dave from Fogelsville, PA
“The hotel was great. The construction part was a little annoying. It wasn't the noise or construction dirt (of which there was very little), rather the construction crews using the guest elevators and leaving things lay in the hallways. Construction crew was not at all professional.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Neil from Rogersville, MO
“The facility is very worn, and the neighborhood must be bad if they need a guard at the front door at night. AC units were causing mold on the room ceiling, bad odors, lights that did not work, closet door that did not work, pool immediately off the lobby equals lots of water on the main floor and in the elevators.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Jill from Neenah, WI
“Hotel was very pleasant and pool area was excellent. I would definitely return to this hotel.” Sep 3, 2008 by
James from Louisville, KY
“I have stayed at this hotel before, and I find it similar to my previous visit. Clean, quiet and comforting. My only negative would be the construction (which when finished will be a nice lounge area).” Sep 1, 2008 by
Steve from Eau Claire, WI
“Currently being refurbished, this property is well located for the business traveler on the east side of Madison, WI.” Aug 27, 2008 by
Kristina from Wheaton, IL
“My husband, a 180lb 5'10" man, and I a 135lb. 5' 3" women, who are of "normal" or maybe below the adverage for size, did not fit comfortably on the bed. It literally took me 2, yes TWO, hours to FINALLY go to sleep. Beds need to be a queen size.” Aug 26, 2008 by
John from Antigo, WI
“Except for the construction occurring in the lobby and renovation to some of the guest rooms, this hotel was class all of the way. Exceptionally appointed and well kept room, very quiet.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Jay from Green Bay, WI
“The hotel offered great service, clean rooms, and all amenities a traveler could ask for.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Mark from Milford, MI
“This hotel is right off the freeway and quite convenient if you are just passing through. The staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. The pool area is quite large and my kids enjoyed it quite a bit.” Aug 24, 2008 by
Cleone from Bandon, OR
“Business center, lobby area, pool, hot tub, fitness center just wonderful. Didn't try the restaurants because busy visiting family and going to our old favorite places, but looked nice. Friends said they held their wedding there. Room comfy, but would have liked a refrigerator on an extended stay like this. Could have bought one cheaper!” Aug 17, 2008 by
Jeff from Hatley, WI
“It was our 35 wedding anniversary, so we did a little shopping went over to Red Lobster for dinner, then went to relax in the spa/pool. It was a great experience. Except for all of the kids in the spa. But all in all would go again. Great value, great hotel.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Bill from Oak Park, IL
“Great value for the money - clean room - no problems!” Aug 9, 2008 by
Chad from Streator, IL
“Very nice hotel, comfortable and quiet. Very relaxing shower in room. The pool area is very nice and also has a game room next to the pool. Great for kids!” Aug 1, 2008 by
Jeffrey from Nanuet, NY
“Would not recommend this hotel due to high humidity levels even with air conditioner on. Indoor Pool is vented through ducts that access rooms in close proximity. Humidity levels are really uncomfortable. We had to call in maintenance to fix a water leak in duct due to condensation build up. Room is clean and well kept but not comfortable due to the humidity level. You always feel a dampness in the air even with air conditioner on. Would recommend hotel if you like staying in a greenhouse environment.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Sherri from Evanston, IL
“I saw a sign that said the best beds in Madison, and I think they are right! I don't think I've ever slept so well in a hotel. It was very clean and had a nice indoor pool. Right across the street from East Towne shopping mall and near the freeway - very convenient. TV could have more channels. I missed my food network and other basic cable channels that most hotels have.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Sue from Superior, WI
“I have always enjoyed this hotel. The pools are clean and water quality is ok. This visit wasn't up to par. It started by getting keys to our room and discovered the room was already being occupied. This trip the beds seemed small and ants crawled on items on the floor.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Bob from West Bend, WI
“Easy access to this hotel along with dozens of nearby shops, restaurants and a mall make this an ideal hotel for business travelers and families alike. The lobby was spacious, the pool as clean, the rooms met our expectations and the staff was friendly, courteous and prompt.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Martin from Waukesha, WI
“The hotel is well appointed for the business traveler, available computer access, free Wi-Fi, close to the airport (30 minute shuttle service). The pool, hot tub and work-out facilities are good providing some means of relaxation.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Jeff from Oak Creek, WI
“Nice place would stay again.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Aaron from Hixton, WI
“Nice place to stay. Has everything you need and is close to downtown Madison, also easy to get to the interstates. Staff was great and was there if you needed anything. Breakfast had everything you could eat.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Mark from Hopkins, MN
“I like to stay at this hotel when I drive out east for a night. It is in a good location relative to the interstate and services. I am very pleased with the price but would not ever stay at this place. In short, it's a decent place with a great bed for an overnight stay. The shower in the accessible room they gave me on the return was too week to get the soap out of my hair.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Ab from Rock Island, IL
“This hotel is very nice. My main complaint is that housekeeping came into our room at 8am and woke us up. After that we could not go back to sleep due to the sound of power tools, banging, and talking from the construction directly above our room. We were not told at check-in that there would be maintenance going on throughout the hotel and had to find out by a discreet sign in the elevator. After our complaints we received a free breakfast which was cold and we had to pay gratuity.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Janet from Boynton Beach, FL
“Hotel rooms were undergoing renovation, we could have been placed elsewhere in the hotel as certain room renovations started early and the noise from the machinery was not pleasant. Hotel room was very clean; the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant was a bit too expensive for us, but looked very nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.” Jul 14, 2008 by
David A. from Parker, SD
“Fantastic. My brother and I share our love for Chicago Cubs baseball with his oldest (age 10) and my oldest child (age 9) for the last several years. Madison is a great stop over on our way to either Milwaukee or Chicago. A good location to spend the night on our way from or to home (Sioux falls, SD). The swimming pool is a definite plus and the quality of the room is first rate. Both my brother and I are traveling professionals and have stayed across the nation. We both agree that the Crown Plaza is among the finest accommodations found anywhere. Keep up the great work.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Jon-Michael from Bloomington, MN
“Perhaps this hotel is a fairly nice place to stay most of the time. However, during my stay I was given a room which smelled strongly of sewage. I believe this was due to the construction occurring in rooms very close to mine, as I could not only smell sewage from an open toilet, but could also hear hammering and sawing very early each morning.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Joe from Ada, MI
“I'll never stay there again. The hotel has its pool right in the lobby. This means a very nasty chlorine smell in the lobby and restaurant, as well as the sound of kids screaming throughout the hotel, even at 11 pm when we checked in. Additionally, the hotel uses a very strong coconut like fragrance in the rooms that literally made my eyes water and my stomach sick. I was hardly able to sleep. They said all the rooms had it, so moving didn't make sense. I think they use the stuff to try to hide the musty smell.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Gary from Ofallon, IL
“Exceptionally clean pool. VERY friendly, helpful concierge.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Tammy from Ballston Lake, NY
“They did give us a fan, since our air conditioning didn't work. They didn't have another room for us that was a non-smoking room with air conditioning. They did provide us with free breakfast at the restaurant since our air conditioner didn't work. Otherwise it was a nice hotel.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Kimberly from West Salem, WI
“We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza before and had previously been very happy however this time we were placed in a small room; and the hotel hallways smelled terrible. I didn't appreciate the staff not telling us about the smell which did come into the room. It was very disappointing for the price. I will stick with the 2 1/2 star hotels in that area they are much nicer and not so costly. So much for a romantic weekend.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Martha from Lyndon Station, WI
“Crown Plaza is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The swimming pool was clean, beautiful to look at, but the water temperature was too warm. I did tell the staff). Room was so clean (even felt good to walk around barefoot), and neat and the bed was very comfortable-with fluffy pillows. They have a wake-up call that you can actually rely on. Even free apples at the front desk. Couldn't even hear noise in the hallways. I love this place, can't wait to stay again.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Joe from Saint Louis, MO
“Beautiful facility, but bed made me feel I was sleeping on a cot. Backache by midnight, tried sleeping on the floor.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Cat from Colorado Springs, CO
“Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable beds. Clean, quiet, and has nice common areas. However, I must say that the food was hot (which is unusual for room service) and very good.” May 31, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Dollar Bay, MI
“I enjoyed most everything about the hotel. The staff when we checked in was very friendly and helpful. The people that cleaned our room were also very good and the room was always perfect for us.” May 29, 2008 by
Adam from Iowa City, IA
“Overall nice hotel, nice lobby, nice staff. Great price for a better than average hotel. Slightly dated decor in the hallways, wallpaper peeling a bit, sink was cracked.” May 28, 2008 by
Jim from Marshfield, WI
“I was satisfied because of the price. The staff was extremely friendly, and professional. A+. The room was C- old TV in a beat up entertainment center, Shower did not drain well. Pool area was a B. Would have scored an A if the whirlpool jets worked better.” May 28, 2008 by
Ryan from Fridley, MN
“Fine hotel. Nice lobby-pool area. Odd placement of pool right as you walk in. I probably would have felt a little self conscious with all incoming travelers being able to look into pool as they walk in. Nearby restaurants/shopping, but everything closed early. No place to get a bite after 11 and no place to get a drink after midnight. Hotel bar was closed. Comfortable if small room. Nice bed. Friendly staff. Would recommend.” May 27, 2008 by
Bozena from Silver Bay, MN
“I won't stay in this hotel, it was very noise, children were running late at night, somebody was coughing and clearing his throat all night next door it was very hard to sleep.” May 12, 2008 by
Jennifer from Oregon, WI
“Great pool and facilities. Very happy with this hotel.” May 8, 2008 by
Noah from Urbana, IL
“A group of five of us (three in late 20s, two in early 60s) traveled to Madison for a weekend of pub crawling and standing in line for tickets to a beer festival. We arrived at the hotel around 1 pm after stopping at the first brewery. The front desk graciously provided my wife, myself, and our female companion with a room but strangely could not provide the same for the old folks traveling with us. I think it's anti-retirement discrimination. So after we went out and got drunker we had to bring the old people back to our room to get their stuff. Room was cool. Had a fun sleep CD that made me giggle. Bed was comfy too, I think. Biggest complaint about this hotel is the pool in the front entrance. Who wants to see fat people in bathing suits upon arrival?” May 7, 2008 by
John from Shoreview, MN
“Very clean; enjoyed our short stay-hotel was very busy, but staff was polite.” May 7, 2008 by
Sally from Rhinelander, WI
“I would not recommend this hotel. It should not be considered a three star establishment. Mildew, broken locks, dirty carpet. Seriously needs updating.” May 4, 2008 by
B from Saint Charles, MO
“The staff is very friendly and eager to please in general. Overall a great place. They really need to effectively address the damp rooms that border the pool area. I've stayed several times and about half the time I am assigned one of the damp rooms and have to be relocated to a non-damp room. The staff is flexible and have always relocated me when I have requested it. However, what happens when there isn't a non-damp room available for me to move into is a question on yet answered.” May 1, 2008 by
Traci from Sturgeon Bay, WI
“Very nice place, with a great exercise room, a big pool, and friendly staff.” May 1, 2008 by
Jamey from La Crosse, WI
“Great hotel that exceeds our expectations. Very child friendly, close to large shopping areas and many restaurants. Close drive to Downtown as well. Would highly recommend.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Rob from Yorkville, IL
“Would definitely not recommend a stay here. Two trucks had their rear windows smashed on the night of April 25. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they said they would sweep up the glass but would not vacuum out my truck. The staff member recommended a car wash down the street to clean out my truck. Both my wife and I asked to speak to the manager. We never received a call. We left a few hours after seeing the damage to our truck. I can't begin to describe the frustration we felt. The hotel staff treated us as though we were burdening them with extra work. And when I contacted the hotel's corporate office, I was told that the hotel is not responsible for any damages to cars in its parking lot. By the way, the room was noisy from the HVAC; the carpet smelled like puke; the bathtub drain plug did not work properly; the beds were lumpy; and the staff was horrible. Stay at this hotel at your own risk.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Keith from Westby, WI
“This is a wonderful hotel. The pool was warm and inviting, the lobby was attractive, and the beds are the best of any hotel I have ever slept in. I have a $1500 bed at home and these beds in the hotel were just as comfortable.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Cindy from Two Harbors, MN
“This hotel was clean, comfortable and had a convenient location. The staff was friendly and helpful.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Ben from Chicago, IL
“Old hotel that has the slowest elevators ever seen. Way too many children running around unsupervised.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Troy from East Troy, WI
“I think hotel is great, but the hotel room was hot, and turned the air on but didn't help.”
