• The hotel was very nice. There were not a lot of public spaces.

“For the price I got on Priceline this hotel was very nice and centrally located in the downtown area of Madision where I desired to stay. The pool was too small.”

• The location.
• There were a lot of kids running around our floor in the morning, but we were already awake anyway.

“The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept well. The parking lot ($12/day) was full when we got in at 11PM, we had to make our own spot in the aisle, very irritating. Also, the coffee pot in our room didn't work (overflowed). We didn't really spend much time there, though I would stay again.”

• The staff was friendly, the location was fantastic and the lounge/restaurant has excellent food - view from our room was terrific.
• The small sundries shop off the lobby met our needs for aspirin but it did not have a lot of inventory.

“Pleasant staff, comfortable rooms with outstanding views of the Capitol. The Olive Lounge offers delicious snacks along with tasty cocktails in an intimate atmosphere. Attached parking garage is convenient - although an extra charge. But, the location enables you to walk to the water or to the area's many restaurants, bars and shops.”

• Needs to be updated, new wallpaper etc, very old. Needs fridge and micro in every room.

• If you are not use to 1 way traffic (which is normal in Madison, I.) It can be confusing.

“This hotel is not really high-end price wise but, by Madison standards, it's getting up there. You're paying for a central location, obviously, and some in-room amenities like opulent bed linens and those nice little shampoos and things they leave in the bathroom. Overall, it's a reasonable value (check a, warp rates, etc.). If you stay there, see if you can get one of the corner rooms overlooking the lake. The view is quite spectacular. But there are a few things that, to me, don't measure up to what I would expect for a hotel in this price class. One thing is that, one day, there was no housekeeping. (We meant to ask about that but got in a hurry when we checked out.) We know it wasn't just us - at least one other party staying there at the same time said they had the same problem. There was plenty of time that day when we were out of the room and the housekeeping could have been done. This seems inexcusable for a hotel in this price class. Also, the parking is inadequate. We've stayed there twice and both times we ended up parking in a municipal lot across the street. That's not especially inconvenient but it is rather time-consuming to drive all through a multi-story parking garage only to find out that no spaces are available. The ramp attached to the hotel is open to the public so it can easily fill up, especially when some function is going on at the convention center (that the hotel is also attached to). There's a private club that managed to reserve a large portion of the ramp, but hotel guests get no such consideration. And there seemed to be some confusion over how to handle the billing for parking. You always have to explain when you check out that you didn't use the ramp and make sure they adjust the bill accordingly and also explain the parking ramp staff that your room should be billed when you do use it. They need a better way of keeping track. You're best bet might be to pay the extra few bucks for valet parking and let those guys worry about it.”

• Nice view from window, nice sitting area in room, comfortable bed.
• No refrigerator in room, small pool, lack of hooks in bathroom.

“Hilton has a very comfortable king size bed. The view of the lake is great and the location is super. The workout facility was somewhat above average but the Jacuzzi was unusable for a 6 foot person. The rooms spaces were pretty good except their were no useable hooks in the bathroom. For the price I would stay there again.”

• The hotel ambience was gorgeous and the beds were heavenly.
• It was all good.

“The hotel was beautiful and overlooked the city. We could see the capital building from our room. The rooms were very clean, and comfortable. If you want a great night's sleep, the bed was the most comfortable bed I¿ve ever slept in. Divine.”

• Large rooms, view, walking distance to event.
• Noise at 2am, no support pillows, small pool, high parking rate.

“Great location for downtown or university events. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Feather pillows a little too soft, but the bath towels were fantastic. Wonderful view of lake or capitol. Didn't use restaurants, but menu looked great. Pool is very small. Parking rate is high, use city lot 1/2 block away for less than half. ”

• The location was perfect to walk to any restaurant, the capitol, and the lake. Plus the view of the lake was amazing.
• Charge for parking. But that is getting universal. And the swimming pool was tiny.

• Very accommodating with a small child and helpful friendly staff.
• Originally requested a non-smoking room and when arrived were booked for a smoking room. They did change our room but had to call and request it.

“Clean, friendly, convenient to downtown state buildings and campus. Very business friendly but as a leisure traveler with a small child I still felt comfortable.”

• Location, south view lake Mendota, north view state capitol. Very close to state street.
• When staying in a downtown hotel parking is always additional, not free as in the barbs.

“This Hilton¿s location is nice. Inn at the park is a better location and closer to uw, capitol, state St and shopping but here you have better views and it's easier getting in and out of the downtown capitol area.”

“The Hilton Madison Monona terrace was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Highlights were its convenient downtown location within walking distance to restaurants and a very short drive from the university. A surprise treat was the beautiful night view out either side of the hotel - state capital on one side and lake views on the other.”

• Hard to find-seemed hidden but it was dark and late.

“The room was not complete. meaning they didn't have a bedspread on one bed and we never could find the remote for the TV. didn't matter too tired! But we just stayed the night. The next morning we walked around the downtown before leaving it was in a wonderful location to view lots of Madison.”

• Boutique style hotel but with full service. Excellent view and superbly finished interior.
• Only that the main hotel restaurant was not open on a Sunday.

“What a great hotel. Right in the heart of Madison with the South side looking out over the smaller of the two Lakes. Parking is only $8 overnight and the staff, rooms, lobby etc was all well above standard. The hotel has a boutique hotel feel but with full service of Bar, Restaurant and a Pool.”

• The location was great. The hotel offers both lake views and city views.
• Front desk was not as responsive as we would have liked.

“Hotel location was great, just a few blocks from State Street in downtown Madison. The hotel also offers a nice view and clean rooms. Overnight parking was available at the hotel for $11.”

• The view on the lake side was breathtaking, especially at night with the fountain and lights lit up.
• Lack of parking, and the breakfast buffet was rather lacking for the cost.

“ This was a wonderful the location was close to downtown, but still had the rooftop garden to walk along. If you venture out, nearby you will find a great little micro brewery called The Great Dane, wonderful food and great service, and the best it was walking distance. We went on a Saturday evening, be prepared for limited parking as we had several weddings that were booked into the hotel also, so once we got a parking spot we did not want to lose it. The staff was courteous, but we found we had to wait for our room even though we called ahead to see if it was ready. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the wonderful view. We tried the breakfast buffet, I would suggest a pass on this, it was very limited for the price, just one step above continental, I would expect coffee and juice to be included, but these were extra. Otherwise our stay was very relaxing and I would stay there again.”

• I loved the huge window looking out over the lake.
• There was nothing that I did not love.

“It was very exciting for me from the moment I arrived. A jazz singer and piano duo were performing in the lounge and the music was great. My room was breathtaking. I love Madison, WI and staying in such an exquisite hotel made me forget all my troubles for a short time.”

• Loved location within walking distance of many restaurants and view of lake.
• Check in staff had some trouble getting us into a room with one queen bed.

“Great location just off capitol square and within walking distance of many nice restaurants. We parked the car in the city lot kitty corner from the hotel and walked to restaurants and bars. I was impressed with the cleanliness of our Lakeview room, especially appreciated in the bathroom. Our room did not show signs of wear and tear. The pool and hot tub were noticeably clean, without the usual accumulated scum around the edges. We would be happy to stay here again.”
