• The beds were amazingly comfortable.
• As with most hotels the in room refreshments were crazy expensive.

• Excellent customer service. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
• Towels in the hotel bathroom were older and ratty. Should be replaced to maintain luxury feel.

“The hotel was very attractive. I especially liked the seating options in the bar/lounge area. The bed was very comfy and perfect for a good nights rest away from home. The front desk staff was very friendly and made a point of greeting everyone that walked by. It was very convenient to have several people at the front desk; we didn't need to wait at all when arriving, checking out or to speak with the front desk at any time. The only complaint were the ratty towels in the bathroom in our room. They should definitely be replaced. Overall, we had an excellent stay.”

• The decor was updated and graphic, with an Asian feel. Liked the pool and spa tub.
• Our room was set above the hotel entrance so we heard its piped music all night, though it was rather soothing.

“Beautiful atrium hotel with glass elevators and all rooms facing atrium. No closed hallways. Everything is very clean and new. Reasonably priced Sunday brunch buffet was delicious, fresh and varied with a custom-made vegetable omelets that made my morning. Fabulous bed and linens. Convenient to university and downtown Madison, off from the crowds yet near the highway. Easy to get to. I am definitely returning on my next trip up.”

“Upscale, well decorated, clean hotel with friendly staff. Had several amenities - restaurant, indoor pool, exercise facilities which looked nice - we did not use them. Conveniently located to main road, shopping and restaurants.”

“Wouldn't rate it 3 star. Older property geared to business travel. Room was ok, but nothing spectacular. Marriott's Courtyard on the opposite side of Madison is a newer property and is 1/2 star.”

• AC didn't work very well. Some staff was unhelpful.

“Easy access from the highway, in a nice location with restaurants and entertainment. The lobby area is also very attractive. The room was nice but the bathroom was dirty.”

• The interior styling is very cold modern. Very few plants.

“The Marriott in Middleton is near a brand new mall. The hotel has an enclosed central court where all the rooms open on to. The good news is the walls are thick and fairly sound proof. The hotel just finished a renovation of the public spaces in Spring of 2008. They will so be renovating all of the guest rooms. The guest rooms now are extremely comfortable and well appointed with plenty of space. Probably 550-650 square feet per normal room.”

• The room was clean and the bedding was welcoming.
• I came in carrying two young children with our bags and was not offered assistance.

“Although the staff members were not helpful during our stay, the room was clean and attractive. We did not get to see much of the hotel, unfortunately. We slept well, which was what we needed.”

• All the pillows on the beds.
• No good reading lamps by the bed and paper cups for coffee - yuck.

“I always like a Marriott Hotel, but I think ceramic mugs for coffee are generally the norm. Also, why do no hotels have good reading lamps? I mean hardly any do. The employees were very nice, greeting the guests with a cheery hello or good afternoon and helpful with directions.”

• The central atrium felt open and luxurious.
• My breakfast, waffle, had cooled and dried when it came.

“We had a pleasant, friendly stay. The desk staff was happy to heat our hot-pack in their microwave, and seemed to actually enjoy some chats with guests. The pool was nice and warm, open late, and of good size. The glass elevators, and the balconies around the central atrium gave a nice view of the whole building, which was very pleasant. The breakfast was generous, with a good range of choices, with pleasant service.”

• No free internet! Very expensive to use a computer. We went to Panera to get on-line.

“This hotel looks great as you walk in, see the lobby and head to your room. But the room was disappointing. We stayed in a standard room and it was nothing special. I preferred the 2.5 star Country Inn and suites down the street. It was a nicer room and had free wireless internet. That's a necessity in this day in age. Charging for it is ludicrous. We just went down the street to get free Wi-Fi access. Also they could not give us a room with a king-size bed, instead we had two doubles. We knew this was a possibility going in but we had called ahead to request a king and were disappointed when we could only have a room with doubles. Also this hotel is expensive! That should not give it a higher star rating just cause they charge more. Water - $3.00, WiFi - $10.00 per day, No continental breakfast option. I would have rather gone to the Country Inn and suites which has a free breakfast, nothing special but free, free WiFi, and in my opinion a nicer room. Also was cheaper probably because it is rated as 2.5 stars. It just doesn't have big lavish lobby which when it comes down to it amounts to nothing. The room and prices for what you get are all that matter.”

• I loved the open foyer and glass elevator.
• I think the bathroom so very small and confined.

“This was a great place to stay. Close to the beltline, plenty of fine restaurants nearby. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I was a little dissatisfied with the bathroom there was no room at all to open the door without hitting someone inside.”

• Rooms were a bit loud from hallway noise.

“This has been a consistent experience at 3 & 4 star hotels, including the Marriott in Middleton, WI. We were right next to the stairs and there were several soccer teams there that weekend so it was a bit loud!”

• Very close to the highway. We were able to stay on the opposite side.

• The lobby was clean cut and had a nice look to it.
• The room was way too warm.

“I've stayed in nicer cheaper hotels. The room wasn't anything special; the bathroom was pretty small the floor was very slippery when it got wet from the shower. There should be an extra sink outside of the bathroom. Room was way too warm at night and I didn't see anyway of cooling it down.”

“Nice touch of cheese, crackers and strawberries our first night. There was quite a hum of noise from the center courtyard on Friday night from Wisc. High School football coaches conference and Final Four Games for the weekend. All in fun. No problem sleeping on 5th floor.”

• The quality of rooms; pool area very nice!
• They wanted 11 dollars for breakfast! Per person!

“This hotel will be much nicer when they are finished with the construction of the surrounding buildings. Its a bit noisy, also, being located right next to the belt-line, but they do a good job of sound-proofing the rooms. We heard nothing with the window closed. Overall, very enjoyable.”

• The restaurant was very good, but only a buffet.

• I love the comforter on the bed! Perfect weight in winter.
• Noisy kids in the halls.

“The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the middle school hockey teams were up late into the night and were noisy. The staff was apologetic the next morning. We did not call the desk and complain that night.”

• The other lady in the morning in the lounge had no personality, and she was not helpful at all.

• Close to shopping/restaurants. Clean, staff was friendly, pool was nice.
• They did not have the lot plowed for all the time we were there. Snow had stopped before we checked in, had to trudge through snow/ice/muck!

• A Holiday party was held at the time of our stay and it was noisy.

“This is a beautiful hotel with an atrium center unfortunately that was what made our stay not as pleasant as I would have liked it to be. There was a Holiday party being held on the night of our stay and the noise from the drinkers carried up to our room. After 2am though it quieted down. I discussed this with the management were very polite and apologetic but with the set up of the hotel there was nothing they could do about the noise because of the hotel design. It was very beautiful and Im sure other nights the stay would be more pleasant.”
