• Staff was friendly and helpful.
• Beds were no better than best western and the room had some litter. The lobby feel for this hotel does not match up to the feel of the rooms.

“Nice hotel in a great location that has an attractive appeal inside. However the rooms are, at best, ordinary with comfort and cleanliness not leading the pack.”

• Only worn feather pillows in room, but didn't ask for more.

“Grand relic of past glory. If you appreciate historical settings and accept that a historical building like this will have smaller rooms and some limits on amenities, this is a great hotel. Hotel restaurant was adequate, if pricy for what was offered (avoid room service and go for the breakfast buffet). Overall, a hotel staffed with very helpful and accommodating staff. The open, friendly welcome and service reminded me of the era of the hotel, before major chains began stamping uniformity.”

“The location of the hotel is within walking distance of many of the Lincoln tourist sites and the state capital buildings. The accommodations were quite comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.”

• The location was perfect.
• The bathroom was a little dated.

“This hotel is the perfect location for seeing all the Lincoln sites without moving your car. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Public parking is adjacent to the hotel, you can access it without going outside. The bathroom was a little dated, but the elevators served the hotel well. I would not have wanted a different hotel.”

• There is a piano in the foyer. That does not make it a 3 star hotel.
• It is old. It is dirty. It has uncomfortable beds and is in bad need of a remodel.

“This hotel is a dump. It's the worst 3 star hotel. It's old, and is bad need of a re-model. The furniture and beds are straight out of the 70's. Just because a hotel has a conference center, a restaurant, and a piano in the foyer, doesn't make it a nice hotel. And giving a hotel a historic name like, Abe Lincoln Hotel, is not an excuse for having old dirty rooms. Avoid this hotel and stay across the street at the Hilton.”

“Next to Prairie Convention Center, friendly staff. The waiter at Lindsay's Restaurant was slow, lazy, and put our dessert charge on another customers bill. Check your bill if you eat at this restaurant.”

• We like the accessibility from the interstate and that all our needs of fitness, leisure and comfort could be met here.
• On our 1st night, we had to have our bed remade due to an identified curly hair we found when we pulled back our blankets to go to bed.

“The hotel provided a nice stay for us. We had great accessibility to the interstate, as well as, had all our needs met with a nice fitness center, sauna, and pool, as well as were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet in the morning. Even though we encountered a suspicious bed sheet situation on our 1st night, we were offered either another room or to have our sheets changed immediately. They were very accommodating and helpful.”

• The location was a prime spot for seeing Springfield.
• Management was horrible.

“Our first nights stay was totally adequate. The second night was the worst night I have ever experienced in a hotel. My husband, myself and 3 children were placed on a floor with an entire fraternity. Nonetheless, it was so loud an noisy, we did not sleep the entire night. Despite numerous calls to the front desk, they were unable to control the unruly behavior of the frat boys. After our 4th call downstairs, we were told that it was our own fault because we did not switch room when the called us to. We never received a call from anyone. Needless to say the next day our trip was ruined because everyone was tired and cranky.”

• The hotel is very conveniently located in Downtown Springfield and close to the capitol and all of the Abraham Lincoln attractions.
• The hotel is in need of updating. It was clean, but looked very dated which made you wonder how clean it really was.

• The location is excellent for Downtown Springfield.
• A lot of conventioneers.

“This hotel was a three star 10 years ago. It is a very busy hotel as it is attached to the convention center. It needs to have a general updating.”

“An interior update is desperately needed. Everything seems very dirty. My room looked orderly, but the surfaces of everything were filthy from the beautiful lobby area to the elevator to my bathroom. I appreciated the polite personable ness of the front desk staff.”

• Excellent front desk service, great restaurant, good service.
• Room is somewhat dingy -needs renovation, carpets coming up.

“This is a classic hotel with everything one needs. The general decor is very pleasing though the room I was in was getting dingy and needs an upgrade. The conference rooms are also very well laid out and it is an excellent place for a conference. The location is great in terms of being in the Downtown area.”

“Very nice hotel centrally located to all of the Lincoln sites. Easy to get to from interstate and parking close to hotel. Nice selection of amenities, except continental breakfast, should be included with the hotel stay. Minimal traffic around and near hotel. Restaurant attached to hotel lacked a comprehensive menu and was over priced, but the food was good.”

“The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were in need of remodeling. The carpet was very worn and dingy. The furnishings were worn. The TV was small. However, the room met my needs of a place to sleep overnight.”

“This hotel was conveniently located, but not a 3-star level. The decor dated back to the 80's, and that's a compliment. Carpeting had spots and was dingy. Staff was friendly and helpful, however.”

• I liked the antiques and the character and charm of the hotel.
• I wished the front desk were more knowledgeable of area restaurants.

“Here's my caveat - If you're a traveler specifically in Springfield to find Lincoln, it's a perfect location to the historical sites and has the charm (antique light fixtures and armoire in the room) to get you in the mood for travel back in time. If you're in Springfield for business or a convention, and you demand perfectly "new" and trendy furnishings, this isn't the hotel for you. The location is absolutely fantastic. As far as complaints of paying for parking, it was a non issue as I had no problem parking my unloaded vehicle two blocks away for free on the weekend. If visiting on a weekday - the $6/day parking is a good deal. The swimming pool was nice and I really can't say enough about the lobby and the "atmosphere" of the hotel. My kids and husband loved it too.”

“The location is excellent, but the rooms are old and dated. It was probably a grand hotel in its time. While clean, it appears a bit dirty because of the wear and tear on just about everything. The pool was small, but nice, however, gave the appearance of being old and grimy. Based on the appearance of the hotel overall, we did not even want to visit the restaurant. The hotel staff was nice, but seemed generally bored. The walls are paper thin, so even a short conversation in the hallway can wake you up, not to mention the outside noises, such as the never-ending trains. A sundries shop would have been nice for magazines and forgotten items. Basically this hotel would be great with some investment and updating. Unfortunately, it pales in comparison to the Hilton across the street, even though they are both rated three-star hotels.”

• Free parking for guests.
• I did not like the urine stain I found on the bedspread when I turned the bed down.

“This hotel gave me the creeps. It was like a cross between the 1408 movie & the shining. The artwork in the room was of Abraham Lincoln and his wife, and also gave me the creeps (to the point where I wanted to pull two pillowcases off the pillows on the extra bed & cover them up. The last straw was when I turned down the bed and found what appeared to be a large urine stain on the underside of the bed-spread. And, although I had already pre-paid for the room, I got my things, turned in my room-key at the front desk (the desk-clerk offered me a free breakfast when I told him about my experience in his hotel - which I was absolutely not interested in) and I drove away in search of another place to spend the night. I'd never consider staying again or recommending this hotel to anyone.”

• I liked that it had an indoor pool for the kids and was close to the Lincoln Museum.
• The room was filthy with dust; there was no vents for the bathroom very out dated!

“We arrived at around 5:30pm for our check in and the hotel lobby was great which got all of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, excited about the room also very pumped up because it was so close to the Lincoln Museum ( about 2 or 3 blocks). Once we got our key and got up to the room we were disappointed the room was very out dated, there was dust everywhere including the drapes and lamps and then there wasn't even a vent in the bath room. The room was very stuffy so I tried to turn on the AC but that didn't work very well. However it was a good location but we didn't want to spend very much time in the room cause it was not clean but the pool and hot tub were great and the kids really enjoyed that part.”

• Nicely located with easy access to Lincoln Library, museum and other downtown activities.
• There were at least 3 or 4 trains that came through with loud horns announcing their travel through the center of town and the noise was close.

“This hotel was nicely located in the downtown area. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast and it was very nice but we should have watched closer so that we could have had the Sunday brunch. We will do that next time.”

• The hotel room was a previous smokers room simply repainted and I needed to pay for internet.

“The lobby was nice; the staff was helpful and extremely friendly. Room service was prompt and the bar was pleasant. The business center was small but free but you needed to pay for internet in your room. I was placed in a non-smokers room that had simply been repainted. I found a cigarette box behind the beside table when I went to plug in my phone charger.”

“The rooms need some serious updating. We had 2 rooms and both had very poor mattresses. It is the same star rating as The Crowne Plaza but certainly not the same class of hotel.”

“The staff was very friendly and the location was just where I needed it to be with parking easily accessible. The hotel however is in need of a major remodel, it was very dingy and dirty and even had an odor that was very unpleasant.”

• Proximity to Museums and Capitol Building, excellent.
• Bed was over soft and room walls were scuffed.

“You can't beat the location for sightseeing in Springfield. Downside -- My room had scuffed walls, something stuck to the door and smelled of smoke when I arrived. Upside, when I called the front desk they had the manager of housekeeping at my door within 5 minutes and she personally took care of all the problems including providing an ozone air cleaning machine for use while we went to dinner. I would stay at this hotel again.”
