• I liked the fact that it was in the heart of Springfield and close to everything.
• They offered a free breakfast buffet, but restaurant was small and had a bit of a wait. But hey, it was free.

• Ice and vending machine on our floor out of order.

“Front desk helpful from check-in to check-out. They ask what your preference of floor is. Bellmen were extremely helpful in directions and information. I they didn't know they would research and get you what you need. Hotel was clean rooms was large and comfortable.”

“Nothing good to say, well they comped the movie because of the white spots on the bed spread. Linen was ripped the sink ran slow, toilet was disgusting. The wind made a constant noise and the hotel operator at first refused to connect me to the front desk! I knew the minute she asked what the problem was she was going to give me a hard time!”

• Housekeeping left our door unlocked all day, Nothing was disturbed, but could have been terrible.

“When I arrived, the hotel was not going to give me the free breakfast, however they did give it to me when I objected. This is an old hotel with much maintenance being neglected. We had no ice machine on our floor. The carpet was filthy. My friends white socks turned black. The parking is not connected to the hotel.”

• Problem with toilet, loud compressor on air-conditioner.

“The central location of this hotel makes it a good choice. The room was clean, nicely furnished, and would have been quiet if it were not for the loud compressor on the air-conditioning unit which cycled every 5 to 10 minutes. A plumbing problem with the toilet was tended to by the staff within minutes, and a follow-up call from the front desk sought a confirmation that the problem had been resolved. The stay was well worth the price even with the additional parking fee per day.”

• Free high speed internet available in the room and wireless in the lobby, more important than TV.
• The bath tub and shower enclosure was yellowed and aging. There was mould in the tiles above, and the ceiling was peeling because of poor exhaust.

“This is a good hotel, with friendly staff and comfortable beds. The lobby and public areas were clean and welcoming. The restaurants and bars were good, and the room was well decorated. Unfortunately, the bathroom needs to be updated, as the fixtures and tiles were ageing, and the exhaust fan did not work. There was no headlamp in my standard room, and the TV was small.”

“The staff was very nice and helpful. The bar,called "The underground tavern", was great. Two problems: #1- Our room had a very bad smell and #2-If you are hungry late at night, then you are out of luck because room service stops at 10:00p.m. Other than that-our stay at the Hilton Springfield was nice.”

• The staff are very friendly & helpful; very quiet, nice beds
• I don't like to stay on the upper floors (the building sways) but this has not been a problem anytime I have stayed there.

• It is definitely NOT a three star hotel (amentities) and the staff were beyond rude!!

“This Hilton is a very sad representation of Hilton hotels, it might have been a nice hotel at one time, but not anymore, the interior was worn out, the staff were unprofessional and the amenities were lacking to say the least. We would definitely not stay there again.”

“It was very nice, the staff was very helpful. The restaurant was good but maybe a little pricey. Its location to the Lincoln attractions is perfect and is well within walking distance of the Museum and the Lincoln Neighborhood.”

When we arrived we were given two rooms but only one bed in each room,we were 3 adults and 3 children when I called the desk they said they were sorry and gave us two different rooms with 2 beds in each room. So all in all very nice people to work with. I would stay there again and recommend them to others.”

• In the heart of Springfield
• Breakfast was expensive and not very good

“I would suggest this hotel to people who want to be in walking distance of the major landmarks in Springfield. The capitol, Lincoln Museum and many other buildings are all within in walking distance. Many of the restaurants have limited hours on the weekends because the cater to the business crowd.”

“The swimming pool was so dirty I would not get in. The toilets were tiny and uncomfortable, the bed was too soft, the room had not been dusted in months. The staff at the front desk was unfriendly and chose to offer no assistance.AVOID, AVOID, AVOID”

“We usually stay at the renaissance across the street. it beats the hilton hands down. our room was not ready for an hour after check in time. the staff was just there, not friendly or personable. not as clean as we would have liked.they didn't ask and gave us 2 double beds. at the renaissance we get a king bed and it is the first thing they ask at check in.”

• Close to all the downtown Abraham Lincoln sites, helpful front desk staff.
• Tired, worn-out, older convention hotel. Small baths, grimy.

“The cockroach climbing next to the drinking fountain outside the pool kind of summed it all up. While in an absolutely terrific location - central downtown, between the Lincoln Home & Museum - it's seen much better days (all circa '80's...).Tiny bathroom, sticky furniture, overall "tired" feeling to the whole place. The price & location were very right, but the place itself was oh-so-wrong. Would stay at another place next time.”

• The location was great. I have stayed at the Hilton before. We travel to Springfield a lot and would love to stay at the Hilton every time.
• We had to pay for parking at the hotel.

“I would recommend this Hotel to my friends. The parking situation was the only thing I thought was unfair. I believe when you make a reservation at the Hilton on the internet they never include parking.”

“I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the other reviews were not very good, which I don't understand. We had a wonderful experience. The rooms were spacious, staff helpful, pasta dinner at the restaurant at the top of the hotel delightful, and the location was great - just a few blocks from the new Lincoln Museum. We felt we received a great deal for the price we paid. Only bad thing may be that the hotel was located near train tracks (but all the 3-star hotels are right there also). You might want to ask for rooms higher up (where we stayed). You probably hear train whistles less on higher floors. It wasn't anything horrible. I just noticed the whistles every once in a while.”
