  • I really didn't like the surprise $30.00 fee for parking but I did bring my car down a lot.

“Overall I liked the location on Canal St. right near the quarter. Easy walk. Good bar in the lobby. Kept car parked in garage. They basically took good care of me. I would recommend it.”

  • Great classic look and good staff service.
  • When I arrived, the hotel was overbooked and I had to stay at the Marriott.

“Despite booking the hotel several weeks in advance, when I arrived, the hotel was overbooked and I had to stay at the Marriott. They tried to make it up to me with a letter of apology and a fruit basket, and since my luggage was lost on the plane, a shaving kit and personal hygiene kit. It worked. Despite the initial mix up, I greatly enjoyed my stay there. I think the mistake was rare and would still recommend the hotel.”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Great location--close to the main strip but not so close that you're right near the noise.
  • Valet parking was way backed up at 5:00--we waited over an hour.

“If you're going to Bourbon St, this is a great location. It's just a few blocks from the strip but not too close to hear the noise or get the rowdy crowds. The valet parking at 5:00 was insane. No exaggeration at all: we waited over an hour to drive the 2.5 blocks around the hotel to get valet parked. (We thought Camp St was backed up due to traffic, but when we got closer we realized the delay was the line getting into the Sheraton's valet parking area.) Valet parking (the only option) was $27 a night. There are other lots on Camp St. that are in the $15-20 range. I'd recommend these instead. Heads up: Wireless internet is $10 per 24 hour period. (Other wireless in the area requires a password so you can't mooch off another hotel's wireless for free.)”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Friendly, helpful staff and nice public areas.
  • The room was about a 2.5 star hotel, needs renovations!

“Overall, not a bad experience but I doubt I would say the same if I would have made regular price. The hotel is not a 4-star hotel. It may have been 10-15 years ago, but the room is very dated and needs renovation. The TV is old, there are none of the modern amenities that most business-travel hotels offer these days (refrigerator, microwave, free internet, etc.), and you have to pay $10/day for use of the workout facility! I'm sorry, Sheraton New Orleans, but if not for all the conventions giving New Orleans their charity right now, you would surely be losing money, as no one would pay $200+ to stay there. On the upside, the staff was friendly and the bed was very comfortable. And you just can't beat the location. My point is that no one should have to pay regular price until this hotel is updated.”

  • The location is perfect for enjoying the soul and flavor of New Orleans.
  • The valet parking was a bit pricey at $30.00/day.

“The Sheraton Hotel at 500 Canal St. is located right in the middle of numerous attractions. The French Quarter, Canal Place (a small mall of upscale stores), the River Walk, The Aquarium of the Americas and Jackson Square are just a few of the attractions which are only a short walk from this hotel. If you should happen to make to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, this is the place to stay. Several of the major parades pass right in front of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was kept very clean and orderly even though it was booked solid during my stay.”

  • There was a long line at check -in and there are minor imperfections in public areas which could be taken care of with a little more attention to detail.

“The hotel is in a great location, a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street but just enough away to escape the craziness when you come back to your room. The views are great at night and the hotel staff is very helpful. The luxury factor of the hotel could be upgraded a bit with a little more attention to physical details. This would truly put it in the category of luxury hotel. Overall I had a great experience. The concierge even arranged for lilies to be delivered to my room as requested. I would highly recommend it.”

“It was a busy time for the Sugar Bowl, but the room was not ready over an hour after check-in time and we would not have gotten it then if we didn't ask to speak with a manager. The parking lot was also full, so we had to park our car in what appeared to be a suspect part of town, although the hotel did provide a shuttle back to the hotel. Overall, not the best hotel experience and definitely not a 4 star experience, but it was kind of a crazy time with the Sugar Bowl in town.”

We had great views from the 40th floor and they accommodated our party by making sure we were on the same floor. The most upsetting thing about the hotel was the fee to use the health club. .”

  • The hotel was located on canal which is close to other attractions. We did not have to drive anywhere.
  • The hotel did not have enough parking the amount of guest booked for the weekend. The room smelled of stale smoke and towels were dirty.

“The hotel staffs were nice but you had to go through several people to get to your room. One person to get your bags out of the car, stand in bell men line then a bell man takes you to the room. The check-in line was extremely long and not enough attendants to check people in. The room was supposed to be a Starwood preferred room. It smelled of stale smoke, the towels were dirty and the bathroom facilities were very old and cracked. There was not enough parking at the hotel so they recommended a parking garage which they said was of no charge at first. Once at the parking garage there was an enormous price that needed to be paid. The garage attendant was not aware of the waived fee. The hotel valet department later stated that they gave us incorrect information. I did not enjoy my stay at the Sheraton New Orleans and will not recommend to anyone else.”

“Did not meet normal expectations of previous stays here. I believe if I call in a problem about the sanitary conditions of my bathroom, housekeeping should have come and promptly taken care of such. I ended up cleaning my own bathroom so I could shower and head to my destination. Room service did comp me a day of parking. But this is unacceptable for a hotel of this star quality and for infection control issues. The door was also misaligned and had to be pretty much slammed in order to close it. A nuisance to say the least. The noise level from other patrons was ridiculous!”
