“We recently stayed at the Hilton downtown in St. Louis and the Hyatt Regency was not as nice as the Hilton. I would consider this a 3 star hotel.”

• Location within the tourist area near shops and restaurants, Quiet and restful.
• Narrow dark halls, out-dated decor, coffee maker inconvenient, closet inconvenient.

“This hotel was most likely a 4 star hotel 15-20 years ago. We noticed lots of deferred maintenance and if it is to be consistent with the qualities of the 4 star it is badly in need of upgrading. Beds were quite comfortable but amenities were consistent with those of older out-dated hotels. WiFi is available but not free.”

• They had two computers in the lobby with free internet.
• Almost everything. The hallways were like a maze, the room was dirty, parking was expensive and inconvenient, we didn't have a fitted sheet on our bed!

“The place was great. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed slept like a dream. Being at St. Louis' Union Station made it nice, Landry's and Hard Rock are right there, it's a short walk to the Scott Trade Center, and the Light rail is across the parking lot. The staff is wonderful making sure you stay is just right.”

• Loved everything about it.

• Quiet rooms. Historical location.
• Long track through boring hallways to get to room.

“Clean. Actually spotless. Very walk able from the light rail (Metro) line which gives easy access to about everything. Firm but comfortable beds. Quiet - no "party room" down the hall. The casual atmosphere of Einstein Brothers Bagels for early breakfast/coffee is comfortable and the web connection there lightening fast. But I was ready for coffee at 5:30 and there is nothing open until 6:30. And it closes about 6 PM leaving not a great many options in the hotel. Downtown St Louis closes down pretty early so if you haven't had dinner by 8 PM you can either take a taxi to an outside restaurant or rely on the vending machine. Staff was always polite, helpful, and gave full responses.”

“This hotel was beautiful on the outside; the building looks something like an old castle. The inside was just as nice and the staff was very friendly. It is located inside Union Station so there are many stores and eateries that are very convenient. My only complaint is cost of valet. I arrived around 2 AM and I did not know where to park, thus just used valet. I did not expect it to be $30 for 10 hours of use. Also, the interior had some flaws for a 4 star hotel. The curtains had some holes that looked tacky and caused by bugs or something and the comforter had a stain. Just not something I would normally expect from a 4 star hotel, but minor incidents. Altogether a great stay.”

• For coming in at 10:00 Pm and leaving early is not what this hotel is designed for.
• 12.00 PM extra to park.

“For a weekend in St. Louis or a romantic date this hotel would be perfect. For a place to just spend the night after a busy work and travel day it's a little too much.”

• Staff were helpful and very courteous.
• Paying extra to park, should be free to guests that stay overnight in the hotel.

“A little hard to get too. Nice big parking lot for the trailer I was pulling. I did not like the caged in hallways but I guess it is done from pass bad experiences. The room was nice but the toilets was leaking on the floor in the bath room. I have seen a lot worse and my stay there was overall great.”

• Hotel lobby, restaurants, its inside the St Louis Grande Station so its pretty neat looking, old railroad terminal.
• Very damp rooms. I got allergies from sleeping on damp bedding, ruined the experience.

“Didn't meet expectations because of dampness, also there was no contact with humans, everything was kiosks and just didn't seem like the way you want to treat your guests.”

• The hotel was wonderful. The room was definitely upscale but old and not spotlessly clean.

• The rooms were newly renovated and elegantly decorated.
• There was no parking close to the hotel. Only valet parking at $27 per night.

“The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Although the valet parking was expensive, I chose to use it instead of walking at night from the parking a block or two away. The room was beautiful, clean, newly decorated.”

• It had large spacious rooms.
• The self park area was way too far from the hotel.

“This was a nice hotel with courteous staff and very nice size rooms. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of space. Our TV was a little broken but still worked. The biggest draw back was the self park was very far from the hotel and so carrying your bags from your car to the hotel was a huge project. Overall a nice hotel but you might want to think about the benefits of valet.”

“Unique, this hotel is a mixed bag. The maze of hallways and entrances requires maps and specific direction which you will not get. The $15/27 parking fee is outrageous. Having navigated the smelly, dirty halls to your room, you'll find true 4 star accommodations.”

“This Hyatt reminded me of a castle. It was beautiful with a lot of ornate details. I continued to discover delightful amenities around every corner. Not only was this hotel very affordable and convenient to the sites. It really offered much more than I expected. We enjoyed our stay.”

• The parking situation is tough and no local street parking available.

“First of all, this place is totally historic - at least the lobby area where you walk in. It's actually part of the Union Station mall downtown and the lobby is accessible from the mall. Conversely, the mall is also accessible (even after close) to the hotel guests. However, the rooms are somewhat separated from the lobby and you actually walk across the top of the mall to get to the hotel section (it's not a long walk, about 150ft, but imagine dragging suitcases and stuff by while shoppers look up at you). Once you put your card in and get to the hotel section, then you feel only somewhat isolated from the mall, as you're still above the Einstein Bros. Bagel shop (and it's all open air). There's a bank of elevators right there and you can take them up or down. Our room was on the 3rd floor, which you walk in on, so that worked out good for us. The only downside is that we were at the end of the hallway, which was slightly inconvenient. Still, our room overlooked the beautiful pool area, that I had no idea existed in Union Station. I wish we would have had time to enjoy it. The room was comfy. Beds were nice, toiletries were good. Our TV remote had a dying (and eventually dead) battery and within 5 minutes of us calling the front desk we had a fresh remote. The room was somewhat roomy, had a little recliner with ottoman and a pretty nifty desk for the business traveler. The bedding was very comfortable - it's the best sleep my wife and I had in weeks. The bathroom was clean, but unspectacular. There's no real street parking overnight, so you're stuck paying something.”

“Nice, have to walk around to the front of union station to avoid walking through the mall. Even walking through the mall is a good walk from either parking lot, nice facility & convenient for many St. Louis activities.”

“The hotel is pretty and unique with its original architecture. The staff needs a lot of work. Very uncaring; didn't have answers to many questions. Didn't honor my request for a refrigerator but charged me anyway. In room dining was excellent, but took an hour after then quoted 45 minutes.”

“My stay was fabulous. Although the hotel hallway was dated, the comfort was top-notch! I slept in the most comfortable hotel bed ever! Plenty of pillows for resting.”

• The lobby was kind of hard to find from the parking lot.

“My wife and I have a great stay at this hotel. We hope to be able to stay longer next time. It was very clean and all the hotel staff was more than helpful. The room was comfortable and had a great view of Union Station. It is very close to attractions downtown (within walking distance).”

“We were traveling with both older and younger children. This hotel provided an excellent place to keep both groups happy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pool was super. The location was awesome, Union Station, Hard Rock Cafe, Metro around downtown. Our only complaint was the difficulty and price of parking.”

• The Whispering Arch was fabulous!

“Hyatt Regency is a name of quality, and the location at Union Station St. Louis upholds the tradition. Public areas overlooking the old train station that speak of grandeur of times past. Rooms have a touch of luxury with massaging bath soaps, deluxe linens, choice artwork, and spacious bathrooms. The staff is tolerable, if a bit brisk, and room service is generally palatable (but nothing special and prone to errors).”

• It was beautiful, clean, had an excellent location that overlooked the arch and river.
• For the level of luxury felt in lobby and other parts of the hotel, I thought the pool was less than desirable looking, other than the view of the arch.

“This was a beautiful hotel, our room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony that overlooked the river and the beautiful arch. Staff was busy but still quite friendly and did what they could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. If there were to pick one thing that I might change, it would probably be the quality of the lounge furniture and overall appearance of the rooftop pool. The arch could be seen, but the overall look of the area was just mediocre. It didn't fit in with the rest of the hotel in my opinion. It wasn't horrible, it just didn't meet my expectations given the rest of the hotel. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Very pleasant experience.”
