• Friendly staff, huge continental breakfast, quiet.
• Some of the theme decoration (windows) was coming off, could use some theme updating.

“( Rooms were spacious, and very nice. Ours had a sliding glass door to the outside. There were no locks on those doors, just thin medal, hollow tubes which you wedged between the windows. Lots of windows had taped on lattice-like patterns which were coming off in several of the windows. And the patterns were different, not matching on several windows. It definitely needs some updating with the theme in mind. Seems to be neglected in that way. The restaurant was wonderful, food-wise, and staff was very nice.”

• Great complimentary breakfast. TV had closed captions. I am mostly deaf. Nice accommodations.
• Can't really say anything about our room or stay. Staff very helpful and friendly to us.

“I liked the staff and room accommodations very much and it's location to I-80 in Iowa. It's great that they have a computer for guest access. They answered all our questions about the area and gave good directions to where we wanted to visit. No other hotel had a TV that closed captions for me. We had a room right off the pool and breakfast area. Best breakfast bar ever.”

“The hotel itself was very nice. When we arrived in the evening there was not anyone at the front desk. We had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up to check us in.”

• Extremely friendly staff.
• Room felt 'damp', bed 'clammy', odd smell in room.

“Reasonably priced, decent location, many amenities, unusual theme (medieval). Presents FAR better on the Internet than in person. Friendly, helpful staff. Family friendly. Room kind of dark and dank, though seemed clean. Would not give it more than 2-3 stars in terms of appearance or luxury, but overall a decent value.”

• Great pool, fun atmosphere, wonderful breakfast.
• Can't think of anything I didn't like.

“This is a great, fun hotel with a castle theme. The kids especially loved the one-way mirror between the pool and the restaurant. The pool is indoor with a large sliding roof that makes you feel like you are outdoors. All of the rooms have patios that open out onto the pool/breakfast area. Everything about this place is great! Enjoy!”

• This hotel had a wonderful breakfast. Our room was great, I wish we would have had our children with us.
• The beds were very HARD.

“We enjoyed our short visit to Iowa City. The hotel was perfect for us, close to Iowa's campus and the Coral ridge Mall. The hotel is done in a medieval theme, which was unlike any other hotel we have been to. Thank-you!!”

• The room was pool side, clean, and great breakfast.
• The tub water wouldn't shut off.

“The room and hotel were all that I had hoped it would be. The pool and hot tub were very clean. The staff was informative and helpful. Overall my experience was great.”

• The rooms only have one bed and I was looking for two.

• Staff was very friendly and courteous, definite stay at again.
• The pool table was missing eight ball and cue ball.

“Other than the construction, it was very easy to get to, easy to find. Good directions to the Sheraton Hotel where we had a dance competition. Staff was very friendly, front desk and bartenders were wonderful. I will definitely stay here again in the future. very clean and family friendly.”

• The canopy bed and the great breakfast buffet.
• Sliding doors off room had small lock and door jam did not feel very secure.

“This is an older hotel but they have taken great pains to make it. The rooms are unique with some rooms having canopy beds and others having wood headboards that extend to the ceiling. The bathrooms are very clean. The breakfast buffet available during the week is exceptional. This location has pool, hot tub, sauna, exercise equipment, restaurant, and friendly staff. My mother and I meet at this hotel annually for a two day retreat and shopping spree. It is perfect for us.”

• I appreciate breakfast being provided. This property did not have it.

“The breakfast was not offered. This would play into future considerations. This property, however, was excellent beyond that. The decor, amenities, on-site restaurant and lounge, and pool were great additions.”

• Could not get in-room internet to work.

“A surprisingly elegant and well-appointed facility, with a staff that goes out of their way to be helpful. Swimming pool is indoor, very large by hotel standards. Continental breakfast goes above and beyond minimum requirements to provide full, balanced breakfast. Free newspapers, other amenities. Rooms clean and spacious.”

• Convenient to my children.
• Not too far from needing refurbishment, no elevator.

“Pleasant staff; old English decor a little overdone, but at least not boring. No easy way to get suitcases to second floor; hotel is not terribly visible from the street. Beds only moderately comfortable. Good chocolate chip cookies in the lounge.”

• The theme of the motel was interesting.
• No bars on the wall by the toilet, no slip proof in tub.

“Very nice. The only drawback was for my dad. There was no bar on the wall to help him get off the toilet, and the tub floor was too slippery. Otherwise, it was very nice.”

• Considered the age of the place, their was a complete lack of cleanliness, hallways were absolutely filthy and cooling was a nonevent in areas.

“The complimentary breakfast at this hotel was poolside in a an extreme environment of heat and humidity, the rooms were less than clean and hallways were disgusting.”

“The room was beautiful. We were greeted with four poster beds with canopy tops. Rooms had double sinks, fridge and microwave. Very clean. It also had the best continental breakfast we have ever had in a motel.”

• It is an older hotel and had a slightly bad odor throughout.

“It is a very unique hotel with a castle and midevil times theme. Staff members were very friendly and the continental breakfast had a large variety of items to choose from. The pool area was very nice. There was a slightly unpleasant odor in the hallways. You can tell it is an older hotel.”

• Decor was lacking, bed was only fair in comfort.

• The ironing board did not have a pad.

• We enjoyed the Blues music in Thursday night and the great service

“It was great, the staff was very friendly and the area was great. We will look forward to staying again. It sure makes the trip a lot nicer when you break it up and spend the night instead of driving 12 hours straight. We are looking forward to coming back and visit the Amanda villages.”
