“The hotel lives up to its name. If given a choice between this hotel and other of its star quality, I will stay at the other. I hate to pay for internet and as a business traveler I need to have it available other than in the lobby.”

• Beautiful lobby, extra sink in room, very clean.
• Bathroom next door was quite loud.

“This property was so much more than we expected for the price. Lobby was first class, rooms were very well appointed, with many amenities. Location was great. Close to many restaurants and shopping venues down a few blocks on Collins Road. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.”

• Very nice and clean. Nicely decorated.
• Pool floor extremely slippery.

“Very nice rooms and hotel. Linens good quality. The one down fall was the fact that the pool floor was slick tile and many children fell on it even when walking. They need to add some sort of texture to the floor before someone sues them.”

• Very comfortable, clean, and the best hotel I've stayed at.
• Nothing right off hand.

“The Marriott on Collins Rd. is probably the nicest, most comfortable hotel I've stayed in. With a pretty busy schedule for our vacation, there wasn't a single thing we had to worry about after we checked in for our stay. The available breakfast buffet was fantastic and made our morning much easier to not have to head out for breakfast on such a cold Iowa morning.”

• As a mom visiting my daughter in college, I enjoyed the tons of pillows and pampered feeling at Marriott.
• Wish they had spa services.

“I have been here a number of times while visiting my daughter at Coe College. The rooms are very clean and cozy, the staff is welcoming and the breakfast buffet is the best, especially the custom omelets.”

• Can't really think of anything negative.

“We were only there a short time but were impressed with the quality and appearance of this hotel. The room was very attractive, clean, quiet and very comfortable. We got a room with a king-sized bed, sofa, chair, desk, and TV. It was very roomy and the bed was one of the best I have slept in, in any hotel. (There were lots of big fluffy pillows, usually there aren't enough and they're almost always little wimpy things.) Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay and would gladly return if the opportunity arises.”

• Being a guest at the Marriott hotel is an absolute wonderful experience.

• Everything very clean, everyone very friendly, rooms were spacious, and a wonderful bed.
• Some problem with noise from other rooms. Heard the bass beat of a TV or radio.

“Overall the Hotel was easy to find, the staff were all friendly from the front desk to the wait staff. The room was spacious and clean. 12 o'clock check out was very nice. Walls were a little thin and we could hear the bass of another guests TV or radio. I would recommend this hotel to friends.”

• Where in the process of remodeling the center attire.

“Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and down mattress pad. Teas, aromatherapy for personal care products. Nice size room and work table. Nice hot water and towels.”

• It had an extremely comfortable bed and pillows.
• Hotel bar glassware was subpart - single malt scotch in a soda-type glass is unacceptable.

“My wife and I went there for our anniversary just to get out of town (we live in Iowa city). There was a wedding going on and a 21st birthday the night we stayed, so the hotel was chock full of kids running everywhere - this was much unexpected. To get away from the noise, we went to a neighboring cinema to watch a movie. Luckily, the noise didn't last late into the evening. The staff (front desk and bar) was helpful and courteous. The hotel interior was nice, but not terribly romantic because the middle of the hotel is wide open - you feel that everyone can see you and is watching you. The room interior was nice and rather spacious, but not exceptional. It did have a comfortable loveseat and table. Had I been traveling on business, I would have found the desk uncomfortable - it had this strange table-within-a-table design, which told me it was not originally intended as a desk. Despite these negative aspects, the bed was wonderful, and I always think that this is the most important element of a hotel stay. A stylish, well-thought-out hotel with uncomfortable beds quickly becomes subpart for me. The pillows were divine as well. I woke up well rested the next day. The remote check-out feature (in the TV) was not functional. I have had the option to do this via the TV before at other hotels, and always passed in favor of a person-to-person transaction. In the end, had to check out the old-fashioned way, which was no big deal, but it seems that it should have been working.”

• Its smoke free hotel - had to wait for elevators all the time.

“Finding out after being committed to a price that this hotel was smoke-free and threatens to charge you In fines if they feel the room has been compromised with smoke, are not a place I will continue to do business with. I did not smoke in my room and did not enjoy my stay as a result. Won't go back.”

• Staff that checked us in was not very friendly, but that seems to be the norm when checking in.

“My husband had some interviews in the area and we stayed there. They printed us out directions at the front desk to get us where we needed to go; they used bath and body works products; we had the romantic package and when we got back from the interviews, we had sparkling cider (our choice), fresh strawberries, whipped cream and two glasses waiting on the bed for us along with a large bottle of Bath and Body Works soap with a sponge scrub. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the next morning, a breakfast buffet was included in our package. It was so good! Staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel beautiful (waterfall and glass elevators were cool) I would love to stay there again. We didn't want to go! Thanks Marriot!”

• We were placed in a handicapped room - also room was too cold & comforter too large.

“I was very impressed with the appearance and cleanliness of this hotel. We travel a lot and this was a great hotel. We did not eat here, so cannot comment on that. I do not like being put in a handicapped room - figured that's where they stuck us. Also there was an extremely large comforter on the bed and the room was frigid with air conditioning, so we spent the night being either too hot (with comforter) or too cold (without comforter). I would stay here again, however - just know now to turn off air conditioning.”

• The pillow-top mattress and the down comforter.
• The hot tub tiles needed cleaning.

“The hotel more than met my expectations. I liked that there was a separate vanity sink outside of the bathroom. The bath products supplied were from Bath and Body Works. The beds had great linens and pillows. The kids thought it was pretty fancy how the atrium was open to the top floor, there were glass elevators and a water fall. The only negative thing I noticed was that the hot tub tiles needed some cleaning. I would definitely stay again.”
