“The Fairfield inn cedar rapids is not disappointing in offering moderate facilities for business traveling at a moderate price. It is clean and attractive with a friendly staff and the breakfast service was above average for motels of this class.”

• The rams are nice and comfy.
• This stay the bathroom wasn't cleaned since last people were in it.

“My two young daughters and I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last month or so. The first time was great. Clean, comfy, much more than we expected. This time wasn't as great. The bathtub/shower had not been cleaned out since the last person who stayed there. There weren't enough towels and the tub was still wet with used soap and shampoo in it. That was pretty gross to me; but we checked in late and I cleaned the tub. If my kids would've used the tub Id have made someone come and clean it first. But I cleaned it sufficiently for my shower. Other than that the room was nice and comfortable. I also love the security this hotel offers; traveling alone with my kids can be scary but I felt completely at ease in this location.”

“This hotel was adequate for our needs. The rooms were cozy, with a nice modern decor. The beds were very comfortable with duvet covers and father pillows! The free continental breakfast was great, and the staff was very helpful. My only complaint was the bathrooms are small and dirty. I didn't feel comfortable washing my 1 year old in there. They're fine for a quick shower though. The water pressure was very good.”

• The staff is amazing. Nice room, 100% no smoking.
• Placed near the highway, so it's noisy. Rooms smell of cleaning products.

“This is a lovely little hotel that offers park and fly for travelers. The rooms are smallish but nicely furnished, bright and attractive. There's free wifi. The staff is exceptionally helpful. The check in lady took me to several rooms until I found one I like (that didn't smell of cleaning solution) and refused to take a tip. On the negative side, it's near a highway and there's truck noise; and bright lights outside shine in the room all night; and they use very heavily scented cleaning supplies that permeate the room strongly.”

• Small area new growth of black mold in bathroom.

• It was clean, attractive furnishings, nice staff.
• Room too small, furnishings smelled.

“This is a nice, friendly hotel with good amenities for guests. They provide free park and fly, which is a good value. The hotel is 100% non-smoking - however the rooms smelled of smoke and chemicals. The rooms are very small; I could not even wheel in my luggage past the beds. The staff was very sweet & helpful, helping me change rooms to try to find one that didn't smell, but she gave wrong answers to simple questions (didn't know the hotel has Wi-Fi or that the windows open).”

• The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is excellent.
• The lack of help received when I left 2 articles of clothing behind when we left the motel.

“The Hotel was excellent in many ways. I often come to this Hotel in Cedar Rapids. The only negative experience I had this time, was that I accidentally left 2 articles of clothing in the closet and when I called to see if I could get them back, the staff was not helpful at all. They told me that they were there and I did not feel they even really looked. I felt like I was just blown off and the housekeeper most likely stole these things.”

• Price, location was ok.
• I booked rooms for two adults but got only 1 king sized bed. Not good for 2 guys.

• Hotel was not very nice when I wanted to change to a double bed room from a king.

“I stayed at this hotel before and had a great experience, so when we were planning a trip to Lost Island Water park. I suggested that we all stay at the Fairfield Inn in Cede Rapids. When my brother asked for a rollaway bed they told him that they didn't have rollaway beds at the hotel even though my sister had one in her room. I can't believe that I recommend this hotel to them. Total embarrassed and won't be making that mistake again.”

• Outdoor pool, clean environment, nice room decor.
• Outdoor room access lacked security.

“Nice clean hotel. Rooms nicely decorated and lobby very upscale. Complimentary breakfast was one of the best available with a large eat in dining area. In summer time the outdoor pool is great for those traveling with children. Both first and second floor room access is outdoors and you have to go outdoors to even reach the lobby, which left me feeling that security was not as efficient as at other hotels. Noise level at night from passing trains and I-380 traffic was quite loud. I would stay again.”

• Convenient to highway and clean. Also refrigerator and microwave in room.
• Rooms were a bit small, but not terrible.

“This is a great hotel for a business traveler or a budget traveler. The entire facility was clean. This hotel has a wide variety for the continental breakfast. The outdoor pool is nice. The highway is very close good for access, bad for traffic noise. Overall, a nice place to stay for a very reasonable price.”

• The staff was great. I checked in late and ask if I could switch t a 2 bed room for the kids and they were very accommodating.
• I having nothing to complain about. I was very satisfied.

“Rooms are clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is in a quiet location and there are several places to eat. If you are looking for a great place to stay that I recommend the Fairfield Inn in Cedar Rapids. I know that's were I will be staying.”

• Neat and clean, great location close to the highway.
• Desk staff were officious and unfriendly.

“Due to unexpected family emergency we needed additional space on short notice. We asked the hotel staff for assistance and we sorely disappointed by their attitude and lack of help. We lodged an immediate complaint with Marriott Corporate offices. We will never stay in this hotel again.”

• From the wonderful heated outdoor pool to the continental breakfast, it was great.

• I love the comfortable bed and pillow and breakfasts.
• When we checked in the gentleman behind the counter had allotted of trouble checking us in. Caused long delay late at night.

“I love this hotel. We come to Cedar Rapids quite often and have enjoyed our stay each time. The rooms are clean and quite and the beds are comfortable. The breakfasts are wonderful!”

“For economy, this hotel is okay. It needs to be more attentive to bathroom space. But it is okay for an overnight stay. Most annoying was noise from constant running halls on floor above us.”

• The interior decor/bedding was very clean and all white with a little accent color, very rich looking, but there was a black mark on the bed.
• Outside entrance is near a busy drive thru eating places, not real quiet.

• Close to the main highway.
• I didn't like that the hotel rooms were outside.

“Nice hotel, but having the rooms outside was a pain. To go work out or eat you had to put on your coat to get to those areas.”

• Cobwebs on ceiling and outside access to most rooms.

“It was ok. It looked to be remodeled in the not too distant past. There was a cobweb on the ceiling of our room. The beds were very comfortable. I don't care for outside access to the rooms. We were able to get a room on the 3rd floor with inside access, but the elevator still went down the outside access, which I find a little disconcerting. The front desk area was located outside the room areas, and the elevator was in located in the vestibule, making us feel somewhat cut-off from the main lobby. I just didn't care for the overall "feel." we were there for such a short time, however (10:00p.m to 5:00 am the next morning), that we were unable to experience much of the hotel. I wouldn't seek it out again.”

• Location slummy; horrible fluorescent light bulbs - wanted to poke my own eyes out.

“The hotel was fine. The staff was great. The complimentary breakfast was great - got to make my own Belgian waffle. Lots of other choices too. I hated the money-saving light bulbs in the room - you're in good shape if you like looking old, washed-out and having every wrinkle exposed. Maybe go if you're 20. Overall, for 50.00 per night though, I¿d stay there again - unless I could get something of equal value on the north side of town.”

• Clean, neat, and secure environment. Bonus was the great breakfast included in room rate.
• Only the top of three floors had inside entrances to rooms, although entry to elevator is key controlled.

“Staff was friendly and efficient. Common areas are bright, clean, and comfortable, especially breakfast area. Breakfast was definitely at the top end for this category of hotel, and is included in room rate. Lobby also includes two computer terminals for guest usage, a welcome bonus.”

“Nice breakfast. Nice newer beds & plenty of nice pillows. Fridge worked great & came in handy. Very small bathroom. The area has a slight odor at times maybe due to proximity to processing plant, but I never smelled it in the hotel.”

• There was a free breakfast that was OK.
• The beds were horrible and felt like someone beat you up.

“This should be a 1 star hotel. It's a motel with outside entrance to each room. The staff sent us to a room with other people laying on the bed. How embarrassing! The facility is very old. The beds were horrible. My husband and I felt someone had been beating on our back all night. The pain continued through Noon for me, but my husband had pain the whole next day. This is an old motel. It is at best a 1 star, certainly does not belong on the 2* list!”

• Easy on/off highway - prompt reply to fix it requests.
• Bugs and ants in and around pool.

“Nice remodel job. Black roaches and ants were all around and in the pool. The stool in our room ran all night. We told them, they fixed it and the next day it was running steadily again. I walked across our room barefoot and my feet collected all kinds of hair and dust and dirt on them. In my opinion this motel did not live up to the Marriott quality standards I have come to expect.”
