• The shuttle service to the hospital was very nice.
• I was very disappointed that a hotel of this quality did not have a continental breakfast.

“It is a nice hotel with average rooms. The price was the only reason I went with this hotel, I would have preferred a hotel that offered a continental breakfast. There are many other hotels in the area that are newer and have that service. I feel it is something they should look into as most Holiday Inns do have this service.”

• I did not like anything about this hotel.
• Backward parking ramp, smoking room when non-smoking requested, convoluted access.

“I will not stay at the Holiday Inn Duluth again. Their parking ramp is the goofiest configuration - an engineering nightmare. Access to the room was convoluted - long winding windowless corridors. This hotel is tired and run down. The one positive aspect - the staff. They were young and very polite.”

“This hotel needs to be updated. It was clean, but it was old. There was no sort of breakfast at all offered (whereas Super 8's, etc. even have something of a breakfast) and the main restaurant in the hotel was closed during most of our stay.”

• Location was ideal.
• Cleaning was not up to par, always seemed late and rushed.

“This is an economic hotel with decent amenities but I found that the cleaning was not up to par. Our room was a mess when we checked in, and every day I'd be walking through the halls well into late afternoon and room cleaning was going on, our own room wasn't always automatically cleaned.”

• Staff was very helpful and courteous.
• Hotel is very outdated, mold in bathroom, uncomfortable beds, would not stay here again.

“This Holiday Inn needs a complete makeover. They have a great staff working for them, but the rooms are terrible. Our shower had mold, the floor had not been cleaned. The elevators are quite small. It seems as if nothing has been updated for many years.”

• Because they were over booked we were up graded to suites.
• There was a light bulb burned out in both rooms.

“The rooms were great- close to one another, although not right next to each other. The staff was helpful and very pleasant.”

• Main entrance to hotel in parking garage was a haven for smokers, stunk always.

• Great location to walk in the downtown area, local restaurants, and Duluth lift bridge. Free parking! Easy indoor access to Starbucks coffee.
• Confusing route to rooms from the parking ramp.

“Holiday Inn Duluth is a nice property. The beds are newer and the bedding is updated. Rooms are spacious and clean. The location is walking distance from restaurants and the Duluth lift bridge.”

• The room was not clean, cobwebs in the corners, hair in the fridge, carpet was not vacuumed, hallway was noisy.

“Location is very good with easy access to attractions, restaurants and shopping. Overall, the hotel common areas are cramped and other than the small lobby, outdated. The pool areas leave much to be desired. The room was not clean, but adequately appointed. The bathroom needed remodeling and the toilet was very loud while it took too long to refill.”

• The front desk was awesome, they were able to give us a bigger room than expected.
• The pools were in atriums, so the air was cold, making you cold.

• It was a very clean and relaxing atmosphere.
• When I called to verify the room the receptionist was rude on the phone.

“Overall my stay was very good, it just started out in the wrong direction with the receptionist being very rude and somewhat combative on the phone when I called to verify my reservation. She was very nice at the begining, then it turned ugly. When I checked into the hotel, the gentleman was very nice and professional. Since I am a priority club member I did recieve some upgrades. Overall, besides the receptionsist, it was great!”

“Great location. Somewhat quiet. I've heard horror stories about rooms by the pool, but luckily we did not get one of those. Good service, friendly, accommodating staff.”

• My friend and I loved the skywalk connected even if we did walk around and explore after hours, it was fun.
• Well I had one small issue with our room but it was taken care of as soon as possible and we were moved, so no real big dilemma.

“Well over all the stay was relaxing, we went to dinner and the food was good. It was just a last minute get away for a friend and me. Even with the minor issue in the original room, it did not make the stay a bad one. The beds were very comfortable. I have in the past had trouble sleeping in other hotels. Not this one.”

• I liked the shuttle. I didn't have to drive to restaurants or shops because of the shuttle.
• The hot tub had a white layer of scum when it was shut off, needed cleaning.

“I was a little taken back by the location. It just didn't seem like a 3 star location. Was apprehensive of going out but because of the shuttle we did. The hot tub didn't appear real clean when the jets were off.”

“Minnesota has passed a law banning smoking in public places yet the hotel still has smoking rooms. We didn't have a choice of a non-smoking room and the hotel was full. Smoke smell was truly sickening. Worst I've ever experienced. Housekeeping might want try Febreeze. We went out and bought some and it made a huge difference. Also, garbage cans had not been emptied and shower had not been cleaned. There was a used bar of soap in the shower. Bed pillows were like over stuffed couch cushions. Impossible to sleep with neck and back in alignment as a result.”

• The view of the city was beautiful.
• We were not able to check in until more than 45 minutes After posted check in time.

“The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located. This was our third visit and the staff has always been generally unhelpful. On this visit, we were unable to check into our room until 45 minutes after the posted check in time of 4:00 pm. The staff offered no apologies or explanation.”

• The Pool was nice and warm.
• Our Coffee Pot was left dirty and bath tub left dirty from people before us.

“The motel is located great but we had two rooms and 1st room bathtub was left dirty and no clean cups left at all. 2nd room coffee pot was left dirty with a used tea bag in it and the tub was dirty with hair in it from previous people.”

• Loved the pool - very clean, very warm water, great little kiddy pool.
• You have to drive on the left in the parking ramps and that was annoying.

“Overall, a great experience. The computer malfunctioned when we checked in and assigned us a room that was already occupied. So we walked in on a family. Scared us and them. Unprofessional, but they remedied the situation and apologized (and I trust they did the same to the people in the room). Other than that, an excellent experience.”

“This hotel provides large clean rooms with two swimming pool areas to choose from. The location was very good for accessing the downtown area and close to Canal Park. It was easy to go to other places from here. The free off street parking was an added bonus.”
