“Overall I thought the hotel was very nice. It worked fine for our overnight stay.” Feb 24, 2008 by
Nick from Cedar Rapids, IA
“It was a very fun trip. My 5 year-old had a blast with the swimming pool, pool table, ping pong, and video games all available. Food was good and room service was affordable. Staff was friendly. Just an overall nice place to stay.” Feb 23, 2008 by
Kim from Waterloo, IA
“This hotel is undergoing renovations, did have some noise, but did not interrupt. It was kind of interesting there were no outside windows so was dark a long time in the morning. Got to sleep in even though by the pool! Nice for those who want that. I enjoyed it but do like a view! The open area for games and fun had a nice feel to it. It has a cozy welcoming feeling extending to the eating area nearby. Enjoyed the exercise room daily. Staff was pleasant and always accommodating, including cleaning staff. I didn't take the time to figure out why internet disconnected so frequently and was slow. I was able to work through it but not without persistence. I see later, there was a number to call. Room had low lighting, we were scrap booking so missed some extra lighting but did ok. Had extra tables/benches that gave space to work and eat. Worth the $47. Just missed the breakfast I can get at other places. Most would enjoy this place, and you can't count all the shops nearby. It's an unending commercial area, but not noisy.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Brian A. from Davenport, IA
“I would recommend this Holiday Inn to my friends and family that visit Cedarfalls. The hotel staff very friendly, hotel is close to restaurants, mall and this hotel was very clean.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Lea from Thornton, CO
“Great price! Clean, yet cozy room, but up to par with decor and comfort. Unfortunately, we checked-out 1 day earlier than planner due to the loudness of partiers outside our hotel room the last night we stayed. We even found 3 puddles of vomit in the parking lot near our vehicle the next morning. We absolutely understand that the hotel does not have control over what patrons do, but we didn't feel comfortable staying at that location, and felt we would get a better night's sleep at a different location. It's not the best "last impression" hotels want to leave on customers minds. I will definitely not stay there again, even at a better rate. Also, let your customers know when there is construction at the hotel. The lobby was being remodeled, not a great "first impression".” Feb 6, 2008 by
Denise from Sheboygan Falls, WI
“Poor design of windows only facing hallways. No privacy if any daylight is desired. Feels like a cave. Hallways reeked of cigarettes. Poor ventilation as cigarette odor permeated through bathroom vent. No fan in bath. Breakfast at restaurant consisted of undercooked eggs and warmed up waffles.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Michelle from Schaumburg, IL
“They are in the process of renovating and the hallways smelled very smoky. The room smelled slightly smoky. I would not stay here again because of the smoke smell.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Adam from Ankeny, IA
“Great hotel, great indoor and outdoor pool, nice large hot tub, and pool view rooms! The area is a little humid due to the pool being in the open area but other than that it is a great place to enjoy the day!” Jan 23, 2008 by
Pam from West Des Moines, IA
“Location great. The 1st night was horrible. We arrived with 3 kids and were told that smoking room was the only room available. The music was so loud coming from a party in the open atrium of hotel, the employee said immediately that the party would be over at 11pm and that police officers were there to end the party promptly at 11pm. So, for an hour and a half, we tried to get kids to sleep with the loud beat of music, breathing in smoke from the smoking room and had to get up at 6 am for a swim meet. Not good. The next night we pleaded to have our room changed. They finally did to a non-smoking room and with no loud party, the experience was much better.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Donna from Puyallup, WA
“We stayed here for six days. The bed (and bedding) was deluxe. We decided to pick our battles and requested (again) the micro/fridge. The fridge showed up and the bellboy muttered something about being back with the micro. Apparently my five dollar tip wasn't enough to entice him back. Disappointing, but we could live without it. The hot tub/pool area is nice, but was loaded with little kids when we were there. Good location with many restaurants and stores nearby.” Jan 5, 2008 by
John from Chesapeake, VA
“Nice place, good location, friendly and helpful staff!” Jan 3, 2008 by
Chris from Clive, IA
“Room is okay for the price. It is an older hotel, but my stay was comfortable.” Dec 20, 2007 by
Jean from New Haven, MO
“The location of the hotel is very convenient for us when visiting our son and his family. The facility is very nice; the overall appearance is attractive and clean looking. The clerk at check in was very cooperative and friendly.” Dec 19, 2007 by
Ronde from West Des Moines, IA
“Wonderful hotel to stay. Exceeded my expectations. Very close to the University of Northern Iowa. Staff and restaurant was wonderful. Beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Catherine from Grinnell, IA
“The bathroom could have been much cleaner. There was mold in the toilet, in the shower, and on the shower curtain. The rest of the room and hotel seemed fairly clean. There were some noisy patrons in the lobby in the evening, but at 10:00pm it was suddenly very quiet as the hotel staff took care of the problem. The pool area was nice, but the pool did not seem heated and was very cold. The staff was very nice and accommodating.” Dec 12, 2007 by
Dave from Carroll, IA
“Nice, but not very quite. But this is a kid friendly hotel.” Nov 11, 2007 by
Harriet from Villisca, IA
“Very easy to find; they are updating rooms, carpets, etc but did not cause problems. We will stay there again.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Cindy from Stout, IA
“It's a great hotel for kids. They have a lot of things to do. Great family hotel.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Barb from Bangor, WI
“Very nice hotel must have been renovated recently. The room, staff, & restaurant food were all top notch.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Bill from Des Moines, IA
“We arrived late, and the desk people were great. The room excited my wife with its cleanliness. All in all, very nice for our weekend.” Sep 26, 2007 by
Paul from Brandon, SD
“Needs updating.” Sep 13, 2007 by
Susie from Placida, FL
“We had our do not disturb sign on door till 1:30 and when we returned at 8 p.m. our room was not serviced. Called for towels and coffee and they were delivered. Even though the cleaning staff was still there when we left at 1:30.” Aug 14, 2007 by
Carol from Beaver Creek, MN
“I was very pleased with the quality and price paid for this hotel. I would highly recommend it to family/friends traveling through the cedar falls area.” Jul 17, 2007 by
Ronda from Keller, TX
“Overall, a great place to stay. Very nice room, and something I have never seen a pillow menu! The pool was nice, but not great for little ones as the shallow end is still 3 feet deep. There is a great game area with pinball machines, video games, and pool tables. The hotel restaurant was fabulous. Very affordable and great menu items. I would eat at this place even if I didn't stay at the hotel. My only complaints are that the dryer in the laundry room was very noisy, (but at least it did work) and we had a room down the hall from the pool and it was very noisy.” Jul 12, 2007 by
Joan from Burlington, WI
“I was surprised at the poor condition of the rooms, was actually afraid to sit on furniture, as it was soiled from wear and tear. Really expected a Holiday Inn to be updated regularly.” Jul 7, 2007 by
Brandi from Beardstown, IL
“Convenient to shopping and fast food. Indoor pool was warm, outdoor pool was very cold. The hot tub jets had very little pressure. The plumbing was a joke. We were awakened to an awful sound, it was our neighbor taking a shower. Pipes clanked and groaned. Tried to take a shower and the water pressure in the tub wasn't even enough to make the shower work. Ended up waiting a half an hour for the neighbors to finish.” Jul 4, 2007 by
Tom from Bondurant, IA
“Hotel was wonderful for the price I paid. Nice, comfortable room. Nice holidome with pool and hot tub. Accommodations were very nice. Hotel staff needs to learn not to charge the customer's credit card when the stay is pre-paid.” Jul 3, 2007 by
Jim from Remsen, IA
“Good location, not far from university, eating places, or shopping areas.” Jun 22, 2007 by
Susie from Placida, FL
“Bad smell in front entry. The game room is open and the noise was loud. No breakfast.” Jun 10, 2007 by
Andrew from Dixon, IL
“An excellent value for the money. This hotel, although not new, obviously has a management staff that is concerned about the property. While I was there, the entire place was clean, smelled wonderful, and was quite presentable. The beds were soft, the rooms we clean and comfy, and the selection of channels was more than adequate for this price level.” May 31, 2007 by
Jean from New Haven, MO
“Overall this hotel is very nice. Although we went to visit relatives and did not use all the facilities it has a pool, bar/lounge area, and restaurant. One drawback was no continental breakfast, you had to eat in the restaurant or go elsewhere for breakfast.” Apr 21, 2007 by
Sharan from Ardmore, OK
“The best hotel in cedar falls, a.” Apr 12, 2007 by
Lori from Cresco, IA
“This hotel is a nice place to stay. It is convenient and well kept. It is a great place to visit with a family - offering a great place to relax and kids to have fun. My husband and I were looking for a quiet get away - it was a little noisy for this. I would stay again though.” Apr 11, 2007 by
Rachel from Waterloo, IA
“This is a nice hotel but the rooms surround the pool and that makes everything smell like the pool. Also there were a lot of kids making noise in the pool that we could clearly hear in our room and it woke up my kids very early in the morning. Since they could see others in the pool from our room, they wanted to swim too. But, it is a nice place and I would go there again. Some of the rooms are tiny and not so great. Definitely not a romantic getaway place. More for families who need a place for a night or two.” Mar 21, 2007 by
Linda from Swea City, IA
“Overall the hotel was great. Restaurant food & service was good. Lots of things for the kids to do, game room, pool, hot tub, exercise room. I would certainly stay there again.” Mar 18, 2007 by
Richard from Humeston, IA
“This is a most enjoyable place to stay, especially if on a budget. Pool and exercise facilities were great as was the restaurant.” Feb 18, 2007 by
Althea from Mason City, IA
“Lovely, decorated nicely moderate sized room with comfy queen bed. Very clean and easy access to the shopping areas and down town.” Jan 14, 2007 by
Lori from West Des Moines, IA
“I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel and the room, a detail that more and more hotels seem to be overlooking these days. I did happen to be starving and the vending machine only had very outdated product in it.” Dec 27, 2006 by
Annette from West Des Moines, IA
“I'd definitely recommend this hotel. The domed area with the pool and games make it family oriented, but there is a sports bar for the adults. The front desk help were quite nice. Our room was a little on the small side (especially the bathroom) but clean and comfortable.” Nov 14, 2006 by
Rachel from Waterloo, IA
“I would not stay here again unless I had too. The room was tiny and the shower backed up while my husband took his shower and scum rose up around his feet. Needless to say, I didn't even take a shower. It kind of ruined what was a birthday surprise getaway night for my husband and me. Also the lamp by the bed had a short in it and would turn on and off at its own will.” Nov 6, 2006 by
Steve from Brookings, SD
“Hotels are measured by the extras they provide. I assume all hotels will be clean and have a nice shower (this one was excellent) a good TV and comfortable beds. This hotel met that standard very well. It is in the auxiliary facilities that most hotels fall short. The pool here was huge (wider than most are long) kept clean and warm. The hot tub was the same, large clean and very hot, something that is often not true. The exercise room was also well-appointed and the equipment was kept in good shape. There were even pool tables and pin-ball machines. More important, the staff was both helpful and friendly. We stay in motels a lot as business travelers and expect a lot from them. This hotel was excellent. The only things I did not like were that the rooms, while adequate, were a bit smaller than I prefer. They also did not have refrigerators or microwaves, which have become almost expected amenities I would recommend this hotel heartily to anyone.” Nov 2, 2006 by
Nick from Altoona, IA
“Great family friendly environment.” Nov 1, 2006 by
Christy from Lenexa, KS
“Overall, it was a nice stay. The kids loved the pool. Accommodated our large group (18) very well. Easy access to university and nearby shopping.” Nov 1, 2006 by
Shari from Clear Lake, IA
“We enjoyed our stay and had an especially fun time with the Halloween decorating contest in progress. The only inconvenience was the fact that there was no elevator. Would be nice to have a continental breakfast and they certainly have the set up for it!” Oct 27, 2006 by
Amy from Ames, IA
“Front Desk staff was not very helpful and courteous to meeting the needs and wants of their guests. Beds were comfortable. ” Oct 26, 2006 by
Stephanie from What Cheer, IA
“Good location. The room needed to be cleaned around the plug-ins and the baseboard better. I went to plug in my credit card machine to the phone jack and the dust and dirt was caked on it.” Oct 24, 2006 by
Ken from Eldridge, IA
“Over all very nice but only smoking rooms were available.” Sep 28, 2006 by
Laurie from Omaha, NE
“Unfortunately, I awoke to a male and female fighting - around 6 A.M. I put a pillow over my head, and went back to sleep. Around 7, I received a call from the front desk that the room next to mine complained about me, and that I needed to "hold it down". I told them I was sleeping, but heard the noise as well. They then walked down and found the room that was making the disturbance. Upon checkout, I commented that perhaps they could have checked the registry to see that I was alone, and wouldn't have called to wake me. The clerk just said "Well, I didn't call you." She never spoke another word to me. I didn't even mind the call - mistakes happen. But the clerk should have owned the error whether she called or not. She did not apologize - just quit speaking. This hotel has been very convenient for my travels, but this clerk probably will make me re-think future visits.” Sep 7, 2006 by
Marina from Eagan, MN
“The hotel was not very full on this Holiday weekend, yet front desk staff was very rude about our "internet rate" not entitling us to any room requests. They begrudgingly gave us non-smoking rooms, but made sure we understood it was only because they were available. They refused my request for 2 beds, stating those rooms cost more (even though they were available and it would not have cost the hotel anything to give them to us). The room was fine but quite small. Housekeeping completely forgot to make up my traveling companions' room and it was after midnight when we discovered it and there was no effort to apologize (offer of free breakfast etc.). Housekeeping missed replacing depleted Kleenix and Coffee in the room they did make up. The Sunday brunch was good and inexpensive. The facilities were nicely redone and well maintained. It was worth my $38 rate, but I would not have been happy to have spent close to $100 for regular rates, for this service and attitude.” Aug 30, 2006 by
Mike from Jefferson, IA
“The Cedar Falls Holiday Inn provides a very good stay for the price. It has an excellent pool, spa, and workout facility and is nicely located. The bar and restaurant facilities are very nice.” Hotel Representatives:
