• Convenient to convention center.
• Overpriced for rather average accommodations.

“This what across from the St. Paul convention center which is why we stayed there. Clean. Staff polite. You could hear everything in the hall in bed in the room. Along an Interstate this type of place would have been $69 a night. It was very overpriced. For about the same amount you could have stayed in a much nicer place a little further away.”

• Close to Excel Center- nice king bed and lots of pillows.
• Had to pay extra $13.00 for parking with no other option or warning. No hot water in morning.

“Could not check in until 4:30 pm as busy.2 drink vouchers given. Disappointed by parking fee. Great Location. Nice atmosphere.”

• The pool and restaurant was convenient with the kids.
• I don't think it was worth $126.00 per night.

• Staff was very responsive to my special requests.
• Noise in hallway; room door was not soundproofed.

“It was true that the noise in the hallways was very audible, although the noise in the adjacent rooms was not. Before I arrived, I asked for (and received) a room at the end of a hallway with only one adjacent room, and for the most part it was very quiet. It was also good sized and faced the back of the hotel, which I would imagine to be a quieter location in general. But again, the only noise problem seemed to be related to the room doors, which are about as soundproof as a cardboard door would've been. Windows and walls seemed to be soundproofed well.”

“This was a good hotel for the money and our expectations. We didn't hear noise from other rooms, but did easily hear people in the hallway. The room itself was pleasant and comfortable. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location for downtown activities.”

• I really liked the location and its accessibility to the area. The restaurant was excellent.
• It was very noisy at night due to events in the area. Security finally had to be called at 11pm.

“Other than the noise problems of other guests in the evening, and the lack of friendliness upon check in, the hotel experience was a good one. The location is excellent and the restaurant provided great atmosphere as well as food. The hotel did what they could to compensate us for the noise level, which was much appreciated.”

• Needs updates in room, carpet, bathroom towels, bedspreads.

“When arrived at hotel I was given 2 double beds on a smoking floor with a smoking room. Yuk! Smelled horrible! The hotel attendant had me check the room out and had the room sprayed for me. It helped a little but not totally! They hotel had no rooms available for me to change. The floor was smoking so every time you opened the door it stunk! Also, then they charged us 14.00 each night to park in the garage, the hotel was not nice enough for that, you would think I was in some ritzy downtown hotel.”

“Alright location was good, that was about it. There were bugs in my bed that unfortunately I found in the morning. Still trying to get my money back. It was okay but hotels are always just that.”

• Staff responded to our concerns.
• No non slip strip in bath tub 83 year old mother with me concerned about her & me falling.

“Staff responded to our concerns when we told them about the bath tub. I hope they are doing something about it. Offered us $40 towards restaurant breakfast. I thought they would include some type of breakfast buffet for the price we were paying.”

• The cleaning lady kept trying to clean our room before we checked out.

“The hotel was very clean, nice atmosphere, and excellent service from the staff we encountered. It was the perfect spot to stay for the event we were attending, and has great access to food, fun and the interstate! We will definitely stay at this hotel again!”

• We paid $13 for parking plus our price, bad surprise.

“Be aware that the parking is $13. Over the price of the room. Surprise. The keys for our room would not work, but were replaced when we returned to the desk with them. For our trouble we were given a coupon for a free drink.”

• The check-in clerks were unfailingly friendly and helpful as were the other staffs.
• The parking was overly expensive and complicated.

“River Centre Holiday Inn in St Paul is an upscale and comfortable hotel convenient to down-town and waterfront attractions in St Paul. It's also convenient to many of the colleges in the area and is minutes from several freeways and relatively close to the airport.”

• Its location was quite convenient for the things that we had planned to do on this trip. Staff dealt with guest noise quickly.
• The kids would have liked a bigger pool, but they loved their breakfasts.

“Would not stay here again but it was nice to have the excel center across the street. The room was small for the money. The bathroom was too big; they could have used some of the bathroom space for the room space. I don't agree with the fact that people who stay at the hotel have to pay for parking in the garage when the price for a room is high enough of the way it is.”

• Pay for parking, security of my car in danger.

“The hotel was nice and in a good location as far as stuff to do (Excel Energy, Science Museum). But to Pay for parking at an upscale hotel seems a bit ironic. Also it wasn't in a parking garage or shared space with hotel guests only; it doubled as an event parking space as well. Plus the hotel takes no responsibility for lost or damaged goods though you have to pay to park on their premises.”

• I liked the patio restaurant/bar.
• Very noisy.

“I thought the staff were friendly, helpful, and took extra time in answering questions. It is an older building so the room was small, but recent remodeling helped it feel updated. The outdoor patio restaurant/bar was my favorite part of the stay because it was a nice balmy evening to sit out and enjoy a delicious grilled salmon meal, served by a great waiter.”

• Location, near Convention Center, Ordway Theater, River Center, other downtown attractions.
• Pool is very small, almost a large hot tub (hot tub also available).

“Very friendly, accommodating staff. Easy walking distance to Ordway Theater, Convention Center, and Science Museum. Easy access to 35E / 494W, about 10-15 minute drive to Mall of America. Would definitely consider staying there again for our next trip to the Twin Cities.”

“The hotel was located in downtown St. Paul with easy access to expressway and nearby sites. Everything was fine except for noisy hallways from 12:00 AM to 3:00 AM. The room was very poorly insulated for hallway and street noise. The hotel did deduct parking for this inconvenience which is what I would expect from a popular hotel chain. I would stay again if they could arrange a quieter floor.”

• It was surprisingly quiet (there was a Rush concert going on at the Excel Center) and the beds were very comfortable.
• The room was a little small and the weight machine in the gym area was in bad shape.

“The location is terrific and the parking situation worked out well for us too. We really loved The Life whether we were having a nightcap downstairs or a beer in the open air patio.”

• I was charged for parking in the garage when the payment machine for the public was broken so they weren't being charged but hotel guests were charged.

• Ideal location to public attractions.
• Don't think we should pay for ramp parking when a guest at the hotel.

“This was the second time we stayed at the holiday inn. Again the location is ideal whether you go to the excel center or science center. Park, stay and walk to where you need to go. Very clean and comfortable. Hope to back again sometime.”

• Convenient to concert venue, very friendly staff.
• Not a big problem, but the rooms are smaller than other facilities in the area.

“This is a very convenient location for anyone visiting the excel energy center for a concert or event. Right across the street. Lots of nice bars and restaurants and convenient affordable parking is adjacent for just $13 per day and night. Lobby is small, but adjoins nice bar and restaurant. Hot breakfast via room service was great and only $7 for a full meal.”

• When I arrived I was greeted with a warm welcome. They asked if I had any questions in a friendly way.
• I think the room could have been a little bit cleaner. I also did not realize that parking was going to be $13.00.

“If needed to I would use this hotel again. I was not a 5 star hotel but it did the job that I needed. P.S. The hot tub could have been warmer.”

• Service Recovery- The hotel did have thin walls, our neighbors were loud at 3:30 a.m., and the hotel compensated us with free meals.
• The thin walls.

• Our room was loud we were put in a room that had mechanical/air conditioner etc right outside the window, had holes in the chairs and very small.

• You have to pay $13/nt. to park in their lot.

“I really liked the hotel and the staff was very friendly. However, when I called to ask if they had rooms with two beds to accommodate my two small kids, they told me it would be an extra $10/night. When I got there and checked in, she asked me if I would like a room with two beds, and that it would be no extra charge. They need to get their info straight.”

• Easy to get to.
• $14.00 per night parking which you don't know about at the time of purchasing the hotel room.

“Nice room, clean, comfortable and I got the kind of room I requested. Also appreciate the ceramic cups for coffee as compared to paper, makes a nice difference. ”

• The location was especially good for us.
• We would have enjoyed a 10:30 AM breakfast. The restaurant was closed from 10:30 - 11:00 AM.

• It was comfortable, classy and convenient. Staff was efficient and effective.
• Noisy guests hung out in the hall outside our door for about 45 minutes around 3AM.

“The hotel was clean, comfortable, modern and easy to find. I'd recommend it to anyone.”
