• It is a newer facility, not an old, rehabilitated one.

“This is a typical Hotel, more recently built than some chain motels that have rehabilitated old facilities, nice-sized rooms, relatively good beds, nice-sized television, larger bathroom than many, pretty well kept (this one is well kept, inside and outside), nice breakfast, pool (inside), etc. This motel is an excellent value.”

• It was very clean and the rooms made you feel at home.
• It did not have a continental breakfast.

• They let us check in three hours early and found us convenient rooms
• The air conditioning wasn't working well in one of the rooms

“I was very impressed with the friendliness and hospitality that the front desk person showed us. We arrived three hours early and even though our reserved rooms weren't ready, she found us three convenient rooms close together and let us check in when we got there.”

“Located just north of the Rosedale shopping and dining area, the Fairfield Inn offers clean facilities for the family looking for a bed, a pool, a breakfast and a smile. It ain't flashy, but it's perfect for the family on a budget. One downside: no food within walking distance. ”

• The breakfast was really nice to have available
• The key cards didn't always work...it took multiple tries each time you wanted to open a door

“This was a very welcoming hotel. The cleanliness left a bit to be desired. There were crumbs on the floor and their were hairs stuck to things in the bathroom. All of this was there when we enterend the room. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was pretty good, too! I would likely stay there again.....it was a great bargain for the price!!!”

• The front desk help was very accommodating with some changes that we needed at check in - courteous and kind!

“This is a very nice hotel to stay in. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast is great and was kept well stocked right up until 10:00 A.M. The rooms are spacious and the beds are more comfortable than most hotel beds. Definitely a great find!”

• The check in was a breeze -
• Not a lot to not like - maybe could have used another vending machine??

“It was me and two children - we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the staff was nice and everything seemed to be in order -- also we had to leave early in the morning and the breakfast was all set up earlier than 7:00 a.m. so we were able to eat before we left. Worked out great.”

“This hotel was average at best. Our room was not ready at check in, about an hour late getting it ready. The room smelled horrible, we needed to keep windows open to air out. 5 degrees outside kept room cold however. The pool area and continental breakfast were very nice. It was OK for the price.”

• Each time I have stayed at this location, they have put my room on the noisy freeway side of the hotel.

• Staff did their best to make a poor situation workable.
• The room on Friday night was terrible. It was obviously not used often and one of us had to sleep on the floor.

“The hotel was very poorly staffed. There was only one person working in the entire hotel when we arrived on Friday night. When the room was not acceptable the attendant had to leave the front desk and go up to third floor to get blankets, etc., from a smoking room. We were left waiting in the lobby. I think the situation is unsafe and limits the service that they can provide.”

• I could hear the people in the room next to mine talking very late into the night.

• The staff was very accommodating, we had a special circumstance we needed to take care of and they were very helpful.

“This hotel is located right off the interstate in a convenient location, it is close to a variety of eating establishments and also a mini mall and gas stations, what more could you want! We truly have enjoyed staying here, our son plays basketball for Concordia in St.Paul and we have stayed here at least 6 times in the last four years and have always been happy.”

• No restaurants around the hotel

“I was very impressed that I could get a room in that price range with the services and features. When I first entered the price, I was afraid that I was going to get a room that was in the Motel 6 range but it was not. I was also impressed that there was no miscommunication about the reservation when I showed up and that everything was taken care of (checking in took 1 minute). Also, I liked that I was able to request a double bed room.”

“The staff was helpful and courteous, except for one incident: our room was on 3rd floor, facing 35W, which is the noisier side of the hotel; my husband asked if we could be switched to another room and were told we could switch to another room, but on same side of hotel. The AC fan wouldn't keep running, which normally would block out much of the highway traffic sound. AC didn't adequately cool the room. And bottom sheet on the bed wasn't tucked in, couldn't be tucked in so we actually ended up lying on the mattress pad/mattress by morning -- I know sheets are changed daily, but how often is a mattress pad changed and how often is a mattress sanitized? Otherwise, room and accommodations were acceptable.”

“Rooms were very clean. Free breakfast was ample and good. The front desk staff should be able to give clear directions to the hotel over the phone. The staff person I spoke with had no clue how to guide me there from a major highway and, in fact, sent me in the wrong direction.”

“What surprised us was that the second morning we went down to breakfast at 8 am (and they served until 9 am) they were out of most everything - just a few of things were both juices, apple and orange, and coffee. The second thing was that the whirlpool was not working during our whole stay there.”

“The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable. The newspaper was appreciated, and the breakfast was good. However,the carpet around the beds was dirty, and there were no cups or plastic liners for ice! After coming in rather late to a cool room, we turned on the heater only to have the smoke alarm go off. Honestly, the hotel rating should have been at least a half star lower.”

“Hotel was very good but I did have to wait for the room to be ready. I arrived at 3:45 and had to wait till 4pm even thou check in is 3pm.”
