• Size, location and amenities of the room, especially the bathroom

“Very well located within the downtown area, fairly close to light rail, restaurants and entertainment areas. Well appointed rooms, very nicely remodled and redecorated bathroom. Nice common areas, helpful, friendly staff.”

• The room was comfortable and the furnishings were top-notch.

• Staff was very helpful, the room was beautiful and the location perfect for where I needed to be.
• No complaints.

“I stopped at the first Hilton on Marquette - I'd been driving in a white out and just wanted to get to my room. I thought that's where I was supposed to stay. It was beautiful. I parked in the drive and went to the desk. I learned the Marquette, also a Hilton Hotel, was 3 blocks north. I got back in my car, concerned I'd be disappointed. But I was not. The Marquette is beautiful - the staff was great.”

• I love Hilton beds. We slept like babies.

“It is great hotel. It has very good location with parking in the same building and reasonable parking cost ($12 per day). It is right in the middle of the downtown, very convenient. And Hilton has the best beds. They are not too soft, not too hard; just right. I love the linens and blankets. The bathroom was very nice as well. Nicely done.”

• The location was great and the room had all the best amenities.
• The main entrance is a little difficult to find.

“The Marquette was one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at. Our room was on an executive floor, which allowed us access to the morning breakfast bar and afternoon cocktails. The room was above my expectations- including two different types of showerheads, soft robes, free bottled water, and a 42' flat screen TV. The bed was comfortable, as they are in all Hilton hotels. And even though we accidentally stayed an 1/2 hour longer than checkout, the staff did not charge us or bug us to leave right away. I would definitely stay here again!”

• Very clean hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff and perfect location for getting around downtown Minneapolis.
• Nothing really. I enjoyed my stay very much.

“Everything was great! Easy to park my car. Quick check in/check out. Beautiful clean room. Comfy bed and terrific shower. Very friendly and efficient staff. Requests were handle very timely. Location was perfect for getting around Downtown Minneapolis. Will stay at the Marquette anytime. And will recommend it to my friends!”

• Very small lobby - felt unwelcoming.

“The Marquette is probably one of the best hotels in downtown Minneapolis. I was there for a wedding, and of all of the various hotels in which my group ended up staying, our room was unanimously voted nicest, coolest, and most comfortable. It was also very convenient to everything and as such the group used it as our base of operations. From the giant LCD television to the clean, ultramodern bathroom, the Marquette was a great hotel.”

• Aside from the room service, the staff didn't seem to understand the amentias offered and was poorly trained.

“Central location, yes, but pretty clueless staff. A better value and more space than a comparable room at the Westin, but my stay at the nearby Marriot was a much more pleasant experience. No valet, but there is a garage next door.”

“I would not classify this as a four star deluxe resort. It was the basic business class with a big desk. It didn't cut it for our romantic get-away away from our six children. We were disappointed. No pool, no hot tub; and we paid an extra $20 to park.”

• Good location.
• Dangerous and faulty crib that fell apart when my baby was put in.

“My first impressions of the hotel were great, but that soon fell apart along with the crib for my baby. At check-in I was told that the crib was already in the room when it wasn't. When it did come, my baby fell right through because it was faulty. My baby was traumatized by that and that was the beginning of a long night. A sturdier crib did arrive, along with apologies from hotel staff, but I wish they had brought this one first. This hotel does not take infant safety seriously. To top the experience off, I left my telephone number with the hotel manager, who promised to follow up on us later, but it's been a week and I still have not heard from them. This was just a terrible experience I don't wish on anyone else.”

• It was beautiful, very clean, and the location was perfect.
• I wish I had known that parking and internet would be extra.

“The Marquette is one of the nicest hotels in the Downtown Minneapolis area that I have stayed in. The staff was very helpful and the accommodations were perfect for business or leisure. It is located in Downtown with shopping and dining just minutes away. St. Paul is only a 10 min drive from here. I am in the area monthly, and have sampled many hotels in the area, but will be staying here from now on.”

• It was close to the train station so you didn't have to drive.
• No vending machines, very expensive to park and very expensive to eat.

“This is a very nice hotel if you do not have a budget. There are no vending machines or pop machines in the entire hotel, you have to use the mini bar or bring your own. This hotel is Downtown, so nothing is open on the weekends. We were trying to find somewhere to eat breakfast on Sunday morning and ended up waiting until we went to the mall of America because everything was closed and room service was very expensive. There is also no pool or hot tub in this hotel and you have to park in their parking ramp, which is $20/day. It is a very nice hotel, but not if you have to stay within a budget.”

“Room was freezing cold, had to call for a space heater, room still did not warm up. Had to call 3 times for a rollaway cot. Room service was prompt but way overpriced and food was of low quality. Bathroom had mold, shower door would not close, had a tag on towel rack telling me that bathrooms were undergoing a major renovation spring 2008 (big deal) this is not a 4 star hotel.”

• The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable.
• The bathroom needs updating.

“This is my favorite Downtown Minneapolis hotel. The rooms are well appointed and beautifully arranged. (The TV is not the focal point!) The beds are extremely comfortable with luxury bedding and firm mattresses. The hotel is completing a total bathroom remodeling in the next couple of months, after which this place will be more than a little bit of heaven away from home!”

• The location and decor were great.
• The staff were borderline rude. The room had an incredible cold draft which made sleeping extremely miserable.

“Once we arrived they gave us a room with one king bed and offered an "upgrade" for an additional money or roll always for additional money. Staff was not friendly and could be considered rude. Then once in the room there was a cold air draft that created a cold wind and made sleeping impossible, even with winter coats, blankets and layers of clothes on. It was below a 1 star experience for us.”

• Non smoking room smelled strongly of smoke.

“Very friendly staff, room had nice view, and if you like ultra firm beds, this one's for you. I would stay there again, although if more than one night, I would ask for a different room only because our non smoking room smelled as if someone had recently smoked in it.”

• Access to indoor walkway to other businesses 7 hotels.
• The bathroom tub and shower had mold.

“The bathroom was not very clean, with mold in the shower and tub area. We asked to see another room, but it also had bold in the tub and shower area. It is my understanding they will update the bathrooms in 2008. In the meantime, this is not a 5 star hotel in my opinion.”

• It was clean and spacious and relaxing.
• The lobby and lounge are a bit confusing for size, staff, where you are supposed to go.

“I felt comfortable, relaxed and very safe in the elegant and spacious rooms and surrounding area. The concierge was helpful, fun and knew the community well. The table wait staff in the lounge went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. I had a lovely experience and would go back in a heartbeat.”
