• Breakfast was great; staff was great & tried to remedy issues.
• Cleanliness; maintenance issues; shower curtain hooks broke & not enough of them.

“I immediately brought 3 issues to their attention & they immediately came up and in less than 5 minutes had taken care of them. The staff was very accommodating but general preventative maintenance does not appear to be reported. The following morning several other issues were identified and reported. I love staying
at this chain, but this particular hotel needs room updating; I talked to the manager before leaving, they were apologetic & offered to make things right with me.”

• Great views, consistent stays in Embassy.
• Breakfast for Embassy was well below par for normal expectations.

“Great hotel, in line with all embassy suites. Great staff, great bar and restaurant, only thing lacking was the quality of breakfast the net morning which is kind of a signature thing at an embassy.”

• Attractive, accommodating. Liked the suite.
• The hide-a-bed was not very comfortable so we put mattress on floor.

• We loved the hotel! The managers' cocktails lasted 2 hours. Free drinks which is great! Shuttle to concert @ wells Fargo was excellent.
• Hotel water bottles in fridge should be free, not $4.00!

“We will definitely stay in this hotel again! We used the fitness room; the free buffet style breakfast was great after a long night at a concert. The free drinks from 5:30-7:30 were just what we needed after spending a chunk on the room and the free shuttle to and from concert were awesome!”

• Free bar and breakfast.
• Hot tub was out of order--no compensation. This is what my kids wanted most.

“Overall-nice stay. Had to ask for extra blankets--but they came quickly. NCAA girls basketball teams and fans staying there--but quiet group. Pep band played in lobby at one point--enjoyed activity.”

• I thought the hot breakfast was nice.
• My room seemed dirty and needed a remodel. Very dirty carpet.

“The room was okay; however, the carpet had numerous stains and looked very dirty. The shower was lukewarm at best. A free Internet connection would have been nice. The restaurant in the hotel clearly needed some help the food choices were not great and the meal was not great.”

• I liked its location.
• There is nothing I did not like about this hotel.

“I really like the embassy suites. Its location is great, and the rooms were immaculate. I had a trouser malfunction, and they had a traveler's sewing kit to save my night. Their shower is pretty comfortable, too. I didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel room, but when I was in there, it was amazingly comfortable. I plan on staying there again in the future.”

“As in all Embassy Suites, its great to have the 2 rooms and kitchenette. The lobby was great; however, the rooms are looking kind of tired. I would return though.”

• Good hotel, not good on weekend do to children.
• Can not control weekend guest.

“The Des Moines Embassy Suite Hotel is a great hotel that can not control there weekend guest. On multiple occasions I have been very disappointed with the youth running around the hotel properties up until 1:00 to 2:00.”

• I loved the location it was beautiful by the river.
• The bathroom was a little small.

“The Embassy Suites in Des Moines is a beautiful place to stay. The area is a safe place to take the kids and walk to the sites. The Capital building is only 5 or 6 blocks to the east and is a neat site to see at night with the golden dome all light up. The river front is also beautiful to go and look at. It was very easy to get to from the interstate even with all the construction going on.”

• Very friendly staff - complementary evening reception and cooked-to-order breakfast fantastic!
• The construction on the street in front of hotel-had to pay for parking.

“Fantastic and beautiful hotel. In the heart of downtown Des Moines - close to many fine restaurants and to the Civic Center. The evening reception and cooked-to-order breakfast were wonderful. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. The room far exceeded our expectations and we had a great time. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!”

• Upper class with large rooms.
• Not linked to down town walkway's.

“If you are in town for a convention it is not conveniently located otherwise the hotel is first class with large rooms, friendly staff and great complimentary breakfast and happy hour service in the evening.”

• The staff, breakfast, managers reception, location.
• Bathroom wasn't cleaned very well. Houskeeping was called an addressed the problem and was very apologetic.

“ I called the hotel and asked if they would give me a non smoking room. The employee I spoke with did but when I arrived, the desk clerk said they only had smoking available, even though there was a notation in the computer.This has happened to me the last two times. I have since bought a room for two nights in SC, I have requested a non smoking room there as well. If, by chance I don't get a NS room. They connot gaurantee.”

• It was clean but not perfect.

“I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again myself. Even when asking for a room change b/c our first room was across from the elevator and a bit noisy, the staff were understanding and found us a different room, matching our preference. Within walking distance to the Wells Fargo Arena, a great place to stay and walk to a show.”

• The iron did not work.

• Very friendly and accommodating staff
• Could have used another shuttle bus for this busy weekend. One was not enough.

“We really enjoyed our stay. I would have preferred to not have been given a smoking" room as we don't smoke and the smell lingers but it is a busy weekend during the State Tournament. I thought they should have been able to accommodate our request however, since we made our reservations 10 months early. Other than that, the room was immaculate, the housekeeping and front desk staff friendly and the stay a pleasant one."”

• Valet attendants were great. Staff was super friendly.
• Room was a little dirty. Could use a deep cleaning.

“Great location and convenient to everything. I thought the staff went above and beyond. I had a couple of issues with the phone upstairs and they fixed it right away. Never charged me for the valet parking at all...not sure why. I questioned them about it and the management said it was on the house." Considering I was there for so long, that was a pretty good deal. I travel a lot, and that is the first time I ever got a break on parking. I thought the service was great, so not sure why they did that. But very much appreciated. It saved me about $90.00. Very nice people. Food was also good and pretty reasonable for a hotel."”

“This hotel was absolutely the most unpleasant experience in all my years of travel. The management staff had no control of the establishment. Banquets had booked an international event where most of the guest were not staying at the hotel but were present for the festivities. There were hundreds of adults and children pooring through the lobby, banquet halls, front door, entrance area and into the street. There were dozens upon dozens of unattended children running, unattended and throwing matter from the upper levels down onto the attrium. I attempted to check in at 12:30 in the afternoon. The facility was in a state of chaos. It remained in a state of chaos with 3 year old children running unattended in the lobby until past 2:30 in the morning. This was brought to the attention of the hotel night manager. Security was in the lobby making no effort to control the situation. One of my guests who also stays in hotels 300 nights per year asked to speak to the on duty manager. Once the staff could locate him, he seemed to feel that he had the situation under control. He believed this even though there were guest from this party (not staying in the hotel) sitting on patron's cars in the lot with alcohol in there hands, One such car was one of my guests. When asked to take the necessary steps and shut down the bar (at 2:30 A.M.) and call the police to disban the loitering on the premises, the manager refused. At this point we took it upon ourselves to notify the police to make an informed decision as to what was appropriate beahvior at the wee hours of the morning. Again, by far, a painful experience. Needless to say the entire hotel was filled with trash, broken glasses, empty cocktail glasses and in general was far below the usual standards of any hotel.”

“The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the managers cocktail party it gives everyone a chance to unwind after a long day. The cook to order breakfast was good a nice change from the usual continental breakfast most hotel serve.”

“My daughter and I stayed at the Embassy Suite and it was fabulous. We had a beautiful room and the full breakfast was a real bonus. I was very satisfied with the hotel and the price we were able to get if for.”
