• Excellent beds; excellent and attentive staff; great location.
• The rooms are a little tight.

“This is an excellent business hotel. Clean rooms and public areas. Very convenient to the airport. Courteous and efficient staff. Other than other travelers having the poor manners to appear in public areas in their bed clothes it was an A-1 experience.”

• Staff rude and unwilling to accommodate, no indoor pool or hot tub.

“I will personally never do business with a Hampton inn again. I think I would have rather stayed at the motel 6. Recently a group of us reserved two rooms for a conference in the area. Firstly, online, they had listed they were only 5 miles away from the arena we were going to for the conference. This was actually around 12 miles away. There was no indoor pool or hot tub and the outdoor pool was covered so no one could use it. For the price of the hotel room, I would have rather stayed at the Marriott. At least at the Marriott they treat you well.”

• The window shade didn't keep out all the light from the parking light outside my window, too bright.

• Van was old and dirty.

• It was my 1st stay at the hotel, I was impressed with the hospitality of the staff and the breakfast accommodations were fantastic.
• The room was slightly smaller than I expected.

“Yes, I would return for future stays. The hotel was clean and even though I had a smoking-room and I'm a non-smoker, the room was bearable. I liked the homey feel of walking into the lobby in the evenings and enjoying warm cookies and milk with my family. I was spoiled with hospitality.”

• Friendly staff and breakfast in the morning, also comfortable beds.
• The exercise room was too small and no ventilation.

“This hotel is conveniently located by the airport, and stores to get things in a pinch, also Grays Lake Park, beautiful Park in Des Moines less than 2 miles away. Just a beautiful area and easy to get to. I will definitely consider Hamton Inn again, even the owner stopped and said good morning, in the breakfast area. I really enjoyed my stay for 2 nights. ”

“We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, our first experience with them. It had a beautiful lobby with a very nice continental breakfast. We had everything in our room that we needed. It was nice and clean and nicely furnished.”

• I liked the breakfast served and the lobby area was nice.
• The room could have been cleaner, there was hair in the shower and sink area.

“I enjoyed staying here with my husband. The hotel lobby was pretty and a comfortable place to relax for breakfast. The rooms were attractive. However, the staff on that day seemed to be at the front desk and answering phones all alone which meant delays. Also, there was some hair in the shower and by the sink. The rest of the room was clean so this may have been a fluke oversight but it was still a bit unpleasant. Overall I would still give it high marks.”

“The service was excellent. The room was not large but it was nice. It was clean and had everything we needed. There was hot food for breakfast, with 2 breakfast attendants keeping things clean and food well stocked.”

• Pull out sofa was broken as well as very worn out. Thank goodness it was only needed for one night. Staff responded to notification the next A.M.

“It was great! Very clean, comfortable. When asked to deodorize a smoking room for us (not smokers) they were very prompt in doing so. Breakfast each morning was excellant. The staff very freindly. Couldn't have asked for anything better in my opinion!”

• very clean, new furniture, carpet, etc.- One of the cleanest, most comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in!
• they only provided 2 bath towels- had to call for more but they were very prompt in bringing us more towels

“Right across the street from the airport, it is a very convenient location. It looks like it is either new or recently remodeled because everything in our room was new- the carpet was clean, the paint on the walls was flawless and the shower was awesome! It had an outward-curved curtain to make the shower very spacious. We were just very pleased with everything at this hotel and cheap!! We couldn't believe we got this Hampton Inn cheaper than one of the other hotel sites wanted for the Motel 6 next door. Awesome!”

• It was conveniently located to where we selected and was acceptable for the rating level.
• Not the nicest hotel that I have stayed in.

“Located right across from the Des Moines airport made it very convenient to catch an early morning flight without having to wake up extra early. The hotel had cookies at night, and a breakfast bar in the morning (however, not the biggest or greatest). It had an outdoor swimming pool and an exercise room. It was very much set up for the business traveler.”

• I had a severe headache and they went to the store for advil at no charge and brought it to my room. Wonderful, helpful staff.

• The pillows were great.
• The outdoor pool was under construction and unable for guests to use.

“Staff at the hotel were good, I had forgotten contact solution and they offered to go do Walgreens to pick me up some. I was very disappointed with the situation with the pool, it was a part of the hotel that I was expecting to get a lot of use of, I would guess that it will not be operating all summer. The hotel also offered a full breakfast in the morning which was nice and the room was decent in size.”

• This Hampton Inn has a GREAT breakfast buffet!!
• The swimming pool was inoperable, and in June that's not good.

“I would recommend it highly. It has free High speed Internet, a great breakfast buffet and very friendly helpful staff. The cookies, fresh baked, are a great touch.”

• Clean, spacious and quiet - even though near airport
• The pool was closed down, yet no work was being done on the area the 4 days I was there.

“Convenient to the airport (across the street), within 10 minutes of downtown, close to the zoo and county park. A very nice location. I was there with my 4-year old grandson, and he was very comfortable with the hotel. However, the pool area was closed down, the concrete patio around the pool was evidently under repair (the concrete broken up), yet it appeared there was no effort being made to complete work on the pool, although it was already summer. The hotel, itself was very clean and quiet and the breakfast buffet was exceptional.”

• For its 2 star rating, it provided an excellent breakfast and has a good exercise facility.

“Because of its location, this hotel was very convenient for my purposes. I travel quite frequently and try to find the right mix of price and perks. I thought this hotel provided an excellent breakfast. It also has a small exercise facility that allowed me to get a workout in. I would stay there again if the situation presents itself.”

• Outdoor pool should be noted. This is IOWA!! No way to use pool in March!! Bad breakfast!!

“Hotel was OK. Good if you need a place to stay before or after a flight from Des Moines Airport. The pool was outside. This is in IOWA there is no way to use an outside pool in March!! We took our kids there for a weekend away, and had no pool to use. The rooms are VERY small. There was supposed to be a breakfast buffet, but it was a normal continental breakfast with a nasty breakfast sandwich added.”

• The room was very nice. The airport shuttle to and from the airport was helpful. The continental breakfast was more than adequate.

“It was a great hotel to stay overnight when traveling out of town because it's so close to the airport. The breakfast was ready on time and was enough to hold us over on our flight. The hotel was very accommodating not only providing a shuttle to and from the airport but we able to save some money by leaving our car there during our trip. Excellent value.”
