• Having a full kitchen in the room.
• No swimming pool.

“This hotel is located in a business park, but just a couple blocks from the mall. Hallways were quiet and clean. Room was rather large. Room was clean. Had a pullout bed from the couch. Contained a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave and all needed dishes and utensils.”

• Full kitchen, soundproofed walls, bed & couch comfort, roomy.
• Ice in parking lot.

“This was my second stay here in about 18 months. I cooked in the kitchen. It was well laid out. The couch had comfort. The bed was very comfortable. This Studio + is built better than some of their other locations.”

• Having a kitchen in the room was very nice!
• The pool was closed the whole time I was there.

“I was in town for a week for training and found that this hotel was perfect for me. It was like coming home to an apartment every night. Made the trip a little bit more relaxing. Very quiet hotel at least while I was there. Staff is friendly. Great location near shopping, and eating establishments. I will look to stay here again for future extended trips to Des Moines.”

• The room was a one star quality not attractive or clean. Needed updating.

• Room was quiet, staff friendly and helpful.
• Much dirt/debris under furniture, i.e. loveseat. Beds only fair in quality.

“Fairly quiet location, staff friendly. Kitchenette was decent. Beds mediocre support quality. I laid on floor to do back stretches and was disgusted to see popcorn, dirt and debris under loveseat. I was afraid to look too closely.”

“I would not stay at this hotel again, not sure if they cleaned at all. Our first room smelled like dog pee and was not clean at all. Tub was dirty, floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned, dog hair on the couch, dusty, gross. The second room didn't smell but sure could have used a good cleaning, dusty, bathroom a little cleaner. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone even for the convenience.”

• The location was good.
• It was dirty and smelled like food and rotten food. The no smoking request is not honored either.

“The room was dirty, the carpets appear not to have been cleaned in quite some time. The room I ended up staying in had a drain clog in the bathtub, so I don't know whose past dirt I was standing in and the stopper to make the water go upto the shower didn't close adequately so there is a lot of water wastage. The refrigerators smelled. I ended up buying some bleach cleaner at the grocery store. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Just because it's a one star rating doesn't mean it shouldn't be adequately clean.”

“Hotel was easy to find. It is close to food areas and a mall. It is fairly close to the interstate without being right on the interstate. The person at the front desk was nice and inviting and explained everything very well.”

• Liked having fold out couch so my partner had somewhere to sleep.
• Desk clerk promised fresh towels but didn't deliver; had to go down and get them.

• The location was good.
• Dirty.

“My husband and I could not believe how dirty the rooms were. The 1st room had a big stain on the sofa sleeper with some type of animal hair all over it, we complained and got a 2nd room, it was just has dirty and there was a wash cloth and hair on the sink, the 3rd room's kitchen had food crumbs all over the counter. That was enough for us, we didn't stay. That should tell you how bad it was. I think you should take this one off your list.”

“My door wouldn't shut and lock when I left. I had to slam the door shut. That woke up other guests and they weren't too pleased. I notified the front desk that I had a reading light burned out, the tub would not drain and my door would not lock from the outside. They informed me that their maintenance girl was out with a bad back. When I left I shared with the young lady how the room wasn't as clean as it could have been. I explained details and she said she would use my room as and example to the housekeepers.”

• The person at the front desk was very nice. It was in a nice location.
• The room wasn't very clean. Maybe because they aren't used to cleaning it very well. It's a long-term suite stay.

“It's a good place to stay. I was simply disappointed that the room wasn't that clean. The bathroom had hair, urine drips, and just looked like it had recently been used. If I was at a friends house, and it looked like that, ok. It was decent and I like my friends. But I was paying for it to look fresh and new. The floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed and the sheets were questionable. It didn't fall into the same category of niceness as the hotels you give as examples of 2 stars. Really, they just need to do way- better on the cleaning and they'll do good.”

• Full kitchen in room saves money and allows healthy eating options.
• Rooms sometimes seem a little outdated and not in top condition.

“The location of this hotel is FANTASTIC if you want to be close to West Des Moines businesses and shopping! The kitchen in each room is a GREAT benefit as it saves money and allows a travelers to eat more healthy food options. I really appreciate that. The fitness room is very handy. The hotel has areas that look a bit outdated, and sometimes the rooms are not as clean as they could be, but the staff has always been quick to fix any problem.”

• The location.
• The coach in my room was not clean. It had not been vacuumed.

“Everything was great except for the coach. The coach was full of hair and it had some food around the edges. I didn't have time to tell the staff because I was on a tight schedule. Normally, I would have called down and had them come up to vacuum it down. I could not sit on the coach because I didn't want to get hairy.”

• Full kitchen is very economical and allows for healthy eating.
• Hotel seems a bit dingy, especially in the hallways and public areas.

“Convenient location and full kitchen make this a great choice for business travelers. The bathroom layout isn't as good as other places, but it isn't bad, either. TV choices are somewhat limited. Fitness room and laundry are nice options, as is the pool in the warmer months. Staff is very helpful overall, and I am warmly greeted whenever I stay.”

• Having a kitchen in the room was wonderful-I was able to prepare my own meals.
• The check in location is a bit odd- a simple office desk near the front door.

“Nice no frills motel with very suitable rooms, comfortable bedding and great location in West Des Moines. My only complaint is the noise of the room heater but I complain about those at most motels. Someone has got to invent a room heater that operates quietly.”

“The hotel was extremely dirty. The staff was friendly, but not helpful. They stood outside the front door of the hotel smoking, so when you first arrive and walk through the front door, you are walking through billows of cigarette smoke. The hallway stunk. They also changed my room three times: one room, the toilet had dried feces in it, another room, stunk really bad and all the rooms we tried were all dirty, and instead of cleaning a room, the last room they had available, I had to stay in because it was the least dirty (but dirty). I slept in my clothes all night, as I had nowhere else to go and they did not have any rooms available, nor cleaned a room. The room stunk; the kitchen area had hair in the refrigerator and freezer, and dried coffee stains. The microwave was not clean. The bathroom had visible mildew all on the shower curtain. A very horrible hotel and very horrible stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• The room was huge and very clean. The staff was also very friendly.
• No DVD players in the room.

“The hotel room was huge and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. That was probably the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. It would be a great place for a get together.”
