• The girl that checked us in was not helpful and lied.

“We had asked for a king bed and the girl said they had none for the two nights. Had one for Thursday but not Friday. I called in Friday night to see if any were available and there were kings available. She was not accommodating.”

• Motel changed rooms for us at time of check in to accommodate handicap.
• No continental breakfast.

• The manager was very nice when there was a problem with our room.
• The pool was closed the entire time we stayed and they kept saying it would be working soon and never was.

“The hotel was nice; however there were several problems with our stay. The manager staff was very friendly and helpful, there were several people at the front desk who were not helpful and didn't want to let you talk to the manager. Once we got to the manager they were helpful. The rooms are bigger than most hotels so it is very nice when traveling as a family.”

• Pool, Jacuzzi and coffee.

“Well. We stayed two nights and were unable to use the pool. They closed it for maintenance. Some kids that night did something in the pool. Also, the Jacuzzi was cool water, not hot, so could not use that either wanted to relax after a long day and could not in luke warm water. We were disappointed. Also our coffee maker did not work. We called down and had to wait a half an hour to 45 minutes one morning to get a new one. First time housekeeping brought up coffee packets after a half an hour wait. Finally, the desk mgr brought up two cups of coffee from the buffet, after we finally got a new coffee maker and 3 calls to the front desk. My wife and I went there to relax and renew our relationship for our five year anniversary and wanted to work out and relax in the pool and Jacuzzi which was disappointing. Asked the front desk for compensation and they said could go to another motel to swim. We said forget it. We wanted to stay in the hotel and not get in our car to just use a pool during the day and at night we did not want to go outside.”

• Sunday brunch.
• Too many children running through the halls. Hot tub was not hot.

“Maybe it was because of mothers day weekend or a tournament in town but there were kids everywhere, running up and down the halls and riding up and down the elevator, was looking for a relaxing weekend and did not find it at this hotel.”

• The room had a nice appearance. The hotel was conveniently located.
• Very noisy and did little to stop it. Lost power in our room while getting ready.

“All in all, this is not a terrible hotel. However, I would expect a 4-star hotel to have rooms that can accommodate 2 hair dryers running at the same time. And, if that becomes an issue, getting to the room quickly to correct the situation. We ended up finishing getting ready without power. My daughters' hair was 1/2 done (they finished getting ready when we arrived at our next destination). I said something when I checked out as it had been 30-45 minutes since we called to tell them and the desk clerk simply smiled and told me the maintenance man had been very busy that morning.”

• The staff was pleasant to be around and printed out directions for us to local attractions.
• It was smoke free and we are smokers.

“It was relaxing and plenty of room thought out the hotel. I like how the exercise rooms were divided into two rooms. The food was great. We went to the bar and the bar tender treated us like we had been friends for years, we were impressed how the bar was laid back and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.”

• Front desk employees were not as friendly as other motel employees are that we have stayed in.

• Ambience, cleanliness, comfortable bed, good furnishings, excellent breakfast buffet.
• Pillows too soft, breakfast was expensive!

“We had stayed at this hotel in 1999 when our son and daughter-in-law were married. Over the past 7 years and a change in ownership, one might expect negative changes, to the contrary, everything is well-maintained and the service and accommodations met our continuing expectations. There was only 1 problem: I made a long-distance call (as per your instructions) to request the bed type. I requested 2 rooms with 2 beds each. When we arrived only 1 room was 2 beds, however the problem was resolved promptly and with no confrontation. Everyone was very helpful, pleasant and we will return to the Sheraton whenever we are in West Des Moines.”

• I love everything about this hotel. Its very luxurious!
• Pillows were not firm enough for a side-sleeper.

“This hotel is very easy to find/conveniently locate. The lobby is a wonderful greeting to the traveler w/ a huge waterfall. The staff is very friendly and informative. Dining and lounge are nice too. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and clean! This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Des Moines, and fits my companies allowance for a hotel stay.”

• There are only 2 elevators for the entire 12 floors.

“Overall the experience was great. It was however, very frustrating to have to wait so long for an elevator. I was on the 8th floor and the hotel was booked solid. I waited 20 minutes to get one of the 2 elevators to transport luggage to main floor.”

• It was hard to look at the lobby from high up, made me dizzy.

• It was convenient to where we wanted to go in Des Moines.
• The bedding was not clean. Spread and blanket was soiled. Bathroom had drain odor. Heater didn't work.

• Beautiful multi story water feature, large open area.
• Slow elevator, always full, their is only one stairway available to the lobby, not great for slow elevators in a large facility.

“While the hotel was lovely and rooms were great, the above situation was a problem. The hotel was full of kids, we were there with our daughter for a volleyball tournament, there were also young wrestlers and another youth event in Des Moines that weekend. The elevators (2) go all the way to the top and collect passengers so if you're on a lower level floor the elevator is typically full. The stairs available to the lobby are in one corner of this large hotel, other exits lead outdoors, I guess. Starbucks coffee, if you like that, not my choice!”

• Easy to find, staff very helpful with my needs. Location of other restaurants near.
• Last two nights there was more noise than was necessary (State basketball tournament) People were running through the halls.

• Very pretty, very clean and attractive.
• Noise echoed toward top of atrium, by our rooms. No continental breakfast.

“Hotel was easy to find, close to the interstate. It had a lovely lobby and friendly staff. The whole hotel was non-smoking-Wonderful! The rooms were very lovely and clean. The only draw back is that the noise from the lobby/atrium echoes toward the top. But once you close your door the majority of the noise went away. We were on the west side of the building, by the interstate, and I rarely heard any traffic noise. Overall I was very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay there again.”

• The room are very comfortable, staff very helpful, staying again this week, and in the future when I need a place in Des Miones.
• They had a Rap concert in the area, many of the younger people stayed their , up all night but the staff did their best to control.

“Rooms very comfortable, would like a fridge, the hotel was clean and very relaxing. Beds are the best and the room colors are relaxing, everything I wanted and more.”

• The hotel lobby and restaurant services were wonderful.
• There were a lot of unsupervised children in the pool area, not necessarily the hotel's fault.

“Excellent place to spend a weekend with all the luxuries of room service and accommodations. Their weight room and exercise rooms were excellent, and we loved the sauna, pool, and hot tub.”

• Environment was so beautiful. We came for the bridal forum and there was plenty of room for that.
• We missed not having a coffee/ continental breakfast available.

• Comfortable beds, disposable cups, shower curtain rod pulled curtain away from tub.
• The windows were dripping moisture on the inside. The rooms opened out to an atrium where the noise carried up to the 7th floor.

“We enjoyed out stay. Our room was clean and spacious. However, the windows were dripping moisture on the inside. We meant to mention something at the front desk but unfortunately we forgot. Also we had children running up and down the hall making all kinds of noise. I know this is not the hotels fault. 3 star hotels are more likely to have children staying at them. It might be nice if hotels had a floor that was for people who did not bring children along. Of course then again sometimes adults can be more obnoxious then kids. LOL The rooms faced out to an atrium. The piano music and noise carried all the way to the 7th floor where we were staying. We did like the fact that there were disposable cups. The beds were very comfortable. The shower curtain rod curved out so we had more room in the shower area.”
