• All carts were in use and no bellman on duty, however, the desk clerk helped me with my bags.
• One of the elevators was being worked on and it made for long lines.

• Rooms were nice & delicious coffee from the restaurant.
• Pool was too cool; food was good, but restaurant ran out of food for thanksgiving day meal.

“The hotel itself was very nice and impressive. I think it would be wonderful for a conference or business or leisure. But we were traveling with small children and other families with small children. It would have been nice to have an enclosed space for the children to play and the adults to visit.”

• Good food, helpful at front desk.
• Second night stay had no room.

“The room key didn't work. Soon a lady comes to the door and there was another couple in our room. The front desk seems to think that when the cleaning lady come and found no clothes in the room, she didn't think we were coming back. The front desk still had us checked in but yet they gave our room to another couple. I don't think they should go by what the maids think and go by what the computer says.”

• Good location right off the main highway.
• Liked everything.

“Nice place, easy to find right off the highway. Room was very clean along with the bathroom. Front desk was great with directions and parking was easy. Arrived to find a wedding in the lobby that was odd but it was a pretty area with a water fall and glass elevators.”

“Caters to event parties, others be darned. 10 minute elevator waits. Still charging $9.95 daily for internet, come on, it's 2008. My last stay here. Motel 8 is more personable and convenient. (and better lighting) Over-rated and under-designed for the volume of patrons.”

• The bar staff, the room were clean and comfortable.
• Construction in the parking lot damaged my car. The breakfast was good but diner was not worth the price.

“Over all we had a good time until it was time to check out and found a major dent in my car do to construction in the parking lot. The management was not helpful and at times difficult. The staff however was great, the room was clean and the pool was fantastic.”

• Saturday morning breakfast buffet in the hotel's restaurant was delicious.
• Cleanliness of hotel room was less than adequate.

“Overall, stay was satisfactory. Room was less than expected. The carpet in room was buckled across the middle of the room. There was coffee grounds splattered on the wall by the coffee maker. However, the beds were very comfortable and the hotel staff was very friendly.”

“I showed up at 10pm with my husband, 2 young (sleepy) kids, and 7 months pregnant. They only had a queen bed available for us. They said they would send up 2 rollaway beds for the kids and took over an hour to do so. This place was not worth the cost.”

• Location of stairs only one set went all the way to the ground floor.

“I spent two nights in this hotel while on business. The room was clean, the hotel was very luxurious i.e. glass elevator, nicely decorated atrium etc. There were three computers for internet access and three more in the business center with printers. Nice location for shopping too. I highly recommend this hotel for any type of traveler.”

“Good hotel, great service and staff, safe location and easy access to Interstate. Small but adequate pool area. The hotel is designed like an Embassy Suits with an open, enclosed courtyard. The only negative was that they charged for wireless internet access. They did provide computers and wired internet service in a special designated business area on the first floor, but they need to make the wireless internet access free.”

• Great location, beautiful hotel.
• We went the second night without sheets on our bed and when we asked for them we didn't get a response.

“The hotel was beautiful, but when it comes to service we were let down. The first night we asked for an extra pillow and it took 2 hours then they took the sheets off our bed the next day and we didn't get any put back on. We called room service when we got back at 11:30 P.M. when we were exhausted from being at a park all day and waited all night and still didn't get sheets to sleep on. Poor service for a 4 star hotel.”

• The beds were somewhat hard and should have been two queen size instead of 2 full size.

• Friendly, convenient, very nice atmosphere, clean, nice pool, everything in the room in working order.
• No complaints.

“Enjoyable stay, even though we only stayed one night. It was quiet, we all rested well. Everything in the room was in working order. Bedding was clean and fresh. Room was nice size with nice decor. Had a very pleasant stay.”

• The girl that checked us in was not helpful and lied.

“We had asked for a king bed and the girl said they had none for the two nights. Had one for Thursday but not Friday. I called in Friday night to see if any were available and there were kings available. She was not accommodating.”

• The manager was very nice when there was a problem with our room.
• The pool was closed the entire time we stayed and they kept saying it would be working soon and never was.

“The hotel was nice; however there were several problems with our stay. The manager staff was very friendly and helpful, there were several people at the front desk who were not helpful and didn't want to let you talk to the manager. Once we got to the manager they were helpful. The rooms are bigger than most hotels so it is very nice when traveling as a family.”

• Pool, Jacuzzi and coffee.

“Well. We stayed two nights and were unable to use the pool. They closed it for maintenance. Some kids that night did something in the pool. Also, the Jacuzzi was cool water, not hot, so could not use that either wanted to relax after a long day and could not in luke warm water. We were disappointed. Also our coffee maker did not work. We called down and had to wait a half an hour to 45 minutes one morning to get a new one. First time housekeeping brought up coffee packets after a half an hour wait. Finally, the desk mgr brought up two cups of coffee from the buffet, after we finally got a new coffee maker and 3 calls to the front desk. My wife and I went there to relax and renew our relationship for our five year anniversary and wanted to work out and relax in the pool and Jacuzzi which was disappointing. Asked the front desk for compensation and they said could go to another motel to swim. We said forget it. We wanted to stay in the hotel and not get in our car to just use a pool during the day and at night we did not want to go outside.”

• Too many children running through the halls. Hot tub was not hot.

“Maybe it was because of mothers day weekend or a tournament in town but there were kids everywhere, running up and down the halls and riding up and down the elevator, was looking for a relaxing weekend and did not find it at this hotel.”

• The room had a nice appearance. The hotel was conveniently located.
• Very noisy and did little to stop it. Lost power in our room while getting ready.

“All in all, this is not a terrible hotel. However, I would expect a 4-star hotel to have rooms that can accommodate 2 hair dryers running at the same time. And, if that becomes an issue, getting to the room quickly to correct the situation. We ended up finishing getting ready without power. My daughters' hair was 1/2 done (they finished getting ready when we arrived at our next destination). I said something when I checked out as it had been 30-45 minutes since we called to tell them and the desk clerk simply smiled and told me the maintenance man had been very busy that morning.”

• The staff was pleasant to be around and printed out directions for us to local attractions.
• It was smoke free and we are smokers.

“It was relaxing and plenty of room thought out the hotel. I like how the exercise rooms were divided into two rooms. The food was great. We went to the bar and the bar tender treated us like we had been friends for years, we were impressed how the bar was laid back and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.”

• Pillows too soft, breakfast was expensive!

“We had stayed at this hotel in 1999 when our son and daughter-in-law were married. Over the past 7 years and a change in ownership, one might expect negative changes, to the contrary, everything is well-maintained and the service and accommodations met our continuing expectations. There was only 1 problem: I made a long-distance call (as per your instructions) to request the bed type. I requested 2 rooms with 2 beds each. When we arrived only 1 room was 2 beds, however the problem was resolved promptly and with no confrontation. Everyone was very helpful, pleasant and we will return to the Sheraton whenever we are in West Des Moines.”

• I love everything about this hotel. Its very luxurious!
• Pillows were not firm enough for a side-sleeper.

“This hotel is very easy to find/conveniently locate. The lobby is a wonderful greeting to the traveler w/ a huge waterfall. The staff is very friendly and informative. Dining and lounge are nice too. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and clean! This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Des Moines, and fits my companies allowance for a hotel stay.”
