• Starting to show its age. Room was not up to 3 star level.

“This is becoming an older hotel and the age is starting to show. I have stayed in a number of hotels in the West Des Moines/Clive area that are newer and/or nicer than the Marriott.”

“Hotel was great except the room was too small for us. We've stayed there many times only in a suite. They were booked solid and had none available however provided us with a roll away at no charge.”

• We liked that there was a speaker in the bathroom, so we could hear the TV while in there.

“Our room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. I appreciated the comfortable chair to read in. We slept well in the bed. The staff was nice and helpful to us.”

• It was clean, new, and convenient for a traveler passing through.

“The receptionist didn't check my ID close enough and almost gave us someone else's upscale room. I wouldn't have minded that, but that seemed a little iffy. Otherwise, our stay was great. The hotel was close to the interstate and close to West Des Moines' upscale Jordan Creek Mall, which made for a nice relaxing dinner just minutes away.”

“I was not able to check in before 7 pm and so they gave my room away. I was quite take aback that they suggested I buy another room because they did have rooms available but they would not honor the one I had already paid for.”

• Clean, safe, fantastic restaurant and comfortable bed.

“I asked if we could have a fridge. Before my husband could arrive with our luggage, a fridge was delivered. The front desk staff was friendly and informative. The restaurant wait staff was knowledgable and efficient. Food was awesome.”

“This was a very comfortable hotel that was easy to find. It was conveniently located to other spots I needed to see in the Des Moines. It was also a sort distance to the airport, which help me logistics for traveling between Boone, Iowa, headed on to San Diego.”

“Fast check in and out, easy to find off interstate. Parking area could be better but satisfactory. Hot water right away in bath. Many attractions close by.”

• Front desk clerk was super!
• Bartender was less than average. He was not welcoming or helpful.

• The bed was fabulous, enjoyed the TV and nice whirlpool.
• The whirlpool instructions stated not to enter if over 104 degrees but how was I to know?

“The hotel was easy to get to and find. Parking was good. No problems registering. They had a nice restaurant and bar. Bar was way too high priced, $6 per drink. Restaurant menu looked good but we didn't eat there. Room service options weren't too bad. Wish there was some sort of free breakfast. Had trouble getting into pool/whirlpool area with room key. Had to pull up on handle instead of push down. Pool/gym/lockers were nice, liked the option to shower there instead of going to room to shower.”

• Wonderful bed, clean, liked the shampoo/conditioner Mo. Tiger football team was staying and got to visit with some coaches.

• Extremely clean, most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel.

“This hotel was fantastic. It was very close to the airport. It was very clean. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept on.
This was better than the condo I stayed in in Maui.”

• Rooms were very nice and bed was very comfortable. Modern and flat screen TV with HD.
• Wasn't anything I didn't like.

“I got very nice room. Centrally located, plenty of nice restaurants and entertainment just a minutes away. Room had a flat screen TV with HD channels. Bathroom had a huge shower with glass doors. All in all, couldn't have asked for more.”

• Great hotel and smoke free.
• Not much for a scenic view. The bed was a little hard for our taste, if you like a firm mattress you will be pleased. Other than that nothing.

“The lobby and adjacent amenities were very nice. The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. They even offered a variety of pillow options and plenty of towels. The pool/spa and fitness areas were clean and ample room allotted. Did not hear the usual hallway or bathroom sounds from other areas. My husband particularly liked the flat screen TV. Located conveniently near restaurants, mall, convenience store/gas and interstate access. All smoke-free!”

• The thermostat in the room was difficult to read and to reach.

“We had a beautiful room in a beautiful hotel! The TV was huge, had fabulous picture quality, and we really liked the fact that the sound was wired into the bathroom. My husband had a terrific breakfast from room service, served by a very friendly staff member. What a great experience overall!”

“We were overall pleased with this hotel. My only complaint was the front desk during check-in. We were tired and she was taking a personal call vs. helping us. I've stayed at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and have experienced world class service there - I know that's a hard standard to live up to - but certainly everyone could learn from it. The beds and linens are great and the room was quiet.”

• Walls too thin, got no sleep due to highway traffic, kids running in halls.

• There where no signs for maid service (later) therefore they where knocking at my door at 7:30a.m. Waking us up. I was not happy.

“The whirlpool was way too hot, not enjoyable. None of the cleaning staff spoke English so you couldn't even ask them for anything. We had to ask for our rollaway two times before we got it. Dirty dishes sat in the hallway-way too long. Breakfast should be free. It was very expensive. Overall, I could have gotten the same room for allot cheaper.”

• Clean, comfortable room. The pool was a great temperature and not overcrowded.
• Buffet breakfast was basic. The dining staff did not keep up with cleaning tables as guests had finished dining.

“I had an excellent time on our one-night stay at this hotel. Room was clean and very comfortable to sleep. A very quiet restful night. Pool was great fun for the whole family. Definitely a place to stay again.”
