• Great hotel and smoke free.
• Not much for a scenic view. The bed was a little hard for our taste, if you like a firm mattress you will be pleased. Other than that nothing.

“The lobby and adjacent amenities were very nice. The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. They even offered a variety of pillow options and plenty of towels. The pool/spa and fitness areas were clean and ample room allotted. Did not hear the usual hallway or bathroom sounds from other areas. My husband particularly liked the flat screen TV. Located conveniently near restaurants, mall, convenience store/gas and interstate access. All smoke-free!”

“The lobby was nice as well as staff, very friendly. Our room was also nice and clean, my only complaint was the waiter during breakfast only brought our drinks and never came back to ask if we wanted anything else, such as orange juice, etc.”

• The thermostat in the room was difficult to read and to reach.

“We had a beautiful room in a beautiful hotel! The TV was huge, had fabulous picture quality, and we really liked the fact that the sound was wired into the bathroom. My husband had a terrific breakfast from room service, served by a very friendly staff member. What a great experience overall!”

“We were overall pleased with this hotel. My only complaint was the front desk during check-in. We were tired and she was taking a personal call vs. helping us. I've stayed at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and have experienced world class service there - I know that's a hard standard to live up to - but certainly everyone could learn from it. The beds and linens are great and the room was quiet.”

• They upgraded to a nice suite and gave complimentary breakfast buffet since we were celebrating our 45th anniversary.
• We were very pleased, no complaints.

• Walls too thin, got no sleep due to highway traffic, kids running in halls.

• There where no signs for maid service (later) therefore they where knocking at my door at 7:30a.m. Waking us up. I was not happy.

“The whirlpool was way too hot, not enjoyable. None of the cleaning staff spoke English so you couldn't even ask them for anything. We had to ask for our rollaway two times before we got it. Dirty dishes sat in the hallway-way too long. Breakfast should be free. It was very expensive. Overall, I could have gotten the same room for allot cheaper.”

• Clean, comfortable room. The pool was a great temperature and not overcrowded.
• Buffet breakfast was basic. The dining staff did not keep up with cleaning tables as guests had finished dining.

“I had an excellent time on our one-night stay at this hotel. Room was clean and very comfortable to sleep. A very quiet restful night. Pool was great fun for the whole family. Definitely a place to stay again.”

• We liked the swimming pool and hot tub. The pool was open until 11:00 pm which was nice.
• We had trouble with our stool in the bathroom not flushing, but had a nice maintenance man come immediately to fix it.

“I would rate this hotel a 3 1/2 star. It was very clean, had a very nice atrium and pool area and the staff was very friendly. They made a couple phone calls for us and looked for coupons to Living History Farms and Adventure land. I would recommend this hotel and will stay again if we are in the area.”

• Thousands of screaming kids at the pool. Maybe an hour per day just for adults to enjoy the facilities.

“How about an hour or two per day where only adults can use pool etc. It is hard to relax when a thousand screaming kids have taken over the pool area. That is why we stopped going to another hotel in Des Moines. If they can call a time out at a public pool for adults to enjoy the pool, why not at a supposed 3 star hotel. Other than that it was fine. How about a roll of toilet paper instead of two sheets to start the night with.”

• When we first walked into the room, they were a musty sort of odor and the carpet was a little damp.

• Room was presented well, comfortable king size bed, upscale bath fixtures, and 42 inch LG CRT TV.
• Partner thought she smelled smoke in smoke free room, I didn't smell anything. Internet cables were stored in the closet, couldn't find them, awkward.

• The beds were very comfortable and they put us in a room by the pool. Nice restaurant.
• Saw a dead cockroach in the hallway and whirlpool was too hot to go in.

• The speaker from the TV in the bathroom would not shut off.

“This was a very nice hotel. My husband and I stayed for our anniversary and it definitely met our expectations. The rooms were a good size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a speaker from the TV and we could not turn it off. Also, the hot tub was so hot that we couldn't sit in it. We did not complain to the staff about these things, so I don't know how their customer service is. We did use the pool and the fitness center in the morning. The fitness center had a nice variety of equipment and had personal TV's on each machine. Also, I used the phone for a local call and got charged for it. That shocked me as I have never heard of charges for local calls. I guess they take you for all they can get. Overall, though, a great place to stay.”

• Staff was very courteous. Front desk had sufficient staff available.
• The walk from the back door to the elevators is a long distance. My wife had hurt her knee; the long walk made it inconvenient.

• Very convenient location off the interstate.
• Many little things overlooked.

“We got to the room and were excited about free high speed internet, but the connection cable in our room didn't work. Also, there was food outside in the hallway from someone ordering room service (when we arrived at midnight). The dishes/food were still there outside the room at 9am. Downstairs, there was free coffee available, but they were out of cream. We also called down to order breakfast to go and then after 15 mins, we stood around waiting at the restaurant for someone to dish up food for us from the buffet. In the time we wasted waiting, we could have sat down and served ourselves from the buffet.”

• The only way to get into the hotel was through the front entrance and the parking lot seemed dark.

Distant from city center, but access to I235 minutes away and Downtown just a 15 minute drive. Close to shopping and other local attractions. Just a great place to stay in the Des Moines area.”

• Extremely friendly staff - wonderfully comfortable beds and fastidious cleanliness. Located right off the interstate for easy access. Marvelous food.

The room was immaculate and as comfortable as I've come to expect from a Marriott. The lobby bar was warm, friendly and elegant. “I love the Marriott hotels primarily because of their bedding, the closest to my bed at home. I love down blankets and lots of fluffy pillows. The rooms are always very attractive and welcoming and they have great flat screen TV's. The staff is always very helpful.”
