• Nice hotel with very friendly staff. Breakfast was nice.
• Too many children.

“This was a good hotel overall, but since we were looking for a nice quiet romantic weekend this was not a great choice since there were so many families and children around. We wanted to sit in the hot tub and pool but the whole area seemed like a play ground with all the kids. They seemed to be having fun though so it must be a great hotel for families with children.”

• Clean and extra roomy.

I think we could have had a couple more people in the room with us (3 of us in one room, 2 in another room) without any discomfort; could have compacted our two rooms down to one.”

• Great Spanish design matching the Plaza district.

• The parking garage and parking lot were too cramped.

“My husband and I stayed at this hotel and had a nice time. It was beautiful!! Our initial reactions were wow! We had a king suite, which was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't eat the breakfast, but it was packed. The staff was very friendly. A nice, autumn walk to the Plaza which isn't far away at all. Only complaints were the parking (cramped and limited), there was a water spot in the ceiling above the shower head, the toilet needs help, and dishes were left out in the halls during different times of day.”

• The decor was different and very beautiful inside the hotel itself.
• The room was very stuffy and not as clean and updated as expected.

“The location and atmosphere of the hotel was wonderful. I was very pleased with my initial sighting of the hotel until we got into the room itself. The room was not as updated and comfortable as expected. We had a king suite and the king bed itself was nice. The sofa bed was dirty and dingy. The room felt musty and moist everywhere. Overall, the sleep was uncomfortable. I probably would not come back just because the room made me uncomfortable.”

• The made to order breakfasts and complimentary happy hour.
• They didn't tell us they were putting a $50 charge on our debit card in case we use bought things in our room. (They took it off.)

“The Embassy Suites was great! The hotel staff was very accommodating and very helpful. They sent down an engineer when the bubbles weren't working in the spa for example. I loved our stay in KC, it was very relaxing! A great place to visit. Good shopping, great food, fun things to see!”

• I prefer hotels with suites and this one fits the bill.
• Music from the conference areas will keep you awake.

“Overall I was pleased with my stay at the Embassy Suites. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The dinner at the cattleman was excellent. The only negative for this stay was that the hotel was hosting a class reunion. This made parking difficult (too few spaces) and I was forced to park on a street behind the hotel. There is no distinction between parking for guests staying in rooms and for guests attending functions. Additionally, the music from the conference area where the reunion was being held was too loud and could be heard in the guest room until late hours.”

• Very close to Plaza. Great atmosphere.
• Pool was closed for repair.

“Me, my wife, and our two & four year old, as well as my wife's 89 year old grandmother (with wheelchair & oxygen), stayed for a weekend. The hotel was beautifully decorated and well maintained, and the staff was very friendly. The room was clean, well appointed, and had a great view of the surrounding area. The breakfast buffet was okay, (standard buffet fare), but it's free so why complain? Our only disappointment was the pool being out of order during our stay. All in all, would definitely visit again.”

“The staff was helpful and friendly. We used the shuttle service often and it was a very good experience. The food was good and the cocktail hour was a nice addition. Only complaint was the pool was packed with kids no place for adults to lounge.”

• The pack of children running through the lobby.

“A winner! I look forward to staying here again the next time I am in KC. It is just 3 blocks from the Plaza and from Westport. The staff is wonderful-courteous and patient. There was a large group of children staying at the hotel; they were rude to the staff and throughout it all the staff maintained a courteous and professional demeanor. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through KC.”

• The rooms were very nice.
• Parking was minimal and the parking garage was muddy and flooded in lower lying areas.

“We came to Embassy Suites on the Plaza as a getaway for Memorial Day weekend. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We loved the Manager's Reception (complimentary bottom shelf alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks) and the complimentary made to order omelets and breakfast buffet. There were a few downfalls; limited parking, areas of the parking garage were muddy and flooded, our bathroom toilet was a bit loose from the floor and the air conditioning fan was loud if you turned it anything above low. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay.”

• Too far to walk to the plaza, but parking was free.

• Lady bugs in room. Bathroom was very small.

“The bathroom was so small you could barely shut the door; sink was separately in the room. The pool area was nice and well maintained. The restaurant was average. There were dishes and trash left outside rooms various times throughout the day which was not appealing.”

• Constant facility issues, not enough parking, restaurant not sanitary.

“The Embassy suites chain is great at providing little extras; it's lovely to have free breakfasts and drinks, and even more lovely to have two rooms to spread out in, especially for families. Unfortunately, this particular hotel has some real facilities issues; the pool area is showing its age and snow and ice cracked a skylight, causing engineering to close the entire pool area. The parking facility is plain ridiculous; spaces are tight for even our compact car, the entire lot and garage are one-way, but not well-marked, so that we constantly encountered even the hotel's own shuttle drivers driving the wrong way, necessitating one of us to back up so the other could get through. The weekend brought weddings and high school dances, with hundreds of extra cars. Upon driving around in the rain for 30 minutes, I ran to the front desk and asked where to park. I was told to park in the "overflow lot" which turned out to be a hospital employees' lot. The hotel was completely unconcerned about our trouble finding parking, but eventually chose to give us some scrip for the restaurant/bar when we pointed out that we'd missed the "manager's reception" from driving around looking for a space and enduring rude hand-gestures from their high-school-dance attendees. This turned out to be a mistake; we ordered pizza from room service the following night only to find a hairpin in it! The front desk again seemed unconcerned, even raising suspicions that we were lying, by saying, "that's odd, there are no women working in the restaurant tonight." of course, that didn't include our server (female) and the bartender (female). They grudgingly took the pizza off the bill but left all the other items on, because of course those were uncontaminated (we think). Generally, the embassy suites concept is a great one. But the hotel is only as good as its weekend desk staff.”

• I liked the room size, decor and the bed was comfortable.
• The size of the bathroom.

“A great place to stay especially if you have kids that enjoy having their own space. We like the fact that they can be in the living room area to watch TV and we can shut off the bedroom if we want to watch a different movie or do something else.”

• The free breakfast buffet was wonderful. I have never had food like this at a hotel for free. Also the free shuttle service was outstanding.
• The hot water and cold water were not marked correctly on the tub.

“This hotel went beyond our expectations. It was a beautiful hotel very close to many attractions. Also the service was wonderful. They treat their guests so well. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet with everything you could ever want. I would highly recommend this hotel.”

• Friendly workers serving the made to order breakfast. One lady made it a point to talk to all customers and I noticed that she was very positive.
• I was uncomfortable with drinking from their glasses and cups did not know if they were cleaned properly or just wiped with customers towels.

• Was convenient to where I was wanting to be for the evening.
• The person checking me was not accommodating to a bedding specific request and I don't believe the hotel was full.

“Good hotel in great location to lots of entertainment and shopping. The lady checking us in would not accommodate us with 2 double beds but the hotel did not see full at all. She referred us to book on another website next time so we can pick our bedding at booking time and not check in time. I had called ahead to request 2 double beds as well. That was the only negative of our stay!”

• We always liked the two room suites.
• The staff was "hood", smoking in public areas and scolded my children for having feet on the chairs.

“The hotel is beginning to show its age. The pool area was so foggy you couldn't see across the room, and there were pool parts on the bottom of the pool, and it was not clean. The parking was hard to find and there were people fighting for covered spaces. Overall the staff was nice but when my wife took two tea bags to bring back and microwave at the room, the breakfast attendant said real loud "why don't you just bring your car in here and hook a chain up to it and take it all". Embarrassing. My children were also the focus of this employee. We have stayed at embassy suites for years; in fact, we make it a special family vacation. I think in the future we will look for another hotel suite arrangement.”

• This hotel exceeded my expectorations especially for the price I paid.
• This hotel possibly needs better parking for their customers.

“I couldn't believe when we checked in on Friday. Evening that they had a cocktail party for all their guests. We received 8 free drinks and the next morning we had a hot made to order full breakfast! What a surprise! Hotel decorated well and very clean.”

• Misc. Minor maintenance issues observed in the room (ex. Loose screws).

“I had a good stay at this hotel. The service and wait staff were excellent. Amenities like the free shuttle and made-to-order breakfast were a bonus. I would certainly stay in another embassy suites hotel if provided the opportunity.”

• Newly refurbished, clean, spacious, comfortable suites.
• Dark garage and the surrounding area not the best.

“I love Embassy Suites. The rooms were very nice and spacious, recently decorated, free Internet and the hotel is beautiful. The hot breakfast buffet with omelets cooked to order and complimentary happy hour in the evening are very nice features.”

• The bathroom was so tiny that the sink/vanity was in the bedroom.

“Overall, it was great. The only problem I had was that the bathroom was so small and the toilet ran. If all the bathrooms are like this in this hotel I would not stay there again.”

• It is being remodeled and they did a great job so far.
• Have to go to garage to unload luggage.

“Huge remodel on this hotel and they are only half done. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable (they could have used better mattresses) and well appointed. Free parking in underground parking lot. Great breakfast with fresh foods and Omelet bar. Great location to most everything, walked to Sushi bar a couple blocks away on Westport. Happy hour at bar every night with free drink coupons, bartender is fabulous and very funny, they also had excellent chips and salsa. Once they complete the renovation this will be even better. I will stay here again, probably every time I go back to Kansas City, loved it.”
