• Room size and comfort, well decorated.

“The hotel is very convenient and nice. The room was very nice also but the shower had cleaner poured on the marble in the shower that discolored the marble and it was left that way. If I would have paid full price, I would have been mad. When you pay that kind of money in an economy like today, I would have rather a Marriott.”

• The staff was very helpful and the private lounge available to me with my room was great.
• The television selections were very limited.

“The Intercontinental is a richly designed hotel. The staff are working to please you in every way they can. The rooms, the bathroom and specifically the bed are the most comfortable I have ever enjoyed at a hotel.”

“The Intercontinental Hotel on the Plaza was a perfect location for a short getaway weekend to Kansas City. We love the Plaza area for shopping and restaurants. We ate at the Capital Grille and were treated wonderfully at both, making our whole 40th anniversary a lovely memory!”

• Good location, nice rooms.
• Although rooms newly decorated, plumbing is a problem.

“When my son and I checked in initially at 10:30pm, there was live entertainment in the hotel lobby which was very loud and many adults wandering around with drinks in hand, etc. This is fine if noise level is not intrusive into customers' rooms. We were given room, which was not only the size of a matchbook, but was obviously right over the entertainment in the lobby. Sleeping would have been out of the question. I angrily went back to the desk and asked them how dare they rent out such a room to anyone, especially when they saw my son was with me and sleep was important for a sports event he had the next day. Even though they told me they had no rooms, I was not budging and somehow they found another room. One should expect to be able to sleep when one checks into a hotel, no matter what the fee is. The room we were in had highly variable water supply in the shower, from not getting warm enough, to being burned. New decor, old pipes. I called to ask someone to come look at it when we would be out the next day, but no one ever came. Maid never came to straighten room until 5 pm at which time we were back at room and showering to go out to eat. I have not seen my final bill yet, so I am not sure what they charged me for this room.”

• Convenience to the Plaza and I loved the interior of the main level.
• Valet parking was $17/night.

• The beds were best-very comfortable; the room had all the conveniences we wanted and the location was excellent.
• Took a long time for the water to turn hot for the shower.

• It was pretty.
• It was a complete nickel and dimming establishment. Staff unhelpful.

“They also made us feel like we were charged for every minor thing, and at a nice hotel, some amenities should be part of the price you pay, but in this regard, the Intercontinental was more like the Budget Hotel or Holiday Inn.”

• We enjoyed the entertainment in the restaurant and the courtesy of the staff. Great view of the Plaza.
• The water in the room took a little too long to get hot for the shower.

“The plush lobby makes a great first impression, but that charm doesn't carry over to the other areas of the hotel. Stay here for the convenient location, but don't expect exceptional service from the staff.”

• The location was wonderful, right across the street from the World Famous Country Club Plaza.
• The Beds were somewhat hard.

“This hotel was a great place for a romantic weekend. Right across the street from the Famous Country Club Plaza. Room was a good size, with a nice reading chair and a great King Sized Bed. The bed was a little too hard and the pillows were a little too soft, but other than that it was a wonderful stay!!!”

• The guest rooms need updated/remodeled.

“The Intercontinental is a wonderful hotel and conveniently located on The Plaza, close to shopping, dining, entertainment. The staff at the hotel was very helpful. However, our room had not been updated. Also, the hotel was very full that weekend and our room was not cleaned properly, nor were there any towels left.”

• The possum begging food on the terrace.
• Front desk and telephone people didn't speak English well.

“I was very disappointed in the quality of the initial room. It was not well prepared (I have animal allergies and it had been used by an animal). The hotel did give me a different room immediately when I complained. It also was small, used hard, and located on the back side of the hotel.”

• Location was terrific. So was the view. We were right across the creek from the plaza. The beds were excellent.
• Some of the furniture looked a little worn, and it looked like some things could be updated.

“We loved the location of this hotel--also the view. It was terrific. The beds were great. While it seemed to be an older property, it was nice nonetheless. In our opinion, it was a good buy. We would stay there again.”

• Clanging plumbing pipes in the walls.

“Beautiful hotel in excellent location. They were working on the plumbing (I called front desk to ask about tapping noise in wall) so heard plumbing knocking noises off and on through the night - affected my sleep. However, I think this was an exception and I would definitely stay here again.”

• I really enjoyed the concierge lounge and the view from the lounge.
• Parking cost.

• We were catered to as soon as we pulled into the driveway and throughout the entire stay. The pillow top beds and down comforters were wonderful!
• The fresh fruit at breakfast was not rinsed off. (strawberries, grapes, etc.) A little dirty, gritty.

“Excellent, beautiful place. We were only there for 9 hours to sleep, but wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Valet parking and luggage to the room was a great help to a couple of very tired travelers.”

• they charged me $15.44, which I have no idea why. Our bed was squeaky.

• The room looked very nice, beautiful lobby.
• Pool closing time-6pm.

“The bar/lounge had a very good group of musicians playing for us to enjoy. The room looked fairly clean and the bed was comfortable. Our disappointments included the pool closing at 6pm (reopening at 9am the next morning), a rude staff member, and a creaky/squeaky bed.”

“The hotel was a great location for Country Club Plaza, rooms were clean and nicer than expected. The room has a balcony which was a nice feature. The rooms were not overly large, but we were fine with that aspect. The valet parking personnel and all other service personnel were extremely courteous. The dining room had wonderful food and excellent service. Definitely will be an option another time.”
