• Staff was friendly.
• Dirty, stunk, hallways were stained and nasty.

“Dirty and stinky, will not go back. It was so load, rap music till 2 A.M. with the thumping from a DJ, then house keeping was pounding on the door at 8 A.M. Sucked, will never stay there again.”

• Decor was very nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
• Phone would not work for local calls. Staff gave me a ticket for a free drink but did not tell me where the ticket could be used.

“Hotel is located next to a major highway but construction in the area make it difficult to get to. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Hotel evidently has a bar and restaurant but the check in desk did not provide information about either of these. Instructions were given about the closest door to enter the building. Rooms very nice and appointed appropriately. Bathrooms have sink in the bathroom instead of outside, therefore only one person can get ready at a time. ”

• Location to highway and access to city.

“Peeling paint and wallpaper in bath, shower and hotel room, even though hotel was renovated in the last 5 years, it appears our room missed the update. Paper thin walls, there was a group of hockey players staying on our floor and we heard them all night long. Restaurant, the service was so bad, after 40 minutes we still had not been served the drinks we ordered. We left, complained to the hotel manager and went elsewhere. The next morning, we attempted to do breakfast at the hotel restaurant as we believe in 2nd chances. We were the only people in the entire restaurant and 20 minutes after we'd placed our order, again, no drinks and no breakfast, we left and checked out of the hotel. This was a terrible experience.”

• Staff really enjoy themselves and make it a welcoming visit.
• Old fashioned, little dark and gloomy.

“Good for business, convenient location with excellent staff who make you feel welcome. Special meal and drink deals mid week make up for the lower quality food and old fashioned decor. If you need a convenient place to stay whilst in West KC, this is as good as any.”

• Great view from 6th floor window and USA Today on my doorstep!
• Got a restaurant charge on my bill; never went but took it off with no problem.

“Battery cover on remote was missing; it was kept on by black tape-very sticky. Clock and lamp weren't plugged in; had to move bed to plug both in. Received restaurant charge on bill; wasn't my name on the ticket, but they took it off my bill with no problem. Overall it's a very good hotel.”

• Proximity to I-35/My route to take in the morning.
• Insufficient parking, My new car was sideswiped in the lot by a car parked illegally due to not enough parking.

“My room reeked of cig. smoke. Just off the elevator, it smelled bad as well. The air conditioner was cold, but it was very humid in my room. The airlines had lost my luggage, so while I was waiting till morning for them to deliver it to me I asked the hotel for a toothbrush & toothpaste and they said they were out-even though they had a sign in the room stating they had "any necessary items you might have forgotten." However, the lobby was very attractive which I think is misleading to new arriving guests.”

• staff was very friendly
• no advertised coffe in room, tv did not work, overall cleanliness was not to my expectations

“The hotel was almost unaccessable because of road maintenance. The staff was friendly and was willing to accomodate you, however we found the room to be minimally acceptable but not up to our standards for the rating of this hotel.”

• Maintenance tried to help us with room upgrade.
• Musty rooms, clogged bathtub, moved 2 times, desk staff unmotivated

“Close to freeway, 2 rooms we tried we moldy smelling, one room had clogged bathtub requiring us to move to another room. No upgrades availalbe. Front desk didn't contact us to try and make us happy. We asked for movie credit and it was given. Desk staff appeared unmotivated to provide happy enthusiastic service. ”

• The young lady at the check-in reservation desk was very helpful and friendly
• Difficult to find because of street improvements, but there were no helpful signs to locate through the construction. The hotel was dirty,

“Upon check-in My wife was using the hotel hair dryer, we heard a loud pop, a blue spark flew out from the hair dryer, my wife was slightly shocked and the power went out. After no less than 15 rings to the front desk it was finally answered and the incident was reported to the desk. She was shocked as were we and my wife was very shook up. We were told maintance would be right up and that some one would be up with a hair dryer. We waited over 30 minutes and had to leave to make it on time to the chiefs game. Upon return to the room their was a small note that said "sorry I missed you, power is now on. Lisa." (added a smiley face) Give me a break, boy has Holiday Inn gone down the drain. No one even asked if my wife was okay and there was not an apology. VERY Unhappy with the visit.”

• Kids ate free. Kid friendly pool area. Internet access.
• All the people running around for seminars, etc.

“Great hotel. Construction on I-35 put a detour on our route there. We all enjoyed our stay. One minor problem, they gave us keys to a room on the fourth floor that was under construction. Upon a quick call from me at the phone by the ice machine: the front desk help immediately appologized and was going to send someone up with new keys to a new room, but I assured her it was o.k., and I would just take the elevator down and pick them up. Got the new keys and all was fine and dandy.”

• The night auditor was kind, helpful and friendly as we were checking in, he was great!
• While checking out the morning desk worker seemed bothered by us. As if we were taking up precious time and we didn't matter

• Hotel is a little dated.

“For $35.00, we got a great room. Staff was very helpful with accommodating our two children, and even reminded us that they eat for free in the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor pool was great, close to everything great in Kansas. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.”

• I think they have a water leak or something. The floors seemed damp, and smelled dewey.

• Nice lobby, clean but older rooms.
• Poor quality pool, not heated.

“Acceptable for two star quality level. The hotel is older and shows its age, but it was clean and everything worked. The pool was not heated and is quite poor. Nice lobby and restaurant. It is in Overland Park, but far from the Overland Park Convention Center. There is another Holiday Inn and many other hotels closer to the Convention Center. In Summer 2005, there was a lot of construction on 87th Street which limited access to the hotel.”

• The room was clean, they honored my request for non-smoking, high floor, when there was a repair need it was serviced promtly. Staff was helpful.
• The contraction at the entry made it very difficult to even find the entrance.

“This is a eight-story hotel overlooking I-35. I was on the sixth story away from any strong highway noise; the hotel is not new but my room was remodeled in recent years. The room was clean, spacious, nicely decorated and included a large desk. The pool is indoor in the winter and outdoor in summer when a cover is lifted.”

• It was clean and safe for my family to come in late night.
• There was limited parking near the entrance.

“The hotel was a nice. The rooms were clean and the experience was very similar to other hotels in the **+ rating in which I have stayed. Due to a nightclub in the hotel, parking became an issue when returning late in the evening and forced my family to park a great distance away from the entrance. Additionally, due to road construction on the main entrance, this hotel was not convenient due to the highway exit being closed.”

• We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary. The hotel couldn't have been any nicer.
• We loved everything! The pool was too chilly to swim in the morning, but the hot tub felt great.

• The staff was nice and even though there were several groups staying at the place there was no noise

“We have stayed here before and the staff was very pleasent both times. There were 2 bus loads of people unloading when we got there and going through the lobby we anticipated a sleepless night. We were pleasently wrong. No noise was heard from our room at all. The biggest problem that we encountered wasn't the hotel's fault. There is major highway construction at the exit and you can not exit off the highway at the hotel. You have to follow a series of detours to get there. Luckily we had been there before and knew kind of where we were going.”

“I reluctently tried 2.5 stars after not being able to find anything for 3 stars in my price range but I read the hotels listed as "examples" for 2.5 stars and decided they would ALL be just fine. I'm sorry Holiday Inn is not in that category. Then I figured out I had booked the wrong date (my error completely) so I called the hotel to try and and change it the correct date even if I had to pay a premium but was told there was nothing that could be done.”

• Very friendly and helpful staff; access to a computer in the lobby to check e-mail
• Difficulty in getting to the hotel due to all the major road construction on the nearby interstate highways

“After reading some negative reviews about this property, I was apprehensive about it, but all fears were laid to rest when we arrived and checked in. The staff was so helpful, including a hotel repairman we met on the elevator -- he made a point of asking how our stay was going. The room was clean, large, and well worth the price.”

• The pool area was top of the line
• We got two rooms, both of which were filthy.

“This hotal makes a super 8 look like a Marriott. The first room we got one of the beds were broken, there were spots on the sheets, and we found perscription drugs on the floor. The second room looked like it hadn't been dusted or vacumed in a month. Out of the five pices of equipment in the exercise room only one Treadmill and the weight bench worked.The only good thing about the place was there pool area. Great pool, and hot tub. There Sauna worked, but took a half an hour to heat up. They should probably just keep it on.”

• The road construction made it very hard to get to the hotel.

“I stayed there about a year ago and was very disappointed. One of only two elevators was out of service and it seems there were other signs of disrepair. This stay everything was just fine except the shower needed a deep cleaning - mold on the shower curtain.”

• The staff was friendly.
• The hotel hallways were filthy, it was loud, and the rooms were dirty.

“This hotel fell way below my expectations for a holiday inn and for the price. The first room I was placed in smelled horrible so I was moved. Then room service was very poor.As I went to the ice machine, I passed a large pile of dog (I hope) excrement in the middle of the hallway. It was very bad experience!!!”

• The convenience right at the highway.
• It didn't offer a continental breakfast of any sort and not that many channels on the TV.

“The hotel was clean and the people were nice. It is in a good location by being right off of the highway, although they have construction right at the entrance of the hotel where they are working on the exit ramp and it is a little inconvenient to where it could possibly cause an accident.”
