“I loved it.” Oct 20, 2009 by
Toby from Houston,TX
“A great hotel definitely a throw back to the classic 20's and 30's era.” Oct 15, 2009 by
Lisa from Houston,TX
“The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Lobby was pleasant atmosphere and piano playing in afternoon and evening. We were able to swim in the heated pool and jacuzzi on a cool fall day. The kids thought that was pretty cool. Room was spacious for a standard room. We would stay here again.” Aug 26, 2009 by
Mickey from Seguin,TX
“It was just the best. the staff was very nice, everyone was helpful and cordial. Aug 24, 2009 by

“Beautiful historical resort.” Aug 22, 2009 by
Patricia from Cedar Park,TX
“We did enjoy our stay because we spent our honeymoon there 50 years ago. This stay was a gift from our children for our anniversary. As a Senior person, the lighting was not good at all for reading purposes.” Aug 19, 2009 by
Bea from Falgout
“I loved this hotel and I am not really easy to please. It was beautiful, across from beach, beautiful view and a pretty room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will go back, no questions asked.” Aug 18, 2009 by
Shar-nel from Waller,TX
“I would not recommend this hotel it was very small room. No ramp access from back parking lot. We had two infants in a stroller and it was hard to go in the back entrance. There was hair in our bed and in the sheets that the staff brought us. The floors were dirty and stained. It was very loud. You could hear all the doors shut, water being turned on, toilets flush, hallway noise.” Aug 13, 2009 by
Andrea from Irving,TX
“This hotel has it all, elegant, reasonably priced, haunted reputation for those who love a thrill, photo all over, and a pristine beach right across the street. The beautiful lagoon style pool has a swim up bar.” Aug 12, 2009 by
Eddie from Kansas City,MO
“This hotel was located right across from a beach stairwell. The location was great for what we wanted it for. We could go across the street for a while and swim then walk right back for a relaxing swim in the pool.” Aug 12, 2009 by
Cora from Independence,KS
“This hotel is grand! Beautiful location, friendly staff, amazing pool and views, and you can't get lost -- this hotel is called the Queen of the Gulf for a reason. No matter where you are, you can see her and find your way back. This hotel also has several gated parking lots --wonderful!” Aug 11, 2009 by
Carol from Denham Springs,LA
“I felt it was very beautiful. They did not offer a free continental breakfast. Did like coffee and ice box in room.” Aug 9, 2009 by
Jennifer from Lewisville,TX
“We were very impressed with this hotel. Not only is the location unbeatable - directly across from the beach on Galveston's Seawall - the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are well-maintained, the pool is beautiful (both daytime and nighttime), the lobby is amazing, the decor is great (we especially liked the bathrooms). We did not try the restaurant, but everything that we did see and experience exceeded our expectations. Other reviews commented that the rooms were small; I would agree somewhat. They aren't as big as some newer hotels, but this is a historic property and we thought the ocean view more than made up for it. We did not at all feel cramped or claustrophobic, with three in the room. Parking is free, gated, and some of the parking is covered (garage). The staff was friendly - the front doors were opened for us with a smile most of the times we walked through. All in all, I would highly recommend this property!” Jul 13, 2009 by
Jane from Palmer,TX
“Our experience was excellent. We did not eat within the hotel. Thought it was a little pricey. Very clean, enjoyed the stay. We were placed on the non ocean side, and there were not that many people booked. The view would have been nicer, than the back slum area.” Jul 8, 2009 by
Rich from Champaign,IL
“Great for the price. Steps from the ocean lobby and restaurant were beautiful.” Jun 21, 2009 by
John from Baytown,TX
“Overall ambiance of the older traditional hotel atmosphere was thrilling, and made you feel a part of history as well as the comfort of the rooms, staff, and food except for the initial lack of attention getting in and up to our room!” Jun 19, 2009 by
Alex from San Antonio,TX
“Hotel and staff were awsome. We really enjoyed our stay. We still can't believe that we were able to afford a 5 star hotel for the price.” Jun 8, 2009 by
jamie from San Antonio,TX
“The valet greeted us and was very nice. The ladies at the desk were very nice and friendly. They allowed me to go look at the two types of rooms I was interested in and choose one. This is a historic hotel, so rooms are smaller than the new hotels. I wanted to see which would best fit my family (two small children). The room and bathroom were quite nice. There was enough room for the kids and all our stuff. The restaurant was nice. We ate the breakfast buffet there. The omelet station was good and they had whole milk available for the kids (not easy to find when dining out). I was worried such a nice hotel might not be very family friendly, but they were and there a number of families with young children that we saw. The pool area looked inviting, but we opted to walk across the street to the beach. It is a short walk and great for only going over for an hour or so at a time with the kids. The hotel had gated parking and it didn't cost extra.” May 29, 2009 by
Valerie from Texas,TX
“Hotel has charm and feel of elegance. Centrally located to things May 22, 2009 by
Leiha from Yukon,OK
“This hotel was very nice, friendly and clean. It is in a prime location off of the beach, near several really good restaurants. The swimming area was very nice and it had gated parking.” May 20, 2009 by
Angela from Baton Rouge,LA
“Our overall experience was wonderful. We were a little early and had a drink at the bar that particular barmaid was not very friendly, but the rest of the staff at the hotel we encounter was. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful with lots of history. The pool area is beautiful at night. I wish they would have had a mini fridge and microwave so we could have taken home leftovers from dinner that would be the only addition to the room I would make. We used the valet parking, but you can park your car yourself. We just didn't want to walk to park our car ourself as it is a little bit of a hike to and from the parking garage. The valet's were all very nice and handled our automobile with care. The concierge there, was also a very wonderful staff employee and super friendly and helpful.” May 3, 2009 by
Michael from Dallas,TX
“The hotel was very nice. The room was very good for the type of hotel. It was not a large room. However, it had everything that we needed. The only downside was the shuttle service. We were staying there before a cruised and took their shuttle service to the terminal. When we returned, we called the shuttle and they said they were coming. 30 minutes later we called to see where it was. They told us that they were busy with a wedding and we should take a cab at our own expense. The stay at the room met our expectations. They only downside was the shuttle service.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Ron from Seabrook,TX
“Overall, better than expected as far as service, cleanliness, etc. I had hoped the business center had printers, but it did not and only one computer worked. Was surprised this hotel had rooms facing away from the water, but I guess that is due to being an old hotel. Our view was less than desirable.” Apr 15, 2009 by
Jason from Spurger,TX
“I would recommend this hotel to those who may want to spend a romantic or quiet weekend away.” Apr 15, 2009 by
Rodney from Nederland,TX
“The service and the room were beyond my expectations. The view of the grounds and the gulf were beautiful. Old world elegance at it's best.” Apr 11, 2009 by
Michael from Sachse,TX
“The location was awesome though the rooms are very small.” Feb 10, 2009 by

“This is a beautiful historic hotel, right on the beach in Galveston. The public spaces in the hotel are well-appointed, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has an attractive pool area. A covered parking area is available.” Nov 29, 2008 by
Steven from Belle Chasse,LA
“Rooms are small but very well appointed. Structure is magnificent, staff was very friendly and food was excellent. All this during recovery from last huricane season.” Sep 12, 2008 by

“Great place to unwind. New spa features that I would love to check out on my next stay, perfect timing, just in between hurricanes.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Houston, TX
“Hotel was great.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Kevin from Houston, TX
“Common areas including lobby and pool nice and clean. Rooms in need of updating. Friendly service.” Sep 3, 2008 by
James J. from Brenham, TX
“The hotel is elegant and rich in history. From the moment you give your keys to the bell hop and walk through the doors you feel like you are in luxury. The beautiful furniture, the piano player as you come in to the main lobby it was relaxing from check in to check out. I was afforded every luxury that a wealthy traveler would have and then some. You will really love the elegance of the hotel and large comfortable room you get. The beds were so comfortable, I could still be sleeping. I loved the price and could not have dreamed I would have been staying there.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 1, 2008 by

“I really enjoyed our stay a the hotel and would recommend it to other people.” Sep 1, 2008 by
Donna from Austin, TX
“The hotel was excellent, and overall met our expectations. It was bad to hear every little sound out in the hallway; makes us question how much of us could be heard in the hall. Additionally, I still don't see why 4-star hotels make you pay for the internet - when you can get free Wi-Fi even at McDonalds! However, the location was superb. The treatment by the staff was absolutely wonderful - we had an excellent time at the swim-up bar. The bartender was just the right amount of friendly. We had a great time at the Galvez, and hope to go back.” Aug 31, 2008 by
Beth from Bryan, TX
“Hotel Galvez gave a first great impression and followed through to the end. The valet/concierge was friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby was beautiful and very open. The front desk staff was very professional and nice. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The room was a bit small but nice. The pool was nice. Mostly shallow which I liked with a 2 year old. The swim up bar made me definitely want to return without my child, and with my husband. Would be a nice romantic place to come for anniversary.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 25, 2008 by

“The hotel overall was very nice. The hotel was clean and a great value. Great pool and bar staff of Ukrainian student workers. The hallways by many of the rooms smelled very strong of body odor. We stayed there for 2 nights and the smell was always the same as we past certain places in the hall.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 22, 2008 by

“The Galvez is a wonderful, historic hotel. The pool area is wonderfully designed and includes a swim-up bar. Very relaxing place to stay.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Becky from Caddo Mills, TX
“Awesome hotel for the price. Highly recommend.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Kristen from Warren, TX
“The hotel itself was very nice: clean, located across from nice beach, within walking distance of some nice restaurants, nice staff, etc. Our room was TINY. We ended up with a single queen room with a rollaway bed for my 5-year-old, which wouldn't be all bad if the room hadn't been TINY even for a single queen. The room I had three weeks earlier at Holiday Inn Resort probably cost about the same or less (I was at an educational seminar) for twice as much space AND the beds were MUCH more comfortable.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 19, 2008 by

“From the moment you arrive at this hotel, there is no doubt you are in a special place. The ambience was incredible, architecture timeless, and the staff friendly and helpful.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Helen from Austin, TX
“This hotel was very beautiful and right across the street from the beach. They have valet service and self parking. The room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The gift shop is very nice and the employees are very helpful and friendly. The front desk staff was professional but not as friendly as the gift shop and restaurant staff. The breakfast buffet was delicious as was the room service breakfast.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Mieke from Baytown, TX
“I will stay there again.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Amy from Austin, TX
“We were surprised. Great stay and would most definitely stay again!” Aug 14, 2008 by
Clarence from Conroe, TX
“Coffee provided was bad/glass in room was cracked and broke, hope they do not charge me for that!” Aug 11, 2008 by
Chris from Denton, TX
“This is a nice, family friendly place in Galveston. Everything in a Beach Town is overpriced.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Kim from Magnolia, TX
“We loved our hotel, it was clean, and the staff was very friendly. A Tropical Storm came into the Gulf, towards Galveston, and the hotel gave us a voucher for our next night so we could leave. Room with two double beds is just right for a family of four. Nice parking in a parking garage right next door for free. We had to bring a cooler with us, since there is not a fridge in the room, but that was not too bad. All in all we would stay here again!” Aug 7, 2008 by
Steve from Huntsville, TX
“I liked my experience. The concierge was rude, but it seems to be expected in Galveston. I was shocked when a complimentary breakfast was not provided. I would have been happy with a bagel or an apple, something. The hotel is very beautiful and the pool area makes up for a lot. Especially the bar.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Harriet from Houston, TX
“This hotel is excellent, I've stayed here before and absolutely loved it.”
