• Harbor view.
• Elevator hadn't worked for 7 months, since hurricane like in sept 2008

“Stars should have been updated to reflect condition of hotel. Not their fault but rates should have been adjusted accordingly.”

• Location and rooms.

“This hotel is recovering from Hurricane Ike. They are really trying accommodate guests and their needs. No elevator yet, but this wasn't a big problem for us. We will definitely stay there again. Nice continental breakfast buffet presented by gracious staff. There was always frest fruit in the main hallway on our floor.”

• Harbor House has palatial rooms, great location, and lots of character.
• At my travel time, the hotel was under a remodel or reconstruction.

“Harbor House is a charming find! Located on the edge of the historic downtown Strand district, you are removed from the bustle of the beach-going tourists, but are only moments away from the beach yourself. This may be Galveston's best kept secret!”

• Nautical atmosphere.
• Under construction.

“Loved the location on the shipping channel, watching the ships come in and out, and watching the aquatic life with the kids from the hotel window. Hotel is adjacent to several nautical tours/attractions and several great restaurants. All rooms have a scenic view (if you like marina life). Staff was very accommodating to our needs. Public spaces were in the middle of a renovation project. We would enjoy going back to see the results.”

• It was very pleasant, away from the hustle of the Seawall. Loved the location.
• No restaurant or bar or amenities.

“Harbor House was a pleasant location away from the crowded area of the Galveston Seawall. The harbor was simple beautiful. Upgrades were being made that would have enhanced the experience more, but weren't finished. Rooms were pleasant with a great view of the harbor. Would definitely stay again.”

• Rooms were roomy and nicer than I expected.
• No pool and lobby area is too small for a lot of people.

“Great location on the waterfront within walking distance of the cruise ship terminal and the Strand District in Galveston. Joe's Crab Shack and the Wharf are good dining options nearby. Also, there are museums nearby that are good.”

• Very clean, upscale, nice view from window.
• Patio area under construction-nowhere to sit to watch the harbor.

“Our room was large and decorated well. The air-conditioning worked very well. The room was clean and neat. The patio area was under construction so there was nowhere to sit and watch the harbor. When it is completed it would be a great place to relax in the evening. There was a grassy area with benches but had a ship parked in front of it -so the view was limited.”

• Rooms were recently renovated.
• View of the bay.

“This is a good hotel for the price if your not interested in spending much time there. Rooms are clean and spacious. Lacks hotel amenities like a pool or easy luggage transportation. Not located on the best side of town. But still good for the price.”

“I feel that the hotel is a great place to stay. I stayed there in 1999 and the hotel is still as clean and nice as it was at that time. I would recommend you and the hotel to anyone.”

• Still being renovated, but I will probably be really nice once finished.

• Construction on going with little hotel staff to help with problems.

“I was unable to get any towels because all the house keeping staff goes home when rooms are clean. The only staff was a very pregnant women at the desk who seem to be the only person working at the hotel.”

• Unique atmosphere and design, history, waterfront, cleanliness, comfort.

“We really enjoyed this hotel. It was an old ship terminal converted into a 42 room inn. The architecture with exposed pipes kept with the history of the building--as did the boat and water themed art and color scheme. Wood floor. Very nice, very clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. I have already recommended it to someone. We loved it and will likely return.”

• I liked the room it was nice but a little small.
• I didn't like the fact that there were renovations going on they could have let us know before hand.

“The room was nice. The staff was friendly. The short time we were there was boring. I guess I would have to say over all it wasn't a very pleasant experience for myself. I think next time I will stay somewhere else.”

• The room was very spacious with a sitting area and a desk. Also love the fridge and microwave!
• Under construction, so breakfast area was moved with no tables.

“We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel and rooms have a lot of character with the high wood plank ceilings. The room was large with 2 queen beds. The fridge and microwave were great to have. Also love that the entire hotel is non-smoking!”

• Located in the Beautiful Galveston Bay. Family Friendly attractions. Lots to do for family and friends.
• It was under construction and renovations.

“We loved all the amenities within the room. It made for a wonderful stay. The Nautical atmosphere of the decor added to the whole experience. With only 39 rooms to offer, there was not a whole lot of traffic. We appreciated this. We did not like having to pay for parking everyday because the hotel leases the parking lot. Plenty of restaurants in the area within walking distance. The strand was right within walking distance. Overall, the stay was fantastic.”

• A great place to stay, great location walking distance to downtown and restaurants.
• Under construction, no restaurant, minute lobby need nicer rooms and furniture better beds.

“The Harbor House will be a great place to stay and we will stay there again, I know it will be real nice when renovation is completed. I would recommend for families and seniors, very romantic when they have a pool and balconies, we had a great view of the bay and ships, close to the strand and restaurants.”

• Location was the best in Galveston.
• 1st floor currently under construction.

“The hotel was the best in Galveston for the price and the location excellent. In my opinion, staying in the Strand area is far better than the Seawall side of the island, which was very commercial. (Reminded me of Atlantic City) Walking to restaurants and shops was very pleasurable and easy. The room had fridge and microwave. My only critique was that the bathroom could be updated. It was not bad at all, but a little granite for the counter top would make it perfect. I also got a 15% discount at the Hotel Galvez Spa by staying at Harbor House. It was wonderful.”

• It was right on the harbor next to a museum and nice restaurant.
• They did not supply fresh linens and towels everyday.

“I loved the hotel. They are doing some remodeling but were very nice about everything. They had beautiful palm trees in the front but were digging them up when we were there. I didn't like the fact I had to ask for clean towels in my room. But other than that is was good.”

“Rooms and location was great, but the construction was a inconvenience and there was no restaurant. Also you shouldn't have to pay to park. Desk clerk gave wrong information about trolley. No pool either. It was still a nice hotel and overall a pleasant stay.”

“Overall the hotel was great. The only down fall was not notified that the hotel was under construction so sleeping in was not an option. Also water was turned off for a couple of hours.”

• Located next to several restaurants and downtown strand district.
• There is no pool and location is not on the sea wall.

“The hotel is a nice hotel overall. It is located near the cruise terminal, several restaurants and the downtown strand district. It doesn't have a pool and is not on the seawall so families would be disappointed although the hotel Galvez pool and seawall are not to far away. If you want a small nice hotel away from the beach but near downtown I recommend it.”

• Close to lots of great restaurants.
• Hard to find, part of that was my fault for thinking it was in a different part of town.

“Nice hotel, some construction was going on at the time. We were there for two night awaiting our cruise. Very convenient to good restaurants, parking available for the week of the cruise for only 20.00. Could walk to board our ship even with some luggage. One night very noisy in the next room. Should have called the desk. Breakfast bar was pretty skimpy.”

• The harbor atmosphere.
• The pillows were too small.

“Overall it met our needs, and really enjoyed the star bucks coffee and the delicious continental breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed watching the boats on the harbor as well. The room also came with a couch a chair, coffee table and another table with two chairs as well. So it was very roomy. But, they are doing construction and if you are looking to sleep in you will have to put up with a lot of banging come 8:30 in the morning.”

• A different interior feel than a typical hotel, large rooms, great location on the water front.
• The continental breakfast was kind of limited, hotel staff not to familiar with the area.

• Fresh fruit for guests in foyer all day long and great location.

“Great location! Free breakfast with classy breakfast selections: Starbucks coffee, huge selections of teas, croissants, muffins, fresh fruit, oatmeal, banana nut bread, fruit cocktails, juices, milk, bagels, etc. many restaurants within walking distance, harbor view from every room, safe and well-lit private parking area for $10/night, excellent value for the money. I have never had a hotel room with a high ceiling and a ceiling fan. Very nice and cozy!”

• The room was very big and spacious and we had a room with a view.
• Rooms were too dark, not on the beach, dirty pillow case. Old toilet seat. No pool.

“The hotel was nice but not a 2.5 star hotel. There was not a pool and our toilet seat was chipping away. Our pillow case was dirty and when we asked for our sheets to be changed and they weren't. Still had the dirty spot on pillow case. The room was great otherwise and we had a room looking at the channel (we wanted beach but this one was 10 minutes away).”

• It was very clean, well-kept, and had a restaurant and pool onsite.
• The rooms did not have sound-proof walls and we could hear noise in hall.

“It is a very beautiful hotel with a wonderful location and though the restaurant was a little expensive, the food was delicious. But the swim-up bar I was looking forward to was closed on Saturday.”
