Carmen from London,KY
“The Tremont was a lovely hotel. The rooms were a nice size and the beds and bedding were absolutely wonderful, almost like sleeping in your own bed. The staff were helpful, kind and pleasant, willing to make your stay the best you have ever had and make you want to come again.” Oct 22, 2009 by
Robin from London,KY
“Overall my stay was excellent, I have no complaints, will stay again.” Oct 12, 2009 by
Cindylou from Lufkin,TX
“Next time we can hopefully stay longer. Strand is coming along nicely. I saw it in January 09 when there was only 1 store open and vowed to continue to come to Galveston on vacation. I feel a sense of loyalty to the island. Loved the Tremont, but when we bring the kids (teens) we'll stay somewhere with the pool - Galvez being my first choice.” Oct 5, 2009 by
Lee from Plainview,TX
“Very clean and quaint. Beautiful rooms, spacious bathrooms, remodeled lobby, loved the heated towel rack. Definitely a 4 star hotel.” Oct 5, 2009 by
Darren from Navasota,TX
“Excellent staff.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Ann from Houston,TX
“The hotel did not meet expectations. The restaurant had mostly heat and eat food. There was no room service. You had to go outside and step off the curb to smoke. There was no refrigerator in the room and the crying baby across the hall, may as well have been in our room. We had to take our own luggage up to our room. Bottle water was $3, call drinks were $7.50 and 2 pastries were $12.” Sep 1, 2009 by
Betty from Lago Vista,TX
“The hotel was everything we expected and then some. They gave us exactly what I had ask for. ( room Wise )They keep your car for you and take you to and from the cruise port. Can't complain about anything .The resturant I thought was a bit pricey but , we could have gone somewhere else. There are sever eating places around the hotel.I certainly would book through priceline.com again. Thanks,Betty Jones” Aug 28, 2009 by

“I do not have the words to describe how happy I was with my room. I wanted to move in permanently. It was not crowded, which I like, but which is probably not a good thing for them.” Aug 19, 2009 by
Jane from College Station,TX
“Staff was great, very helpful. Free breakfast was good. It made up for the dining room being closed for renovations. The beds were very comfortable, the housekeeping staff were very helpful to me....The room was very large, had a great view of the dry docks that the boys enjoyed watching.....” Aug 17, 2009 by
Debbie from Houston,TX
“We love the Tremont. Fun area of town, lots to do/eat around there. Lovely and comfortable and large rooms. Family friendly. Great feeling lobby and common areas. Neat rooftop "porch". Beautiful black and white decor! We love it!!” Aug 15, 2009 by
Cris from Tyler,TX
“This was our first stay at the Tremont, it was simply lovely, from our arrival to our departure. I bring my own pillow when I travel. A new maid removed my pillowcase, it took two days for them to return it, that is my only complaint. Otherwise this was a most wonderful experience.” Aug 9, 2009 by
Brian from Spearman,TX
“Beautiful historic hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Valet staff was very prompt and helpful as well. Rooms were absolutely wonderful and very spacious.” Jul 28, 2009 by

“This hotel was amazing. Beautiful inside and out. The rooms were large with wood floors, high ceilings, ceiling fans, large plasma tv's, towel warmers. Just fabulous.” Jul 11, 2009 by
Myranda from Kilgore,TX
“Great hotel. Good location in the Strand District. Friendly staff. Extremely clean hotel.” Jul 8, 2009 by
Suzanne from Cedar Park,TX
“Noting that the hotel had only been re-opened for about 4 weeks since the renovations due to Ike - Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this hotel; however, the operations felt very disorganized, beginning with the valet services and ending at the reception desk. I found it odd that no concierge was available at the hotel. I did appreciate that, because the restaurant had not yet been opened, a continental breakfast was available each morning. The rate we received was fair. I would not pay more than this, however, for any stay at this hotel.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Michael from Mckinney,TX
“Everything was great except the fact that there was no restaurant. It had been destroyed by the hurricane in September. I understood, but it was just frustrating that I didn't know ahead of time. Since we arrived late in the evening, it was an unpleasant surprise to discover that we were going to have to get out again and drive to find something to eat.” Jun 23, 2009 by
Still from Rockwall,TX
“I have stayed at the Hotel Galvez on many occasions and I always am very pleased with my accommodations, the food and the wonderful service. I hope to return to the Hotel Galvez very soon!” Jun 15, 2009 by

“Wonderful experience!” Sep 10, 2008 by

“The room was fantastic with great beds and two sofa's. The bathroom was exceptional. The breakfast from the restaurant was very good. Our favorite part was the Historic bar in the lounge. It was built in 1870.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Cristina from Sugar Land, TX
“This hotel is an 1800 and has that great feeling that it brings historic hotel. The rooms are beautiful, also has been renovated and gives it modern look, I am impress, is nice.” Sep 9, 2008 by

“The Tremont was beautiful and service was great.” Sep 8, 2008 by
Karen from Oklahoma City, OK
“We loved the hotel overall. We checked in and were disappointed that there wasn't two queens available. So, we were stuck with one queen bed for the four of us. The staff was rude about it and do not seem to care if you are frustrated. Definitely not one of those hotels where they are bending over backwards to make sure the customer is happy. We did get a roll-away for my kids. We were told if we wanted two queens, we did have to come down every morning and ask if there was one available. Didn't want to bother with packing & unpacking or with communicating with their staff again, so we just took what we got. The room was exceptional, except very cold. I think the thermometer was broken and we could only turn the air on and off, not set the temperature. Bed was super-comfy and we loved the look and feel the entire hotel had. Valet guys were awesome and there is free parking by the curb between certain hours. Hotel was very clean, looked very nice and was well kept. The rooftop patio was great too and has a view of the bayside. We were very glad once we got there that we did not book a room on the sea wall side of the island which was very noisy, had lots of traffic and lots of party-goers. This location was walking distance to all of the cute shops of downtown, and the water on the bayside was only 1 block away. We loved being near the big boats. Seemed like more of a family-friendly, low key area. I would definitely stay here again, just limit your interaction with the staff at the front desk.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Candice from Trumann, AR
“The hotel met my expectations and more. Lovely rooms/decor. Very clean. Nice comfortable linens. I would stay again in a Heartbeat!” Sep 2, 2008 by
Stacie from Huffman, TX
“Fantastic stay - wonderful to have a large room with sitting area when traveling with two young children - especially accommodating staff.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Berniece from Spring, TX
“We enjoyed our 2 night stay. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were beautiful and very functional. Good TV's and I liked the towel warmer. Everything was exceptionally clean.” Aug 27, 2008 by
Carrie from Beaumont, TX
“Hotel Tremont was beautiful and coveniently located in historic Galveston. We had an awesome experience.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Christina from Elgin, TX
“Nice, upscale, large rooms. did not like that you have to pay for valet or parking or hope you can find parking on the street.” Aug 24, 2008 by
Caron from Normangee, TX
“I have stayed at this hotel only once before and have been very pleased both times. The rooms are beautiful - my children thought they were the most wonderful places to stay - they ohh and aweded the whole time. Beautiful hardwood floors and comfortable beds - but they liked the towel warmer the best.” Aug 24, 2008 by
Jackie from Livingston, TX
“My husband and I went there for our Anniversary. I thought the room was beautiful, with high ceilings. When you got out of the shower, your towel was on a warmer. That was awesome.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Ellen from Austin, TX
“Very nice, comfortable, and within walking distance of nice shopping and eating. The room was beautiful - we really enjoyed our stay!” Aug 22, 2008 by
Ginny from Houston, TX
“The one small window in our room looked onto an interior dining area. It was not within walking distance to the beach, and there was no pool. The furnishings were sparse.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Don from Highland Village, TX
“Hotel is super. The staff is professional. The room is top quality. The Restaurant food was good and priced reasonably. The reason that I gave the restaurant a "nine" is that the coffee was only warm. A clean cut young man was the server and he was just learning the business, I believe. He was hard to find when I needed him. The cashier brought hot coffee with a big Texas smile. I will go again to the restaurant when I return to this fine Hotel for Christmas on the Strand.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Tracy from Roxton, TX
“It was a very nice place to stay but for there isnt a lot for younger children.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Nancy from Houston, TX
“This is a fabulous historic hotel near the strand. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Linda from Sugar Land, TX
“Great hotel, but the valet parking at almost $20 each night was not economical.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Dee A. from Wichita, KS
“The staff was very unfriendly and not helpful.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Tim from Norman, OK
“The rooms were ok. Not a 3 star hotel.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Jodie from Fort Worth, TX
“Very pretty hotel. However, they charged additional for every amenity. Parking, breakfast, internet, premium channels, and local calls were all additional. Also I had to call four times for an in room refrigerator to be delivered. Hotel staff members were distant with an edge of irritation when I expressed frustration that my perishables were spoiling. I was traveling with a small child and wanted to store milk. Also the hotel states that it is blocks from the beach with frequent trolley service to the beach. The trolley comes infrequently and it is miles from the beach. Further more you would expect a pool or fitness center in a nicer hotel. This hotel had neither. The pros were that it is pretty, clean, felt safe and it is in a charming area of Galveston. Shopping, cute restaurants, and small art galleries are within walking distance. Overall not the best value, but it was comfortable.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Jen from Pflugerville, TX
“The hotel was lovely upon entrance. The valet parking is ok, except you pay $12/night (no choice) it's the only parking for the hotel, and you must tip the valets every time you come & go from the hotel because of this. The bedding was old, and very outdated - bed squeaked, mattress & pillows were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was lovely. Make sure you had a big enough room- we had to move as our first room was only big enough for the queen bed and no room to walk around.” Aug 13, 2008 by
John from Houston, TX
“This is a beautiful hotel which is close (easy walking distance) to the Galveston Strand but lacks finish and polish. This was our second stay at this hotel in the last 7 months. The towel bar in the shower is an ideal height to hit your head (my wife did so on our prior trip) and this time ours was missing the actual bar. Despite knowing about it, I hit my head this time. We did not bother to say anything to the hotel as the desk clerk's response last time was, oh. The floor of the shower is slippery. I nearly fell. Because of its location, valet parking is essentially a requirement. However, both of our attempts to contact the valet/doorman station were fruitless. The first time the call rolled to the front desk. When I asked to have the car pulled around, the desk clerk informed me to simply come downstairs and ask the valet. The second attempt (the next morning), the phone simply rang and rang. Our stay was two nights. On the full day of our stay, we never had any maid service. We left the room around noon after a leisurely morning, but there was no maid service during our 4+ hours away from the room. Turn-down arrived before dinner and amounted to handing me 2 mints and the card to order breakfast. Better management and commitment to service would truly help this beautiful old hotel.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Shelly from Gilmer, TX
“This hotel was very nice, comfortable and beautiful. There were two things I did not like: 1. You could only valet park or be off the street (parking) before 8am. 2. I asked for two beds, they said they were booked and therefore I had to make my little boy a pallet on the floor.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Rohit from Pearland, TX
“The physical attributes of this hotel were fantastic. It is a very modern historic hotel. Sounds contradictory, but you will understand when you see it. Very impressive job they have done giving you all the modern day amenities, yet making you feel like you are in a very historic place. They have looked at every detail down to the room key! Again, you'll see what I mean when I say they combined ultra-modern with classic historical feel. Now the service is a totally different story. Unfortunately the staff at front desk are brutal. Not very helpful at all. No concierge service. Don't try to ask the front desk staff for directions, as they will give them to you, but they will be totally incorrect. Fortunately, we did not have to deal with them very much, so we still enjoyed our stay overall. If Wyndham wants to move this up to a 4-star or higher caliber, all they need to do is upgrade their personnel.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Tom from Little Elm, TX
“Tremont house is an excellent upscale hotel in the heart of downtown Galveston. Easy access to beaches and fishing with car. Easy access to shops, clubs, restaurants, and wharf areas by foot. Have stayed there twice, and both times superb service and stay.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Jason from Euless, TX
“This is a great hotel located on the Strand near great shops and restaurants. The hotel is very clean and ranks up there with the San Louis and Galvez but is much cheaper. If you don't mind having to drive to the beach this is hotel can not be beat.”
