• Excellent decor, friendly and helpful staff, very clean, conveniently located.
• Our key cards stopped working and we were locked out of our rooms for no known reason, We had to get new cards.

“I would definitely stay here again. We go to Galveston every summer and have paid much more for a room that did not even compare to the quality and price we received with this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised!”

• Hotel was clean and provided easy access to the beach.

“I stayed at this hotel with my 15 year old son and his friend for an overnight visit to Galveston. Our first since Hurricane Ike. It was perfect for us. It was easy to get to the beach and the hotel was clean. The only complaint from the boys was that there is not hot tub. Beach was clean.”

“The Holiday Inn Galveston On the Beach is a different hotel than the Holiday Inn Sunspree Galveston Beach. I met a group that was doing hurricane recovery community service (painting and tiling at Galveston Boys and Girls Club). The group had reservations at Holiday Inn Sunspree Galveston Beach, a very nice hotel. Because of the similarities in the name, I booked the Holiday Inn Galveston On the Beach. The hotel said that priceline would not let them cancel, and priceline refused to refund any money if I did cancel. I suppose the Holiday Inn Galveston On the Beach is an okay hotel for a pure beach vacation, but it is unkept, poorly maintained hotel with an unpleasant odor, and unhelpful (but friendly) staff.”

• The location was great.
• This was a motel not a hotel and there was only one tiny elevator all the war around in the back.

“The location was great but I expected a lot more for the $. First of all this is a motel not a hotel. The room doors open directly to the outside which I would have liked to have known before booking. Also, there is only one tiny elevator all the way in the back which, in order to get to, you have to walk past all of the cleaning services areas of the motel including huge mounds of dirty linens. We had a tiny balcony (two chairs fit on it) but there was an open gap to the next room's balcony so it lacked a sense of privacy and the AC from above dripped on you constantly. Actually, pretty much everywhere you walked something was dripping on you. The pool is in desperate need of a cleaning. Kids had scratched their names in the grime on the tiles around the pool.”

“When we arrived they sent us to a room that was occupied. It was quite a distance walking with luggage. They never apologized. The room they put us in was unclean and needed a great deal of maintenance. When we returned there was no place to park. And after driving the lot for 30 minutes I went inside and was told to park next door. There was no parking there either. We had to park on the street. The next morning the coffee pot didn't even work.”

• Next (across the road) to the Seawall (Galveston Beach), free newspaper at the lobby counter.
• Room without view (open balcony onto rooftop) blank concrete hallway to elevator, no comp. breakfast.

“Convenient location to the beach and Galveston attractions. A small refrigerator in room. Do not get the 2nd floor rooms - balcony open to the roof top of the lobby - no beach view. Tight parking slots with mostly big cars and trucks park next to each others. No complimentary breakfast.”

• They were great about early check- in due to the rainstorm, since we couldn't go to the beach yet.
• No complaints, though the hallway was a little smoky.

• They gave us a very nice view of the ocean.
• The swimming pool was overran by small kids, the bar service to the outdoor patio was bad and the elevators were very busy 'cause no service elevators.

• The location was great. The amenities were great. Everyone had excellent manners.
• I did not like the drainage outside over the walkway. It appeared slimy and a safety risk.

• The pool was awesome! They even showed a family movie outside on a big screen one night.
• We had to call the front desk to have our room cleaned, And one evening it was 6pm. The pool staff was rude and didn't speak English.

“The location of this hotel is great. The hotel rooms and lobby were nice. The pool was awesome. Our 3 1/2 year old loved it. However, our room wasn't cleaned until late in the afternoon and one night it wasn't until after 6pm. The front desk mangers were helpful and nice, but the pool staff was rude and didn't speak English at all. There was not free breakfast, but there was a fridge in the room which made up for no breakfast. Overall, we had a great stay.”

• The hotel lobby, pool and facilities were beautiful and tropical.
• The hotel mistakenly over charged my credit card.

“We were only done in Galveston for one night but our stay was excellent. The hotel was located right on the beach and our room had an excellent view. We requested 2 queen beds view non-smoking. The hotel charged over extra $ for no reason. I called the hotel the next day when I saw it on my bank account and they said that they would fix the error. They did not even say what the charges were for, but when we first arrive to check in the lady at the front desk seemed more interested in chatting and joking around with her co-workers instead of checking us in quickly. Overall great stay and most likely we will return to the same hotel for another trip. We did wish that they offered a complimentary breakfast instead of charging for one in the restaurant though.”

• Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They all appeared to genuinely enjoy their positions and on a really busy holiday weekend, this is unusual.
• The balcony overlooking the top of the building.

“I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to my family and friends. Service was prompt and all staff that we encountered was genuinely friendly. The room was very well cleaned on a daily basis and they left enough towels. Had a problem with the drain in the bathtub, but was fixed within minutes of reporting it. Excellent service with a smile.”

• Air condition. Loud, carpet needs to be shampooed badly, our socks were black from it.

• It was clean and comfortable and the people were very nice and it was in great location, we liked it fine.
• There was not a view of anything. Out the window was a brick wall.

“Ok, basically everything was great. We did not have a view out the window. It looked into a brick wall. However, the room temperature was always comfortable, the beds were clean, the bathroom was clean and the maid service was prompt. I wish it had been on the second or third floor to where we could have seen the ocean but since that wasn't the case. It all worked out fine. Really, we had no complaints. It was me and my grown daughter and it worked out great.”

• Very noisy. The band was way too loud and interrupted going to sleep at a decent time.

“This hotel was in a great location directly across from the beach. Great restaurants within walking distance. Hotel rest. was great for breakfast. They are renovating so some things still needed updating but by the looks of what they have done so far it is going to be really nice. I would stay there again.”

• The entire staff was very friendly and outwardly willing to help.
• The open air access to the rooms needed to be pressure washed and painted.

• Anyone can access the elevator. Not secure at all!

“The hotel has a good location, the staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. I did not feel secure getting on the elevator with my family because there is no secure card for the guest to access the building and use the elevator. In other words, anyone off the street can just walk up and board the elevator.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my son's pack n play to sleep in and they were nice enough to provide a crib for my son to sleep in.
• We had an unattractive view of the roof. For the money I paid, I thought there would be a continental breakfast but they did not have one.

“For the purpose of our stay, the hotel worked fine. They window view was not that pleasing but we really only needed a place to sleep and that was convenient to The Strand.”
