• Location to the beach.
• Way to dirty for a Best Western. Had the appearance of a Motel 6.

“We actually moved next door to a Quality Inn for the same price and was elated. It was 500 times nicer and cleaner. The Best Western in Galveston should be condemned and closed until it is remodeled and sanitized.”

• Location was nice.
• The hotel was terrible (dirty, needed maintenance, hot).

“The hotel was in disrepair (shower leaked, inadequate water pressure, lights on the pool broken) and our door keys kept failing, so much so that we were locked out of our room for 2 hours. The elevator worked sporadically.”

• They allowed us to change rooms three times because of an odor in the hotel and the bedding. The pool too.
• The hotel appeared old and run down especially the beds and their was a mildew odor in some of the rooms.

“I sincerely don't recommend this hotel to anyone unless the other are booked up. The beds are uncomfortable and worn down. Their is a odor in the hotel room and especially in the elevators. The only good thing about the hotel is the staff and the pool is ok. The location is pretty good. The hotel ruined my trip.”

• Location.

“Nice rooms next to a Kroger and close to restaurants and ocean. Free parking for cruises but is not 2 miles away from cruise line. More like 12 miles or so. Taxi ride was almost $17 one way.”

• The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating.
• The room was run down and had a mildew smell to it.

“Overall this was a decent hotel to stay in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However the room was a bit run down and smelled of mildew. The beach across the street had a health warning posted on it, so with my small child I did not feel comfortable swimming there.”

“It is obvious that this hotel, being so close to the beach, has a high occupancy rate with many travelers coming and going, however the wear and tear are evident in the hotel rooms, walkways, elevators, pool (which is too small for the size of hotel) lobby. We chose it because it was so close to the beach, but were disappointed in the quality of the hotel itself.”

• The hotel was right across the street from the beach.
• The room was old. The bed was so uncomfortable, I could feel the springs when I slept. The bed actually broke at one point.

“The hotel says it has made renovations, but I didn't see them. The room smelled so bad and the bed actually broke at one point. It's close to the beach, but that's about all this hotel has going for it.”

• Great Location right across from the beach.
• Hotel room and sheets smelled like dirty toilet water.

“Wonderful continental breakfast, and we really appreciated the refridgerator and microwave in the rooms. With Kroger next door, we were able to save a bunch of money on food. The staff were wonderful and the location on the beach couldn't have been better. Only complaint, the sheets and the room smelled dirty. I don't know if it was just the local water, but it wasn't pleasent.”

• We had a problem with the lock on the door and the head of maintenance was very helpful and friendly.
• No boosters or highchairs at the breakfast area downstairs for my young daughter.

“This hotel was very much a 2 star hotel. There was nothing all that special about it but there wasn't that much to complain about either for the price compared to other hotels on the beach.”

• For the first time, we were able to have requests granted when we arrived.
• The beds weren't that comfortable.

• The guy who came to repair the toilet was very nice and helpful.
• They charged $20 more for a room with a view and we could not see the gulf from the window.

“They claim to have a view of the Gulf. But there is none. It is too far from the beach and the lobby building blocks the view. All you get is a 4th floor room, which at least gets sunlight compared to floors 1-3. Very disappointed in the view. They call themselves Beachfront hotel, but they are far from that.”

• There aren't very many rooms with ocean views.

“Good location, great breakfast. Our only problem was our room didn't have an ocean view. When we asked early the second morning if we could be moved to a room with a view for the duration of our stay (if one became available), they told us that was against their policy. Other than that, overall good stay.”

• Heated pool. Staff was very nice. Including maintenance and housekeeper.
• Cost, crowded room, small dressing area and bath room, floors worn.

“The staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful. but, the carpet didn't feel clean. Bed was not comfortable. Bed covers were old. The dressing area was to small, air conditioner was to noisy. Room was crowded.”

“Everything was great until I extended my stay and on the last day they moved us to a different room. Even though on the first day they said they took care of it. Also, the room they moved us to had a broken toilet and the internet did not work.”

“I was put in the old part of the hotel. Told that the new part was not handicap accessible. The rooms were small and the shower did not work. The employee was however very nice and professional I did receive a discount due to the problems with the room. They were in the end very egger to please.”

• very old room, poor furniture, bathroom had problems

“My wife and I stayed at this Hotel. When we entered the room, it had a bad smell. The furniture was very old and surely needs to be replaced by new one. The carpet was sticky. The toilet had clogging problem.”

“I had read some bad reviews of this hotel before I got there so I was a little worried about what to expect. However, when I arrived, the staff was friendly and the room was clean and had a microwave and a refrigerator. The free continental breakfast was adequate and, well, free. Overall, I was pleased with the room, the staff and the location of the hotel.”

• Commode flooded first day, door handle came off in my hand 2nd day; granddaughter was taking shower and would not turn off - had to shut water off.

• I enjoyed the continental breakfast and the pool.
• One day, we contacted the hotel 3 times about cleaning the room. No one did. We asked for towels, and had to go get them ourselves.

“The location of the hotel was wonderful. We were disappointed with room service cleaning and there was a large water stain on the ceiling. We enjoyed the pool and continental breakfast.”

• The staff was excellent! And thats hard to find.
• It was a bit noise - but we did go on memorial day weekend, so Im sure it would be the same anywhere.

“We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were good size, clean, plenty of towels - right across the street from the beach. The staff was great on the phone and in person! The pool looked very nice - we didn't have time to go. Would stay at a latter date for sure! Also we had two get a second room for family and all they had left was smoking - which turned out fine - the room had no smoke smell.”

“They first put us in a smoking room without telling us, and we found this out when we got to our room on the 3rd floor. I called the front desk and she said we would have to come back down to get another room assigned. I had my 83 year old mother-in-law, and luggage on a valet that I had to drag down to the lobby. She then assigned us to a room that was three doors down from where the smoking room was. If I would have known this, I could have left my mother-in-law and the luggage outside the room, and gone to the lobby to get the key. Other than that, everything was fine.”

• The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating.
• Room was very musty smelling; access to stairway/elevators/emergency exits was very far away. Only one light in the room worked.

• Friendly, helpful staff. A/c worked well. Price was reasonable.
• Slow drain in sink. Water would sit for a long time and looked gross. Some things looked old and needed updating.

“I liked this hotel ok but wouldn¿t want to go back. I liked the manager and all the staff that I encountered. But there were aspects of the hotel that I didn't feel comfortable about with regards to the cleanliness. For example, the carpet, the sheets and the towels. I couldn't put my finger on anything, in particular. That's just how I felt.”

• The location was great. Everything we wanted was within walking distance.
• The bed sheet had a red stain on it that we couldn't identify.

“This is a good hotel for families. The pool is nice and the location to the beach is great. I would not recommend this hotel to a couple who is looking for a romantic setting however. There is a lot of outside noise, especially rooms overlooking the pool. They were not able to honor my request for a room facing the beach so I cannot comment on the noise level of those rooms.”

• Great Location with a great Mexican restaurant next to it.
• Too expensive and unorganized -- during a major, messy exterior renovation.

“We went to Galveston in mid-July for a business/family vacation trip. The location was excellent, just across the street from a small beach, and directly next to an excellent Mexican restaurant. Upon check in, we were given a small scare. They only had us staying two of the three nights we had reserved. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us all three nights. The lobby and the rooms were fine, but the exterior was in shambles with workers all around repairing it. Also - the closest elevator to our rooms didn't work, so we had to walk through areas where some of the workers were, and that was uncomfortable as they were speaking in Spanish as they watched us go by. Unfortunately, our rooms -which were the farthest away from the front of the hotel - had a view of the dumpsters. We were awakened at 5:45 by beeping because they were replacing one of their dumpsters. One day this will be a nice enough motel, but for now it is too expensive for the experience.”

• Grocery store next door. Adequate parking and close to beach.
• Hot mosquito filled elevator. Breakfast hard to get to due to small counter space.
