• It seemed pretty clean, and quality of furniture, etc., was good.
• Staff at front desk was not too friendly.

“Our initial experience upon checking in was a bit off-putting. There were three staff behind the counter, two of whom were already engaged with hotel guests. The third staff, after we'd been waiting a couple of minutes, finished shuffling her papers, and then looked up at me and asked "Was there something you needed?" Check-in was easy after that, but I hate that question. The lobby was clean and spacious. Our room was in the back of the hotel. Our entrance (entrance C), while it was not unsightly, was certainly not attractive. We passed through what felt like an oven of a foyer, past a maintenance closet that had loud equipment humming, to the elevator, which was also quite hot. Our room, we found, was located next to the ice and coke machines. Though the location was not premium, the room was clean and well-maintained. There was no refrigerator, which is listed as a room amenity on the hotel website. The only real complaint about the room (besides lack of refrigerator) was that the room felt very damp inside at about 4 AM, for some reason. Probably the air conditioning system.”

• Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
• Parking was a little far from the room.

“Nice hotel, close to everything while being quiet. Friendly staff at every level. Hotel was neat we had a beautiful location and we counted our staff there as exceptional. And I never answer these surveys. But, this hotel deserves to be singled out for excellence.”

• Helpful staff. Great location. Hotel wasn't busy, so it was quiet.
• Hard, squeaky bed. Business center computers were slow, with poker and IM junk downloaded by other guests.

“Staff was great. Effort has been put into modernizing, but there are enough original touches to not let you forget the age of the property. I would be disappointed to pay rack rate. There was not in my room, although the TV was fine.”

• They gave $20 voucher for breakfast in the cafe.

“I think this hotel was remodeled in the past couple of years. Very nice bar/restaurant are, we expected a continental type breakfast and instead was pleasantly surprised with a $20 voucher to use in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good. We didn't swim while there but there was a nice pool area in the center, with miniature golf. Everyone was very nice, I would recommend.”

• The indoor pool and put put golf course were nice for kids and adults.
• There was a pug dog convention that weekend and I couldn't believe they were letting dogs stay in the hotel.

“Overall, it was a nice hotel. Think the cleaning staff was lacking as there were issues getting checked in waiting on a clean room at 6:00 in the evening. I enjoyed most everything else though. The pool looked really clean and the put put golf course was a nice added touch for entertaining kids.”

• Facilities for children and relaxing.
• Staff was overwhelmed.

“Nice family or business hotel with good upgrades but staffing has not caught up with business. They have definitely made some nice renovations in facilities. I do like staying there and the pool area and mini golf are great with kids or for relaxation. Just could not get waited on for breakfast and the rooms were late being ready for check-in.”

• It was close to the interstate.
• The A/C did not work for both days we were there. The place was run down and in need of repair.

• Location is excellent. Off the strip and quiet but very accessible.
• Rooms are not particularly large or "luxury" but clean and well maintained.

• They allowed me to check in early as I was ill and needed the room.
• As a conventioneer some of the amenities provided between and during sessions were not available, such as coffee, tea and water.

“This is a typical holiday inn, older and established but in need of, but receiving updates and renovations. You can usually depend on the basic services of a holiday inn. The staff was very accommodating to me as I needed the room immediately and they provided that service, hours before check in. I appreciated that.”

• There was no phone book or other information about Lawrence in the room. Staff did bring a phone book.

“This hotel is over priced because it is in a University City. Most Hotels have a continental breakfast, this one did not. Food was very expensive. We will not been staying in a Holidome again.”

• Rooms are a little old.

“Overall, I found nothing wrong with this hotel. The atrium had many activities, although the pool was very cold. The rooms showed a bit of their age, but they were clean and comfortable.”

• Easy Location.
• Room Temperature - too hot & AC was not on or working.

“The room was reasonable and clean. It would be cramped for more than two people. The temperature control would not allow for air conditioning and the room was a little too warm. The location was convenient off of the Interstate, plenty of parking, and relatively close to the University. We got our money's worth.”

“There was a used straw in full view of entering the room. In the morning we discovered ants by the window, which made their way into my daughters suitcase. Something had been spilled by the window and was never cleaned up, thus attracting the ants. They gave us another room, but every time I told them about the ants they brushed it off, so I do not know if they took care of the problem or not. The heating and cooling system is very old and does not work well at all.”

• Advil capsule by bed, not mine. Heating, cooling unit does not work.

“This hotel is in the middle of remodeling. I hope they fix the heating and cooling system. It was unbearably hot, and the window had to be left open to be able to sleep comfortably. The outside temp at night was only in the 30's.”

• I can¿t think of anything.

“I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews, however this hotel was great! It is currently being remodeled but was super quiet! My room was clean and the staff was friendly to make sure that my needs were met. I would stay here again without a doubt!”

• They had toothpaste and I had forgotten mine.
• They would not change us to a bigger bed even though they were not very full.

“Convenient location but a bit run down and dreary. There was a heavy damp chlorine smell upon entering the lobby due to the indoor pool. The mini golf and ping-pong really could use a re-do but the mini golf was being used a lot by kids who were enjoying it. Overall a bit disappointing.”

• The room they put us in had not been used for months. It was all moldy. The carpet in the hallways was threadbare and very stained.

“This hotel is the most tired Holiday Inn we have seen or stayed at. It needs redone and bad. There was no excuse for putting us in a room that was all moldy as had not been used for months.”

• Great staff, good location for our needs.
• Needs renovation. Dirty carpets, broken/uneven concrete at handicap areas.

“Great location right off the turnpike, though less than walking distance to downtown area. Wonderful shade trees in the parking lots, which tells the hotel has been there for some time. That said, the stained carpets and general worn appearance within the interior also speaks of the age of the building. Better lighting is needed in the stairwells and they could use a good cleaning. This differed from our room, found it to be very clean. These suggestions are simply to improve the overall aesthetics of the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying there again.”

• Since it's a national chain, that eases some concerns about what kind of place it's going to be.
• The front desk staff was more focused on talking amongst themselves than helping guests.

“Rooms and such need updating, but the facility was okay overall. I called ahead to request a crib in our room, checked in late and again confirmed there would be a crib. Entered the room and there was no crib. Had to call the front desk staff and wait for them to bring it up. The purpose of requesting it in advance was to keep from having to wait around for it, as I knew our baby would be extremely tired by the time we arrived. A two-star rating probably does this hotel justice.”

• large roomy rooms and pool
• It was somewhat dated, although very clean

“This was a great family hotel. The room was nice and roomy. The courtyard was spacious with many things for the kids to do. Some of these included, miniature golf, ping pong, large indoor pool, video games and exercise room. There was a restaurant on the premises.”

• Location; on premises restaurant was convienient
• Carpeting in hallways was badly worn and soiled. Restaurant wait staff need to be more attentive to their customers. The room's bathroom sink clogged.

“This hotel has a good location and facilities, however it needs to have all its hallway carpets and carpet padding replaced. Walking down the hallways was like walking barefoot on a wet beach. The carpets were badly soiled and worn.This seemed like a tired, old Holiday Inn but it was not that old a structure.”

“We had a friend in another room in the hotel. when we went to visit her she told us how nice it was. She had a bottle of water, a mint, and ice in her ice bucket. we said oh, we did not get any of that in our room. seems like they should be consistent. at 10:00am we had a knock at our door it was the maid. she could speak some broken english and understand some. she would not leave and had to come in to clean the room. (vacuum the floor and check the empty trash cans) my wife was taking a shower at the time, and had to stay in the bathroom. we felt if the maid could have understood more she would have come back at a later time.”

• gave me a free breakfast for all the screw ups they made
• wrong room at 3am, waited 20 min for key, leaky toilet, hot as hell, defect in bed cut my ankle

“Holiday Inn has deteriorated badly, needs to put money into maintenance. Carpets were worn and stained. We had to wait 20 minutes at 3 am to get a security guard to let us in a room after the electronic key machine failed to work several times. Key later failed again during our stay. The room was hot and we were told the system is set to heat only in the winter time. With the hotel in its present state it is barely a one star hotel. They had two metal rods sticking out of side of my bed. I cut my ankle on it. Very dissatisfied with the experience over all. The wait staff however were extremely attentive and nice. Manager was somewhat nice but should have been more apologetic. I won't stay there again and will bad mouth it to friends.”

• The front desk attendant was courtious, & helpful. The brunch was excellant
• The carpeting in the hall was disgustingly dirty/old.

“The Holidome was very close to the KU campus where we were touring this past Sat. morning. The room was clean. However, we looked on three floors for ice & didn't have any luck. The help at the Holiday Inn was extremly nice.”
