• It was located just where I wanted the staff was cordial but not overly friendly.
• It is mostly used by business people and does not really cater to families.

“While the hotel was nice and centrally located the staff was not terribly helpful and I disliked not being able to access my car when I wanted.”

• Very convenient to things in downtown-had a downtown shuttle.
• Price of valet parking - outrageous!

“My stay was very nice. The front desk staff, concierge and valets were all very nice. I do think that $24 a night for valet parking (no self parking is offered) is outrageous!”

• There is no pool of any sort.

“We are very disappointed that there is no pool of any sort on the premises, especially we were traveling with a nine year old and a five year old. Any if you like authentic Asia food, the hotel is about 20 minute drive to Chinatown. But is pretty close to the museums and the zoo and 15 minutes to the Galleria Mall. The Valet staff were very friendly and the cookies were delicious too. Overall we had a great time and Houston left us a wonderful impression and will definitely visit again.”

“Overall a very nice place to stay in Houston. The room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The valet parking is overpriced, but they made every effort to get your car up to you in a timely manner.”

“The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Of course we love the warm chocolate-chip cookies at check-in! We used the hotel shuttle to take us to the Toyota Center for a Rockets basketball game. When we called to arrange the return trip, we were told it would be about 15 minutes. 40 minutes later, we were still waiting. If they had just told us that we would have to wait that long, we would have taken a taxi back to the hotel.”

• Liked the beds (although extremely small).
• 75% of the staff was horrible. Room was so tiny.

“We had spent 3 previous nights at the Doubletree Guest Suites Houston. We decided to stay one more night. In comparison to the Galleria Guest Suites, this hotel was miserable. The staff was rude and seemed to ignore us because we had kids and were not there on business like most other guests. When we checked in with 4 members, we only got one cookie (whereas the Guest Suites Doubletree gave us one for each member of our party). We were sent on a hunt for our own luggage rack (although were later told that the original staff member we asked should have taken care of that for us - I guess when he realized we were going to bring up our own luggage and there was nothing in it for him, why should he help us?). The room was about 1/10 the size of our suite at Guest Suites. The double beds were WAY too small for two adults. On top of that, the whole room smelled like mold and mildew. The sheets and pillows did as well. I have very bad allergies and asthma, and spent a miserable last night of our vacation on those mildew sheets. With us staying at 2 Doubletree hotels within a day of each other, it was very easy to compare. The Doubletree Downtown gets a 1 out of 10 and the Doubletree Guest Suites gets a 10 out of 10.”

• The fast shuttle service and the bed was very soft.
• There was one shuttle driver that was not friendly at all.

“The a/c was out in our room so the staff kindly moved us but the next room was not much better and it was late before we noticed that the temp was not going any lower than 78 or so. So, the nights sleep was horrible.”

• Excellent service, great rooms, great shuttle service saved about $450 IN CABS during 4 day stay.
• Parking at $24 per day was a little much.

• The room was fresh and clean and very comfortable and I love the Neutrogena Products.
• There was construction right across the street that woke us up at 7:00am on Saturday morning.

• This was a cozy weekend getaway with luxurious comfort.
• I did not like the fact that we did not microwave, refrigerator, nor adequate parking.

“This hotel was a definite an upscale hotel, but housekeeping could have made sure they double checked the room for dirty towels. We did see one roach, but overall, the service was wonderful.”

“Everything was great at the hotel and I had everything I requested. I was really upset about the parking being valet only and the rate was 23.00 per day but there were other lots around the hotel that charged 10.00 and they were in walking distance.”

• There was Drilling in the walls all day! No naps. We were there for a hospital visit.

“My husband and I were there for a visit to the Medical Center to see our physicians, and needed some quiet time when we returned from there. There was horrific drilling noise all afternoon! We have stayed here before and did not encounter this sort of thing.”

• The location was close to all the attractions in Houston and the shopping was great. The Hotel is very elegant and clean. I felt like a super star.
• Well I guess I can say the location is hard to get too with all the direction comings and goings and they were also under construction at the time.

“Okay I had a lovely and wonderful time. The Hotel had every thing I could ask for. I worked out an exercise a little bit, dined at the restaurant, it was great. I also took a short walk outside the senery was great. The bed felt like heaven it was awesome.”

• The location in relation to our plans worked out great.
• The hotel staff is in dire need of more training for the high standards doubletree usually has.

“The name Doubletree usually means high standards. This trip that was not the case. Upon arrival the staff seemed disorganized, distracted with other staff in the lobby, and overall unfriendly. After a four hour trip we were ready to get to the room. The bell hops seemed to be unwilling to assist us with our luggage to the room. So we started for the elevator with our cart and one of them stopped me to tell me to return the cart to this area. I was thinking he was going to help us to the room. I felt like sending the cart down the elevator and to let him get it. Another thing is construction. I am not sure if it was being done in our hotel or next door, but I am pretty sure you are suppose to be made aware of things like this. This did not seem like a "go out of your way" staff. I have stayed with other Doubletrees and this by far was the worst experience.”

“I was shocked and in disbelief when I saw the lipstick stains on the paper coffee cup. The plates (I saw 3 of them) in the restaurant for breakfast buffet were dirty.”

• Nice room, attractive lobby areas, and a very helpful and accommodating staff.
• The only hotel parking is valet which was expensive at $23. Other lots nearby and some street parking if you are leaving very early.

“A very nice facility with very good rooms, common areas, and staff, if you want to be near downtown activities, but the location and parking situation is not ideal. If you need in and out parking privileges, plan to add $23 to the cost of the room (at least on weekdays).”

“Good value for the price. Restaurant was a good value for breakfast. I couldn't get non-smoking and the smoking floor reeked of stale smoke. I will not stay there again without a non smoking room.”

“Parking is way too expensive $26, only option. When asking the front desk staff about parking meter, how to use it, only answer: the parking meter is not affiliated with our hotel. I don't need anybody to tell me that. All I need to know is how to use it from your local experience.”

• The cookies are warm.
• The sales manager is inflexible even when we offered to pay more for the hospitality room to keep the room rates down.

“Our organization stayed there simply for the location. The hospitality room wasn't available or clean per the contract. We had to vacuum the room one morning ourselves. The hotel manager promised the next visit would be better. This year, he's gone & the new sales manager is not only obstinate but condescending. It's been an uphill fight to negotiate. The only reason we're here is the location.”
