• Fun sayings on room cards and door hangers, coffee set-up, Aveda, and newspaper choice products.

“We had a seamless visit. Check-in was simple. We had refreshments in the lounge and had excellent service. The valet service was very courteous, giving us simple driving directions. Our room was very comfortable – with plenty of space. We enjoyed our stay.”

• Some staff did not know if the shuttle would take us to MD Anderson.

• Wonderful view from the 7 floor, very clean, well appointed.
• Very small bathroom, toilet was very close to the tub/shower in the same room.

“This was located in the area we needed, very comfortable facilities, had convenient movie theater with shuttle to that area.”

• The front desk person made sure to offer us all kinds of extras and special request for our room.
• The parking situation was inconvenient and hard to get to.

• Lack of fridge/microwave in room, internet wasn't free, room wasn't super clean.

“The location of the Renaissance was great for most activities in Houston. The hotel itself was nice, and offered some great conveniences like valet parking and a Starbucks. The staff is super helpful with directions, food recommendations, etc. My room was not fancy but it was nicer than the average hotel. However, I checked in with an infant and a 5 year old to stay for 3 days and was given a room with no fridge or microwave, and there was certainly no shortage of available rooms at the time. There also were a few things that weren't cleaned well (the toilet being one). You must pay to park (in the underground parking garage), and take an escalator to get to the main floors. If you need internet access in your room it's about $10/day, that, along with parking is usually free at most of the hotels. Overall, a nice looking hotel in a good location that offers decent amenities, but be prepared or you may be disappointed.”

• Greenway Plaza can be difficult to navigate until you know where you are going.

“The Renaissance Houston Hotel at Greenway Plaza is a very nice and well kept upscale hotel in the Medical Center area of Houston. It's location on US 59 North puts you within reach of the Reliant Stadium area, but still keeps you away from the traffic and dinginess of the south 610 Loop. It's a short drive to the stadium, but too far to walk. The hotel is surrounded by several nice eateries and a limited amount of shopping. However, if you're looking for more, you can find it with a short trip south on US 59. The Greenway Plaza area is very well kept and provides a very safe feel. However, it can be tricky to navigate until you learn where you are going. Don't get your driving directions from Map Quest! Our room was very comfortable and spacious. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We self parked for the very reasonable rate of $10, but valet parking is available. If you're looking for something in the Med Center District or something close to the Reliant Stadium area, you'll like the Renaissance.”

• The parking lot was difficult to get in and out of. Also it was difficult to tell what area you parked in.

“Shares parking with a church as well as other businesses. Couldn't even get into the parking lot on Sunday night because Church service getting out at time we returned to hotel and all traffic directed out by police. Hotel computers not only costly, but non-functioning.”

“The Renaissance is pleasant, has comfortable rooms, and is in a great location. They charge $10 per day for self-parking which was surprising since it was not downtown. They also charge for internet access (another $10 per day) and local phone calls ($0.55 each).”

• The room we got on the concierge floor was excellent.
• There was no parking for even a few minutes in front.

“We were pleased with the location of the hotel and there was plenty of parking underground. While our stay was short (only one night) we found the hotel to be exceptionally clean and accommodating. Our room was large, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We'd go to this hotel again.”

• The hotel was extremely secure and I felt very safe. Also, the bed was most comfortable.
• The lounge closed too early 11pm is much too early.

“My experience at this hotel was very favorable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. I especially liked the abundance of pillows (enough to prop comfortably in bed for work or TV watching). My only complaint was that the sports bar closed at 11pm and there was a crowd of more than 30 people who had to break up. The hotel definitely is designed for the comfort of the business traveler.”

• It was a beautiful hotel, with friendly and courteous staff. It had a swimming pool that we enjoyed and a nice workout/sauna area. Security on hand.
• At this time, all parking was valet, no option.

“A beautiful hotel. Location and surrounding stores/offices are definitely geared for the business travelers with computers and office equipment available to be used via credit card charge. Good location off of Hwy 59 close to other major roadways to get you around the Houston area. Swimming was about it for children activities so I would not consider this a best choice for a family vacation hotel.”

• This was a very clean hotel. The staff was great.
• Trying to find the entrance to this hotel was a joke. SUV valet parking only was a rip-off.

“This is a very nice hotel. It's very convenient. The only downside was that we had to pay $17 per day to park our SUV. If we had been in a car, we could've self-parked. I don't think that's fair.”

The valet states that they transport within 3 mile radius, but they won't drive to Med Center 2.5 miles away. If you drive, be prepared to pay for parking.”
