• The buffet breakfast was superb.
• Unlike other Marriott properties (e.g. Springhill Suites) the continental breakfast was not free.

“It was hard to find this hotel! I knew where it was supposed to be, but when I went to the location where I expected to see it, I couldn't see it while I was driving. It is well back from the road, and one has to enter the parking lot for a shopping center to get to it. Also while the buffet breakfast was first-class, there was no sign indicating that it wasn't free - it cost me and my wife over $9 each. This was a surprise, because I had stayed the previous night in another Marriott property, Springhill Suites, that has a great - and free - buffet breakfast. Especially since free continental breakfasts are so commonly available even for some 1-star motels, I think the hotel owes it to their guests before they sit down to make it clear that they have to pay. On the plus side, there is an indoor pool (small, 5-foot depth maximum) and exercise room and the accommodations are quite comfortable.”

• The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was also conveniently located near many things.
• The price of the breakfast buffet was a little high for what you get.

“Overall it was a great experience. I asked the front desk guy for a late check out and he had the deer in the head lights look. He had no clue what to say. Other than that, we loved the place and the beds were so comfortable!”

• Housekeeping pounding on the door the day we checked out.

“The hotel was in a great location respective to restaurants, shopping and highways. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I found the breakfast buffet to be overpriced and feel it should have been included in the price of the room (although my husband did ask for comp tickets and they gave us 2 for the first night's stay). The only complaint I have is that housekeeping woke us up at 9:00 am pounding on the door the day we were to check out! Even the economy hotels leave you alone the day you check out.”

• The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful.
• The hot tub in the pool area was MUCH too hot. No one could use it.

• Awkward to get to, not enough parking, no complimentary breakfast, available breakfast a bit pricey.

• I loved the spaciousness of the room. I liked the facilities (workout room and pool). It was in a good location.
• There wasn't a fridge in the room.

“The staff was friendly and helpful. It was clean and well kept. There was a nice patio that if it had been nice out would have been great to sit on. There wasn't a fridge in the room as I had thought I had seen advertisement which was disappointing.”

• It was an attractive, clean hotel. It offered a nice breakfast buffet/menu and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
• Pool area and hot tub could have been a little cleaner. Earlier guests had left trash, etc. that staff should have been more timely on cleaning.

“I thought the hotel was very nice for the star level rating of a 2.5. I think it was underrated. It appeared to be newer. It was clean. The decor was nice and inviting. The staff was very helpful. We were in town for an athletic tournament. The hotel was full, but the staff was on top of it. Rooms were roomy and comfortable for a hotel of its class.”

“We enjoyed our stay at the motel, the room was good, the staff was friendly, but than when we get home and I check my bank statement I find the motel charged me for our room. I have attempted to get them to straighten the situation our and it seems that all I get is a run around. I have attempted to talk to the manger on several occasions and I keep getting a run around. I am very displeased with the managers attitude and for the fact I have paid twice for the same room.”

• The staff was welcoming and made an excellent restaurant suggestion.
• Poor signage made it hard to find.

“This hotel is located about two miles from Interstate 70 off of Interstate 470 at exit two. It is typical of the Courtyard brand, and it is surrounded by many chain restaurants and a mall. For our trip between Denver and St. Louis, it is located well at the approximate midpoint.”

• When I actually stayed in the room, it was nice.
• THEY SOLD MY ROOM out from under me for the 1st 2 nights and sent me to 2 different hotels that were very un-satisfactory.

“The staff is extremely un-organized and a few of them are extremely rude. They sold my room out from under me for the 1st night, I went to check back in the next day, and they sold my room again. The third and final day of my stay, they said they accidentally cancelled my room, but were able to re-book it. I later received a call from the manager stating I could re-book the room for $50. I liked the hotel, but the staff needs to be replaced or trained to handle simple customer service issues in a professional manner.”

• The location was great, it was nice & clean.
• The breakfast buffet was good, but expensive. I enjoy the complementary breakfasts other hotels offer.

“Our overall experience was very positive. The only dark spot was that our teenage daughter left her makeup bag with her jewelry in it, in our room. When I called the hotel, it had not been turned in. I left my name & number, but I doubt we see that again if it wasn't turned in that day.”

“The hotel was fine. Clean and generally helpful and friendly staff. When I asked for a late checkout, it was denighed (due to management) and then I wasn't received very nicely by the person I asked, it was almost like I asked to stay for free. Other then that, it was a pleasant stay.”

“This hotel is very conveniently located near many restaurants. When we asked about a steakhouse, we were given a very good recommendation along with a 10% discount coupon. The adjoining room was full of noisy beauty pageant types so next time I would ask for a room with no adjoining. The bathroom sink is separate which allows two people to get ready and that was a time saver. Very clean and pleasant.”

“While clean and pleasant, they do not provide some very basic amenities with the price. Most hotels wisely provide AT LEAST a contenental breakfast with your stay - they did not. They even laughed at the fact that a lot of people misunderstand their information page concerning breakfast. Most hotels wisely provide free local calling - they did not. They are clean, but the basics cost more - not good in my book!!!!!!!!”

• When we checked out the attendant was mis-informed and thought we had been charged twice. But she read the receipt wrong.

• I liked the location.
• It was difficult to find the driveway to the hotel.

“I was not happy with my stay. When I arrived at 10pm I walked into my room and the smoke detector was chirping. When I called down to let them know the battery was low, I was told someone would come up and replace the battery. About 10 minutes later, I was called back and told I would be moved to a different room. The room I was moved to was not as nice and smaller than the first room. I had driven quite a while and was tired and didn't like the fact that I couldn't unpack or anything for over 1/2 hour after my arrival.”

“My 8 night stay at the Topeka Courtyard by Marriott was acceptable. My only comment is that similar 2.5 star hotels in Topeka offer free breakfast. The Courtyard has a breakfast buffet for $7.95.”
