“We waited for 20 minutes for a waiter to take our order. It was our honeymoon weekend. This was the only bad thing about this hotel. Big rooms, comfortable, friendly staff, and I guess one could expect more of the swimming pool only being 3 ft. deep.”

- Really good food, and the staff was as helpful as they could be, under the circumstances.
- The noise.
“I don't get much quiet time with two small children in my home, so I was very much looking forward to this one night as a mini-vacation. However, much to my dismay, we had to listen to really loud construction noises going on the roof of the hotel. The noise reverberated down the elevators and was almost unbearable. We did ask to be moved farther away from the elevators, and the noise did subside a little, but we were moved from a very spacious room with two queen beds and a couch, to the smallest room I've ever stayed in - ever. I felt like we were in a closet, really; the room was an odd shape with just enough room for a queen bed and a small desk and chair. But, I was happier in the smaller room with less noise than in the larger room, so we stayed. It was really a shame, because otherwise the hotel was really nice and I would have totally enjoyed the evening instead of gritting my teeth and trying to ignore all the hub-bub. I really thought about asking for some kind of compensation, since I felt so strongly that those hours were not at all restful, but then decided against adding more stress to the situation.”

- No complaints.
“This hotel overall has all you need for a good visit to Dallas. View of Downtown, right next to freeway entrance, rooftop pool and workout facility, dining, valet service and great comfortable beds with nice white linens. Very nice two night stay. Rooms are also large.”

“The room was nice but not what I would of expected for a 4 star. There was no complimentary juice or coffee etc in the mornings, if you wanted more than 1 cup provided in your room you had to go and pay at a coffee shop in the hotel.”

- It was all that we expected and more.
- The room service rates where a little higher than expected.
“This hotel was excellent. The staff was friendly and the room was spectacular. The pool and hot tub are on the roof which is awesome and there is a place to go all the way up to see the view over Dallas. You can see an awesome sunset up there and from your room. I would defiantly recommend for people to stay there if at all possible.”

“This hotel is undergoing a complete renovation that will be completed in June of 2008. In its old state, The guest rooms are not four star. However, the newly remodeled rooms are truly four star.”

- Initially assigned a married couple to room with two double beds. But, moved to upper level king.

- Basically nice, clean, and friendly. It had some upscale features but not a full four-star place.
- The lobby was small and uninviting. The place has the feel of a business hotel with most emphasis on getting to the rooms and little for families.
“Excellent hotel in almost every way. It has the feel of a good business hotel but isn't a place that naturally accommodates families. The small and minimal lobby isn't welcoming to small children, which we have.”

- The glass stairway was very dirty and noticeable from the restaurant.

- Service staff was unfailingly upbeat despite the dismal surroundings.
- The rooms were encrusted with the residue of nearly 30 years of guests.
“The hotel is located a 10-minute cab or car ride from downtown on the freeway-very inconvenient if you are attending any event in downtown (and no easy access to public transport). Noise from the freeway pervades every room. Despite being listed as a four star facility, the decor and the upkeep of the rooms is seriously in need of improvement; I was told that the renovation begins in a month, but I suspect they've been saying that to guests since the early 1990s. In short, this is a hotel that has long since seen its heyday and is desperately trying to stay in business.”

- Convenient to Market Center.
- Casual dining room closed for dinner on Saturday night; formal dining closed for private party, only place to eat was bar and lucky to get seat.
“Very attractive lobby, a bit chilly. It was winter and the storm doors did not seem to keep out the draft. Dining can be limiting, as only one of the 3 dining facilities were open on the Saturday night I stayed. No outside dining options in immediate area, only with a cab ride into downtown areas. Very convenient to Market Center however, can walk if weather is nice. Rooms were pleasant with relatively comfortable beds. Could use a mirror over by desk near window. Only mirror was in bathing area. No fridge or mini bar in room.”

- The Lobby, the staff and the bed.
- Quality of some of the food from room service.
“The staff is what makes this hotel. They go the extra mile for the hotel guest. From the time you arrive in the beautiful lobby to checkout, the porters, room service staff, housekeeping all give you the feeling of being well cared for with all the comforts of home without the headaches of cooking and cleanup. This hotel still needs work with Room Service. The food at times was outstanding. At other times the food would be delivered cold. Some items on the menu were just not good. Its hard to imagine a kitchen that could deliver a steak that was to die for to grits that weren't grits at all.”

- Nonfunctional $9.95/day internet, lousy airport pickup (45 minutes).
“This is a nothing special, good business class hotel. It is close to Love Field, which is getting more business I guess these days. It still has the rapacious $9.95 charge for wired internet, in an era when hotels their class and lower give free and vastly better internet service wirelessly.”

- Rooms need renovation, dirty stained tubs, no ice bucket.
“I was only in the hotel briefly, in a hurry, to shower and change clothes before going out. I couldn't find an ice bucket anywhere, so I had to fill up glasses with ice down the hotel to have my cocktails. (I didn't call the front desk since I would be leaving shortly and in the shower most of the time. I did tell them about it when I left and I had an ice bucket the next morning. When I checked out. The bed was very comfortable but the room was rather worn. I would probably rank this hotel a 3-star, maybe 3-1/2.”

- We had an unattractive, dark room that has not yet renovated. Many ugly spots and stains on the room carpet.
“This hotel definitely should not be a 4 star until all of the rooms are renovated. I feel I overpaid a lot for this hotel. Very disappointed (although I would consider that this might be a 4 star property after all of the renovations are done).”

“I was at this hotel for 6 days. The workers at the hotel were slow and lazy. My room was very small and oddly shaped. It was at the end of the building. There was not mini bar, and internet access could not be acquired from this room. I had to go down to the lobby to use my computer. I go to school on line, and had to take a test in the noisy lobby! The business center was usually to busy for me to use. when I complained(everyday) about the lack of internet, they would just stand there with a stupid grin on their faced( all of them) and say they would re set the internet(which never worked). I probably will never stay at a Marriott again.”

- The entrance and public spaces are very nice and staffs were exceptionally friendly.
- I expected a bigger bathroom for a 4-star hotel.

- The view was great, except the windows were dirty. The rooftop pool is cool.
- Dirty room, wet/trashy bathroom floor, red stained carpet, dirty windows.

- I found the staff to be courteous, friendly, and professional.
- The food was overpriced, but good.

- Our room was on the top floor (30) which provided us with beautiful view of the city of Dallas.
- The front desk agents in the morning did not have any information on breakfast served in the hotel, and did offer to call the restaurant until asked.
“The hotel is very nicely decorated, from the hotel lobby to the restaurants and rooms. The bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo) are very nice. We had dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, T-Bones which was excellent. The service was great and the steaks were mouth-watering. The beds were very comfortable and the views of the city at night added a nice romantic touch. Overall, a very good experience at the Renaissance.”

- Staffs ability to book rooms properly.
“The hotel gave me a complimentary night stay for the future since they gave my room to two other guests through out the night and sent hotel security to my room to see who I was.”

- Exterior monolithic design.
- Housekeeping doesn't have a clue.
“I've already reviewed this property recently. It's a solid 3 star - The Hilton Anatole across the freeway was bigger and the common areas cavernous. To compare, this place is small. On my last 2 visits to this property the AC didn't work properly, and it was August in Dallas. On top of that 2 of the 3 nights there, there was no hot water all night long. One of the nights it didn't come back until about 9:00 am - perhaps a one-time boiler repair but who knows Beware.”

- It was very nice and clean.
- A security guard and a manager came knocking on doors, because someone was smoking. I thought it was very tacky.

- Location and friendly staff.
- Outdated; not great for business traveler; TV needs updated and would like to get more cable channels; no hot water.
“"Back in the day" this was a great hotel but other chains have passed it up in terms of quality of brand. It needs renovations - updated the rooms. I was also disappointed that I did not have hot water that evening or the next morning. It was a disappointing experience for a 4 star hotel. Not sure I will stay there again - too many other options.”
