- It was very nice for the price.
- The glass stairway was very dirty and noticeable from the restaurant.
“Rooms were very nice, good workout area. The only negative was the glass/brass staircase which was very dirty and the columns in the lobby area were dirty also. This was apparent from the restaurant and was not very appetizing while you were eating or having a drink in the bar.”

- Service staff was unfailingly upbeat despite the dismal surroundings.
- The rooms were encrusted with the residue of nearly 30 years of guests.
“The hotel is located a 10-minute cab or car ride from downtown on the freeway-very inconvenient if you are attending any event in downtown (and no easy access to public transport). Noise from the freeway pervades every room. Despite being listed as a four star facility, the decor and the upkeep of the rooms is seriously in need of improvement; I was told that the renovation begins in a month, but I suspect they've been saying that to guests since the early 1990s. In short, this is a hotel that has long since seen its heyday and is desperately trying to stay in business.”

- Convenient to Market Center.
- Casual dining room closed for dinner on Saturday night; formal dining closed for private party, only place to eat was bar and lucky to get seat.
“Very attractive lobby, a bit chilly. It was winter and the storm doors did not seem to keep out the draft. Dining can be limiting, as only one of the 3 dining facilities were open on the Saturday night I stayed. No outside dining options in immediate area, only with a cab ride into downtown areas. Very convenient to Market Center however, can walk if weather is nice. Rooms were pleasant with relatively comfortable beds. Could use a mirror over by desk near window. Only mirror was in bathing area. No fridge or mini bar in room.”

- The Lobby, the staff and the bed.
- Quality of some of the food from room service.
“The staff is what makes this hotel. They go the extra mile for the hotel guest. From the time you arrive in the beautiful lobby to checkout, the porters, room service staff, housekeeping all give you the feeling of being well cared for with all the comforts of home without the headaches of cooking and cleanup. This hotel still needs work with Room Service. The food at times was outstanding. At other times the food would be delivered cold. Some items on the menu were just not good. Its hard to imagine a kitchen that could deliver a steak that was to die for to grits that weren't grits at all.”

- Convenient Location and shuttle service, friendly staff.
- Rooms need renovation, dirty stained tubs, no ice bucket.
“I was only in the hotel briefly, in a hurry, to shower and change clothes before going out. I couldn't find an ice bucket anywhere, so I had to fill up glasses with ice down the hotel to have my cocktails. (I didn't call the front desk since I would be leaving shortly and in the shower most of the time. I did tell them about it when I left and I had an ice bucket the next morning. When I checked out. The bed was very comfortable but the room was rather worn. I would probably rank this hotel a 3-star, maybe 3-1/2.”

- We had an unattractive, dark room that has not yet renovated. Many ugly spots and stains on the room carpet.
“This hotel definitely should not be a 4 star until all of the rooms are renovated. I feel I overpaid a lot for this hotel. Very disappointed (although I would consider that this might be a 4 star property after all of the renovations are done).”

“I was at this hotel for 6 days. The workers at the hotel were slow and lazy. My room was very small and oddly shaped. It was at the end of the building. There was not mini bar, and internet access could not be acquired from this room. I had to go down to the lobby to use my computer. I go to school on line, and had to take a test in the noisy lobby! The business center was usually to busy for me to use. when I complained(everyday) about the lack of internet, they would just stand there with a stupid grin on their faced( all of them) and say they would re set the internet(which never worked). I probably will never stay at a Marriott again.”

- Our room was on the top floor (30) which provided us with beautiful view of the city of Dallas.
- The front desk agents in the morning did not have any information on breakfast served in the hotel, and did offer to call the restaurant until asked.
“The hotel is very nicely decorated, from the hotel lobby to the restaurants and rooms. The bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo) are very nice. We had dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, T-Bones which was excellent. The service was great and the steaks were mouth-watering. The beds were very comfortable and the views of the city at night added a nice romantic touch. Overall, a very good experience at the Renaissance.”

- Housekeeping doesn't have a clue.
“I've already reviewed this property recently. It's a solid 3 star - The Hilton Anatole across the freeway was bigger and the common areas cavernous. To compare, this place is small. On my last 2 visits to this property the AC didn't work properly, and it was August in Dallas. On top of that 2 of the 3 nights there, there was no hot water all night long. One of the nights it didn't come back until about 9:00 am - perhaps a one-time boiler repair but who knows Beware.”

“"Back in the day" this was a great hotel but other chains have passed it up in terms of quality of brand. It needs renovations - updated the rooms. I was also disappointed that I did not have hot water that evening or the next morning. It was a disappointing experience for a 4 star hotel. Not sure I will stay there again - too many other options.”

“I had a 3 night stay. The bathroom was nice sized, but a few of the white towels had yellow stains. The room was large with a good view of Dallas from the 28th floor. The AC worked great. The bath in the first room wreaked like someone had dropped a bottle of cheap cologne. Speaking of housekeeping : 1 day turn-down service, 2 days no turn-down service. 1 day newspaper, 2 days no paper. 2 days coffee for the coffee maker, one day no coffee, 2 days no cream. Room service was slow.Seems like too many people just standing around. Maintenance man with a quizzical look surfing the elevators one day. Super-sized security guards waddled the halls each evening, not sure what they could protect beyond a BigMac.Scrambled eggs made with lard and tasted terrible. Some of the staff had trouble with English. I can't stand to watch the TV in the hotel room anymore with 5.1 HD at home.Antiquated grandmother's house best describes the decor in this sleek granite and glass monolyth. The hotel had a flat panel and updated interior.”

“The Renaissance met my expectations as a three-star hotel. As I mentioned, my only complaint was that there was too little convenient open parking, and both nights I had to park well behind the hotel in a lot where I was slightly concerned about the safety of my vehicle. However, all weekend the valet parking lots up front were half empty...I almost felt like I was being punished by not choosing to pay for valet parking.”

- I have stayed @ this hotel several times. It is a beautiful, convenient (onI-35 main travel artery) and the staff is particularly gracious
- Restaurants are expensive and mediocre/

- The courtesy of the staff was unsurpassed-second to none!
- No way to control the air/heat in the room
“The moment we walked the staff made us feel as if we were the most important people in the hotel. My husband asked if we could have a room as high up as possible, and the staff put us on the 30th (top) floor! I have never had a hotel that would even consider giving us what we were wanting. The concierge was very helpful on two occasions, when driving dirctions were needed.I can't say enough good things about this hotel and their staff.”

- proximity to dining places
“I highly recommend this hotel. It has a great outdoor pool on the 30th floor, an excellent fitness center, friendly staff and great rooms, some with a great view of downtown Dallas. it was very comfortable and a wonderful experience for my wife and me.”
