“Great water park, the water is freezing though. The rooms are not the cleanest but worth it for the fun for the kids.”

• The hotel was clean, the people were friendly and it was in a good location.
• The mattress was hard and the room was humid the pool area smelt so much like chlorine that it made my eyes burn.

“The hotel was in a good location, nearby shopping centers and restaurants. When walking into the hotel I was pleasantly surprised with the homey atmosphere and good decor. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean but the mattress was hard. If we didn't have the air conditioning on the room, got quite humid. The pool area was nice if people had children but what I liked about it was that there was a separate swim time for adults only.”

• Near railroad tracks. Heard the train.

“Perfect for families with little ones. The hotels feature two children's water slides plus a splash island. It was wonderful. The pool itself is 6 inches deep and has many activities for little people. For adults it has a huge double hot tub. The adult and teen water slide and pool was a little small but enjoyable. For parents of little ones this is the place to go! We had a room with a king bed which was extremely comfortable and had a pull out couch. The room was very clean although bathrooms are very tight and small, which as little hard with a little person. In the morning as we got our breakfast and hung around the pool you could not help but notice all the people cleaning. They where actually shampooing the carpets. The hotel even smelled fresh, important to me because I suffer from allergies!”

• It was easily accessible from the highway. The breakfast was nice.
• There wasn't very much parking.

“This was a nice hotel for an overnight stay with young kids. The staff was very friendly and even changed our room from 1 king bed non-smoking to 2 queen bed non-smoking when I called ahead since we were traveling with two young kids.”

• The staff was good.
• It was old, and we were disappointed that no one told us that the waterslide was not on weekdays, as that's the reason we booked the room.

“I was very disappointed with this hotel. I have come to expect a lot more of Holiday Inn. We especially didnt like the fact that we couldn't use the waterslide, as that was the reason that we chose that hotel. I would of appreciated being told that it was only open on weekends before I booked the room I couldn't back out of.”

• The motel room was clean.
• Disappointed with the pool and whirlpool. The whirlpool didn't work.

“Pool was not set up for adults. The whirlpool did not work. The motel was in the process of remodeling. The carpet on the stairs was much worn. I would not stay there again.”

• The hotel was worn and dated.
• When I arrived the hotel was empty and I was located to furthest room with no heat.

“I found the staff friendly, but they lacked common sense, with the room location and also the fact that they had the heat turned down in wing that they put us in, when I expressed our concern they bought us breakfast.”

• Room was not clean found a bunch of shavings of something on the floor. When I asked the hotel manager what it was he replied " looks like dead skin".

• Very family friendly. Kids eat free with paying adults. Watermark area geared toward children and open at convenient times.
• Room was small and cramped feeling. The hotel is old and in serious need of repair which they were doing at the time of our stay.

“Very family oriented. Watermark was great for the kids and open at convenient times. Food was okay and kids ate free. Room was not impressive or very clean. I'm not sure I would stay at this holiday inn again, perhaps after a serious makeover. Staff was very friendly but not as professional as I would have liked to have seen.”

• Pool only 3.5 ft deep, outdated decor.

“We had a very quiet sleep, but there were only 4 other occupied rooms on the floor; if filled, would probably be very noisy with thin walls. The pool area is very nice, and staff was friendly. Although outdated decor and halls/stairs in need of maintenance, the rooms were clean. The location is not prime for shopping however, as it is on the opposite end of town. Lots of TV channels.”

• Very nice room, great food from room service, 2nd stay, will stay monthly.
• Carpet by washer/dryer which is also by pool exit is always wet, & that general area smells mildew.

“I love this hotel. I spend about 7 nights a month on the road, usually three of these are in Grand Forks. I wish I could take this hotel with me ! It's far & away the nicest I have stayed in since relocating out here in July. If you don't want housekeeping, you don't get it. I am afraid to do name my own price next month because I might not get the Holiday Inn ! Prime Rib from the restaurant literally saved me from despair one horrible day last week. Keep up the good work, & I'll keep coming back !”

“If you just want an inexpensive place to stay but will only be at the hotel to sleep at the end of the day the Holiday Inn is fine. The hotel room itself needs a good cleaning and smells of smoke.”

• Fabulous water park for toddlers! Friendly staff.
• Did not offer a continental breakfast.

“This was a great hotel for our young family. The children stayed in our room free, and they received free-meal vouchers for the on-site restaurant. The water park with its multiple slides, shallow pools, and shooting fountains entertained our toddlers for a number of hours. There is no life guard on-duty, so parents should be prepared to get in the water with the children. The hotel offers a check-out time of noon, which gave us a chance to swim and clean-up before leaving in the morning. All-around great place for families.”

• The interior of the room was nicely decorated and of good size. I liked the coffee and fruit in the lobby in the morning.
• The water park is over chlorinated. To the point of having sore eyes.

“For the price we paid it was a very good deal. Check in was very efficient. Hallways and carpets need some TLC.”

• The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean.
• Did not have a complimentary continental breakfast.

“The staff was friendly and accommodating. The motel was located very near the UND campus and was easy to get to. There was plenty of parking near our room. The room was nicely decorated. We were in a non-smoking wing, so smoke smell was not an issue. The room had two queen beds and a chair and was very comfortable and quiet. We received a free newspaper in the morning.”

“The food at the hotel restaurant was tasty and well priced. The children's menu was free. The room felt spacious with a nice view of the pool area. My 2 year old grandson liked that.”

• The water park and pool and game room were a hit!
• Our hotel key didn't seem to work for all of the entrances.

“This hotel was in a great location, the kids loved the pool with the water park and they also loved the games room. My husband and I got to also enjoy the pool and the spa. We also requested a fridge and it was there in no time at all. Thank-you to everyone who made our stay so much fun, look forward to seeing you all again.”

• Carpets needed to be upgraded. A lot of maintenance needs.

• Hallways need updating but room was clean.

“The Holiday Inn in Grand Forks is an older hotel. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. They have recently updated the pool area and kids would love it! The hallways and entrances show the hotel's age. Those areas have not been updated for awhile but overall a nice place to stay.”

“Overall a great experience. The water park is wonderful for small children, however the hotel itself is rather lack luster. I've seen better I've seen worse. All in all a good value for the money, especially if traveling with youngsters.”

• Questions 4 an 5 are marked down because the pool and hot tub were closed temporarily for maintenance.

• The water park was amazing, and the staff treated us well.
• Could have been better cleaned (vacuumed).

“The water park was AMAZING for our little ones. I felt very comfortable there with little kids, very geared to families. The beds were okay, could have been a little more comfy, pillow top would have made them the best. The restaurant was nice, and I love the kids eats free program, always a bonus. All in all, a wonderful stay with family.”

• Because of unforeseen circumstances we only could stay for the day. We were allowed to check in at 10 am by a helpful young lady.
• The water park is not too exciting for kids over 8.

“It was nicely furnished and roomy. The corridors were a little dated and worn. But for hotels in Grand Forks, we could have done a lot worse.”

“While this hotel is not as close to shopping as other hotel in the Grand Forks area, it was clean, has nice modern rooms and most of all it was quiet so I could sleep. It also lacks closeness to many of the nicer restaurants, they are just a short drive away. I would stay at this hotel again. It has a nice new water park area for kids. While I did not use this area, I did look at it and I would like to take my kids there someday.”

• The room was very clean.
• The room smelled musty and the work out room was inconvenient as you had to obtain a key from the front desk. The room key did not work.

“Overall the rooms and the hotel staff were very pleasant. The one thing I found disappointing was the limitation of cable at this hotel. There was cable but it did not get all the cable channnels available in town and at other hotels in the area.”
