• Hotel was clean friendly staff well priced and good location.
• Due to events in the city we stayed in hotel was a bit crowded.

“I like the hotel, great for me and my two young children excellent staff and rooms had enough room and was very well maintained and clean great job by hotel staff would stay there again!”

• Excellent breakfast service. The staff on hand was very helpful and took care of all our needs.

“Our stay at the Travelodge was exceptional. The staff exceeded my expectations. The room we were given was clean and although we didn't use the kitchenette on this trip, future visits would most definitely give us the use of the kitchenette. Our overall experience at the property was excellent. I would like to thank the lady, the attendant in the breakfast area both days that we stayed. She was very attentive and made sure all items were available. Her multitasking during busy periods did not affect her level of friendliness and she made the best Texas size waffle I've ever had. She has it down to an art.”

“My mother in law and my aunts stayed in a room this past week and their stay was very unpleasant. She said the room was very much un-kept, smelled and the bathroom was horrible. There was an issue with the towels as well. There were only enough towels for one night. When my mother in law went down to ask for new towels the staff was rude and told her that she would have to bring the old ones back first. So she brought back the dirty towels and they counted every towel before they would give her clean ones. When they went down to eat the free breakfast the next morning the staff seemed to be watching how much food they were putting on their plate, this made my family very uncomfortable. Overall the staff was rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. My family will not be back to this hotel.”

• The room were not clean and the carpet smelled like mildew.

“The hotel's room was terrible. We will never stay there again. We arrived late in the evening very tired. We checked into room and the shower had hair in it. The lights were deem and the room generally did not look clean, so we asked for another room. We was given room and the shower in this room also had hair in it. The room had a mildew smell either coming from the air conditioning or rug. We complained to the front desk clerk who told us that the cleaning crew went had gone for the day and the manager would be back in the following morning. We went to Wal-Mart to buy our own cleaning products to clean the room and bathroom. We complained to the manager (next day) who told us that the rooms mildew smell may be due to the from the high humidity in South Padre. So she felt that there was nothing else to do but to perhaps have her staff try to clean the carpet. Even after the hotel's attempt to clean the carpet the mildew smell returned later that evening. My mom got a respiratory infection that we strongly believe was caused by the mildew in the room. This was the worst vacation ever.”

• The waffles for breakfast were a special treat.
• The air conditioner could not be regulated and there was no ventilation in the bathroom.

“Overall, I would say that our stay was comfortable. The room was clean and so was the breakfast area. The walk to the beach was flooded and littered with broken glass! The beach was nice and not crowded at all. We could not regulate the air conditioner. It blew constantly if on, and it was too warm with it off. Also, the bathroom had no vent and was very humid. I would say that this hotel was overrated!”

• Very convenient to beach, economical and safe. Just what I was looking for.
• Bed sheets looked like they were designed in the 70's.

“I was looking for an economical place to stay for my daughter and I that was close to the beach and safe. It was just that! A safe in the room, microwave, freezer/fridge, internet, HBO and a table for 4 to have dinner. Great place to stay if youre on a budget like me. Great Value!”

• Shower, toilet, fridge did not work & no parking spaces.

“It smelled like mold, we had a non working fridge, toilet didn't flush, a roach in the restroom (alive) and later found out that we had no hot water. They replaced the fridge, fixed the toilet for the night and told us that the water was fine in some sort of way (the maintenance man didn't speak English very well). The next morning they gave us another room to take showers in. When the shower did finally have warm water, the water pressure was almost none. There was never any parking spaces either. We had to park illegally or somewhere where it was for sure to get hit. Our room was the bigger family room with a sundeck on top. So Friday night, all we heard was chairs moving across the ceiling and our girls had a track meet at 6am the next morning. The people at the front desk were short with me and rude. For future reference, just avoid the Travelodge and stay some where on the south end, closer to everything.”

• It had a private (short) walkway to the beach.
• The beds were too soft and we could not see the ocean.

“The convenience to the beach was excellent. It was too moderately styled for my taste. I should have been more through with my search; it had no restaurant or lounge.”

• The upper deck and it was by the beach.
• The hotel beds and the fact that the key cards didn't work half the time.

“I will not be staying at the Travel Lodge the next time I visit South Padre Island. I didn't enjoy my stay as much as I thought I would. Most of the staff didn't speak English.”

• A little loud on the weekends.

“I stayed here for a week. This is a very ordinary hotel and room. It is nothing fancy. The price is good. Free Wi-Fi and the waffle breakfast are great additions. We bought blueberries and bananas at the grocery store and they let us add them to the waffles.”

• Free energy drinks. Although it was a temporary promotion they dont always offer free energy drinks, we just got lucky.
• The pool was kind of small.

• Were told we had queen beds but didn't. Bed and linens awful!

“We were told we had queen beds but they weren't. The bed linens were old and should have been thrown away. Bath was clean, bath linens were clean. Pool was cleaned each day but the tables were sticky.”

• The microwave and mini fridge came in very handy.
• Dirty feel to the bathroom and shower. The shower head was broken and had very little stream.

“Overall satisfactory and priced about right for the area - desk clerk surprised me, witnessed her handle an angry patron with calming ease and she even remembered which two rooms we were in when we checked out the next day. Impressive for this area.”

• Staff spoke mostly Spanish, beach access poor, etc.

“The hotel is clean and basic. Getting to the beach is like walking the gang plank. If someone is coming from the other direction, you have to turn side ways. It's a fine hotel for a boys trip to the beach, but hardly makes the grade for the entire family.”

• My room had not been cleaned. Not vacuumed. Dirty linens. Dirty sink.

“The day manager's attempt to embarrass me in front of other patrons and her attempt to intimidate me by making it seem as if I were lying about the room's dirtiness was totally unnecessary. I have stayed at this hotel before and had a great experience and I expected the same this time. However, it was not meant to be. I'm hoping this was just an isolated incident and not the norm.”

• The decor was nice outside and the pool area was very pretty. The room was very clean. The towels were nice and thick and plentiful.
• The bedding was very worn and thin.

“Travelodge on Padre Island was very beautiful, especially at night. It is close to the beach and has a private walkway to get there. The staff was friendly and helpful and the desk people spoke good English. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub weren't working for the first couple days after we arrived, but were fixed in time and then were useable.”

• Having a "happy hour" even if we didn't attend. It brought the older longer term guests together and made a social situation.
• For late breakfast attendees, they were often out of some of the food and even coffee.

“Good enough that we made reservations for next year. Very clean, respectful of the guest's timing when housekeeping was needed. Responded to bulb replacement within 1/2 hour. Very nice.”

“My experience at the Travelodge was not that good & was the ultimate deciding factor to cut our losses and leave early. Outside our door smelt of dirty, stale trash. There were molded weenies in our fridge. There was no carpet and the beds were like sleeping on the floor. Not enough pillows (2) & they were flat. The towels were thin & rough and felt like sandpaper. There was no water pressure in the shower. The outdoor Jacuzzi was broke and we were not offered an alternative (such as a bed w/ in-room Jacuzzi). The only good thing about this hotel was the beach access (a few minutes walk away - but the walkway was completely fenced & narrow. Wide enough for a medium-sized person, an outside shower, cold A/C, & wireless internet. If I visit s. Padre again, I will not stay at this hotel.”

• This hotel met our needs. It was clean, near the beach, & housekeeping was great.
• One of the receptionist was not friendly I would have paid extra for a smile.

“We have stayed at other hotels and they were too busy and expensive. They were crowded. The Travelodge was not what I expected. We are planning to stay there again. We're satisfied customers.”

“This hotel was great! It was the best hotel on the island for the price we got. It is beach side, not bay side (a good thing) big rooms, walkway to beach, really a great room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know, and I will definitely stay there on the next trip.”

• The view and the location to the beach were fantastic.
• There is really nothing I can say bad. Sorry.

“The rooms and their facilities were very clean. The rooms were very spacious and their breakfast every morning was exceptional. My hat off to the property owners, if I have any friends going out your way I will definitely recommend them to your services, again thanks for everything.”

• The location to the beach was very accessible.
• We found bugs in the room.

“The hotel was within walking distance of most places of interest, shopping, and beach and I would likely stay again but hope not to have a bug problem again. The front desk offered to move us but that was all they could do since we had already pre paid which I felt was not a good way to handle. We opted not to move if they sprayed and which they did, we really liked the location of the room we stayed at; it was close to the pool.”

• I liked to location to the beach, and the breakfast was okay.
• Bathroom was very old and smelled wet.

“I probably would not stay at this hotel again because it was not what I expected. Room neighbors were loud, until morning hours. Hotel location was good. Staff was friendly.”
