• Great Location to area attractions.
• The sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable.

“Overall we had a great stay. King bed was very comfortable, but sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable. Great location at area shopping, attractions and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful.”

“Nice hotel going down fast. Staff is not knowledgeable about hotel, sent me to wrong parking area which led to a lot of problems. Room has window units, humid, desk is not usable. Grounds were messy, room smelled bad, but was clean.”

• They made room ready, despite the fact there was a convention going on.
• There was a lot of dirty laundry left in the hallways, overnight.

“This hotel was okay for business purposes, as a place to stay. They seemed a little overwhelmed with the square dancing convention and did not get laundry and dirty dishes picked up from the hallways.”

• The clerk was very friendly upon check-in.
• Not a 3 star property - thus overpriced, even for pl. Common areas dated and dirty, especially the carpets. Beds are hard! Bathroom very small.

“This hotel should not be rated and priced as a 3 star. In no way does it compare to a Doubletree or a Marriott. It appears that there have been some attempts at renovation, but the property is still bare bones and dated, inside and out. The carpets were filthy. I was particularly disgusted by the fact that the carpet just outside of our room was covered with debris. It was obvious that the hallways and common areas are not routinely vacuumed. The room itself was clean. There was no visible mold in the bathroom, even though it was very, very small and had no ventilation. The bathroom in our room also had plumbing issues, i.e. The toilet did not want to flush, nor does the sink drain. The beds were rock hard, thus it was very difficult to rest. The furnace/AC looked old and battered. It took many attempts to get the temperature in the room to a bearable level. And finally, the restaurant, which I believe is one of the things that technically qualify this property as a 3 star was extremely overpriced and, to be consistent, the quality of the food was poor. This was a very disappointing experience. The 1 star rating I have seen on this property is warranted.”

• We were expecting something a little nicer given that we picked a 3 star hotel.

“The hotel was not that easy to get to because of all the road construction. I wouldn't rate this hotel 3 stars, it's more like two. The room was good size; however the bathroom was very small. We won't be going back.”

• The price.
• Wall heater w/no thermostat.

“I was surprised that the heating for this room was a stand alone furnace with no thermostat. Either you were very hot or very cold. There is a lot of construction in front of the hotel, making getting around a bit cumbersome also. Definitely not a three star hotel as rated.”

“The person who checked us in was very friendly and polite. The hotel was clean. We didn't sleep well the first night because the pillows were uncomfortable. We ordered pillows from their "pillow menu" requesting medium down and got two more hard as a rock pillows resulting in another restless night. We checked with the front desk to find out what time the restaurant stopped serving dinner and were told 11 p.m. We went to the restaurant to eat only to find out that they stopped serving food at 10pm. We had a car and were able to go off site to have dinner but were very disappointed that we were given incorrect information. Fortunately we didn't have to go to bed hungry but were still disappointed that we had to spend another sleepless night with pillows that were hard as a rock. Because we had a smoking room we were banished to the courtyard where someone pounded on our door at 700 a.m. asking us to call the office because their key wouldn't work in their door. We didn't get to sleep until after 3am and I am sad that their security didn't patrol the lots enough to realize that someone was out there banging on doors. Personally, if it was me, I would have taken the short walk to the office to ask for a new key rather than bang on doors asking other people to call the office on my behalf and get me a new key. How rude!”

• Very clean. A lot of room. Very friendly staff. The restaurant and bar is right there.
• Not the hotel's fault, but the road construction was not fun.

• Location was convenient for interstate highways.
• Housekeeping re folded used face cloths and set them out as clean.

“Hotel is due for a re model and refurbish. Color schemes are very 1980's. Restaurant at the hotel had lousy service. Would not recommend eating there. Food was mediocre and we had to go looking for a hostess and server, going as far as into the kitchen asking if we could please be seated, order now, etc.”

• Location, construction makes is very hard to access.

“This older hotel has construction on two of the three sides of access making it hard to get into and out of the parking lot. There was plaster falling off of the wall near the elevator on the ninth floor. In room 903 there was an area of water damage on the ceiling near the bed. The HVAC was noisy, and needed to be repaired. The bathtub drain was stopped and needs to be repaired. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until the construction is finished, and the hotel is remodeled.”

• The bed was very comfortable.
• I thought the breakfast lacked variety.

“The staffs were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. If there is one downside, the breakfast that was offered gratis only after we had to join the priority club was unimpressive. 3 types of semi-stale cereal, bulk Danishes, and a do-it-yourself waffle kit did not meet expectations. Similar continental breakfasts are served at hotels of lesser quality for free w/out having to join a priority program.”

“We have stayed here before and new what to expect. The staff was friendly, and allowed us to switch to a room with two beds. There is a lot of road construction in the area, but did not cause any real problems for us. The indoor pool was closed for remodeling, and it was too cool for the outdoor pool.”

“Nice hotel. Wife was descent. Very convenient. I was a little concerned when the room they gave us was right off the elevators, but by the way it they constructed the building and layout, never heard a peep. Was a good deal. Maid service was a bit off, but at least I could get what we needed replaced (I just had to ask all the time).”

“This hotel, though clean, was not what I expected. I paid for a 3-star hotel and what I got was more like 1.5 or 2 star motels. I expected a suite and instead was placed in a very small room, along with a large dog and a 16-year-old child. We had one bed. I requested 2 beds and even called to confirm 2 beds. When I checked in they verified 2 beds but we got one king size bed. This experience was not what I expected and my daughter, who has expensive taste, was not please at all. Neither was!”

“Not as nice as most holiday inns I have stayed at, but it met our needs. We have kids and the pool area could use some work. Rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. We waited an hour for extra blankets and had to request them twice.”

• It was a little hard to pull out to go north, but that was because of traffic.

“I worked in hotels for a long period of my life, and the only thing that got me angry, was the housekeeper didn¿t speak English. So you couldn¿t tell her what we needed.”

• Somewhat outdated--wouldn't call it "upscale.".

“We were pleased with this hotel for the price we paid through . Although I would never have classified the hotel as "upscale," it was generally clean and in good condition. It was average in terms of the amenities and fixtures. Pretty much what you would expect for a holiday inn in east Wichita.”

• No room service available, run down, old, staff inexperienced and unprofessional, dingy bathroom.

“The hotel is not bad as long as you regard it as a 2 or 2 1/2 star, definitely not a 3 star, and definitely not in the same class as the other 3 star available in Wichita. Some of the rooms even have an outdoor entrance, so you have to be careful to request the tower and request a new, non smoking room. Didn't like it at all.”

“The hotel is fairly convenient to auto travelers on the Kansas Turnpike. The facilities and decor are excellent and the common areas are well-maintained. Everything appears new and modern, and the rooms and common areas are very clean. Traffic in and out of the parking lot could prove difficult during rush hours.”

• Not a 3-star hotel--was 2 at best, was disappointed.

“We had 2 rooms, one for my Mom & Mother-in-law. Neither can climb stairs. Rooms we got were on 2nd story & no elevators available. Had to go get one on 1st floor. Carpets were Grady. Check in took a long time.”

• Facility is in poor condition.

“Older hotel in need of basic repairs. Second floor walkway to room had crumbling concrete with holes. We had to change rooms because the air conditioning unit in the first room was not working. The toilet in the second room had to be flushed 2 or 3 times and we had to take the lid off the back to flush it at all - this was in the second room. We reported it and they said they would let maintenance know. We stayed two nights but had to call and request fresh towels for the second day. In addition to no clean towels, our room was not straightened and trash not emptied on the second day. ”

• Not 3 star quality. Not even close to being on par with Marriott in Wichita. Old, poorly maintained.

“This is an old property that obviously has seen better days. I stay in the Marriott in Wichita, and it is several levels above this HI Select. The rooms have not been updated in a while (stains on carpet, worn beds, internet connection has cat-5e wire just coming out of the wall w/no labeling. No breakfast buffet - you are forced to eat in what was the bar the night before. I will never stay there again.”

• The hotel was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Great amenities!
• The entryway to the outside level had been used by smokers who left lots of butts that didn't get cleaned up.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed there during their renovations and was pleased with the results 5 years later.”
