• It was perfectly situated between the two places I was visiting.
• The furnishings inside the room were old and torn up (chair, couch, TV).

“Comfortable beds, really neat hotel design with a parking garage and an open air pool in the middle of the hotel with the rooms built around the pool like a wall. Very friendly staff, however, you're charged for the parking and they don't tell you that, plus you have no other options so you have to park there. Also the furnishings inside the rooms are very old and slightly torn up. The couch was hard and old. The chair was torn with stuff hanging out the back. The TV was a really old and small TV, maybe 25".”

• The warm cookie at check-in was nice. Staff at front desk and seen in hallways seemed very friendly.
• Little things showed that it was not kept up, such as old dirty tile and carpets, ill-fitting doors to the garage area.

“I expected a little more from the hotel. It looked like it was not kept up and I wondered about the overall cleanliness. There seemed to be a charge for every little thing, including outgoing local telephone calls. Noise in the hallways and between rooms was very loud. It was ok for a few days and for the lower price.”

• I was impressed with the quality of the hotel and the staff. Great value.
• Having to pay for parking. When you are a guest this should be complimentary. IMO.

“This hotel exceeded my expectations as far as room quality and design goes. I would recommend This hotel for Business and leisure travelers. The room was very clean and the fixtures are up scaled. I would probably stay some where else if you plan on staying more than a few days because the parking is charged daily. Other than that great hotel with excellent amenities.”

• The lobby, pool area, balcony tables were wonderful very relaxing. Really enjoyed the hotel.
• The rooms were a little outdated. The TV volume control did not work. Actually switched first room because of the air conditioner making weird sounds.

“We enjoyed the hotel. The exterior and public areas are really nice. Enjoyed relaxing on the balcony overlooking a really nice patio garden with two small water fall areas. Everyone was very professional and accommodating.”

• I loved how close it was to UT.
• The coplimentary cookies had pecans and I was allergic to pecans.

“This is a convenient, nice place. No real complaints. The exterior and common areas seem a lot nicer than the interior of the rooms, but the rooms are perfectly fine especially for the price. This was my first time to use it and it was great.”

• The room was completely refurnished.
• Other parts of the hotel needed to be refurnished.

“Good location but you have to be careful which room they put you into. Some have been refurnished while others are still old and tired.”

• The lobby was really nice.

“This hotel is in serious need of an overall. The beds looked as though they were 50 years old. The heating system was 1950's technology or earlier and smelled like it was burning. The carpet in the hallways was disgusting. If I'd have dropped something on it. I'd have just left it for fear of what it might pick up.”

• The room smelled, it was loud, the bed was awful, the hotel needs updates!

“My stay at this Double tree was awful. The room smelled so bad I had to open the door. There were party all night despite the fact that there was supposed to be rules against it. The toilet would not flush. The bed was awful! It was not near enough to where I needed to be.”

• Great location, friendly staff, free garage parking, quiet room, decent gym.
• The bathroom needed a good scrubbing, and the Internet connection should be free.

“Quiet hotel just off I-35, easy access to highway, restaurants and shopping. I walked less than 500 feet to grab dinner one night. The staff was very friendly. The atrium is attractive. However, the room air quality was strange, and I couldn't sleep at all. The carpet, bedspread, and bathroom walls all showed some damage, and the tub had mildew issues. Why isn't the Internet connection free? If I came to Austin just to stay at this hotel, I would have been disappointed. But I came for other reasons, and was disappointed only that I couldn't get any sleep at night.”

• There was nothing that we did not like.

• The management staff was eager to help.
• The room was old and the bathroom pipe leaked.

“The hotel is going through renovations. However, the first room I was given was not renovated and in my opinion should not have been assigned to anyone. The room was dark, walls dirty, bed looked worn down, linen old. However, I called management and he was very helpful a locating me another room. This second room was not renovated, but appeared to be a little cleaner. I did find out that night that the pipe in the bathroom had a large leak, but by that time I was just beat down and ready for bed, wet socks and all.”

• Parking garage awkwardly placed for entry.

“Outdoor pool, would have liked an indoor pool. If you pull up to the door to the lobby, you've passed the parking garage. So, if you don't use Valet Parking service, be prepared for an awkward attempt to get back to the entrance or to figure out how to drive around a block or two to circle around and find it. Very nice beds, comfortable room. Friendly and efficient staff for my one night stays.”

• The lobby, the lounge area. The way the rooms backup to the pool area.
• Thin walls, Could hear neighbors in the bathroom. Also, they charge $2 for bottled water.

• Very clean and nice room size for a 3 star type hotel.
• Parking garage access was not first rate. Transition from garage parking to hotel not attractive.

• It was quiet and not full of kids.
• Parking fee, internet fee, 15.00 breakfast buffet that did not include coffee had to ask for room to be serviced, only brought towels. We made the bed.

“We had a comfortable stay at the hotel. It was quiet and accessible. The cookies are great too. We were a little taken back with the $15 breakfast buffet that did not include coffee. A coffee bar in the restaurant was $ 2.00 a cup. Housekeeping skipped our room and we had to call at 5:00 PM in the evening and ask for towels for the next day. We made our own bed. Get ready to pay each day for parking and daily for internet access. The courtyard was lovely and inviting. It is a nice place to stay and I will stay here again in the future.”

“The hotel was a 3 to 3.5 star at one point but the while they have done a good job maintaining the lobby area; the rooms are old and tired and need an upgrade.”

• The Courtyards, Piano's in leisure area, the bar and rooms were very clean.
• The breakfast menu. Thought it was pricey and no senior citizen price. $8 cost to park personal car!

“The hotel was located in a perfect location with walking distance to a couple of nice restaurants. The leisure area had a great view to a beautiful courtyard and pool. There were balconies that one could stand on above courtyard. The sports bar was very nice with a good happy hour. The rooms were very nice and the bath floor had been replaced with 12 x 12 granite. Needs updating with tile around the tub and the vanities were OK. Bed was very comfortable.”

• Extremely comfortable, quiet rooms. Free wireless internet in lobby.
• Lobby could be "fancier" for a 4 star hotel. It's well maintained, but not very pretty.

“After two stays, I have greatly enjoyed the comfort and quietness of the rooms. I've traveled for business, so I haven't used additional facilities. However, the hotel has a gorgeous pool and hot tub. The only thing I would change is the lobby. It's not ugly and it's well maintained, but it doesn't really go with the hotel's architecture and otherwise more luxurious spaces. Friendly staff and excellent service.”

• Loved the bed-it was very comfortable.
• No free wireless in the room/pay to park.

“It was a better than average business class hotel. I hate that there is a charge for wireless internet and that parking is so expensive. The area that hotel is in is not the best part of town but there are many convenient restaurants and I felt safe while in the hotel. Not sure this is a family oriented place but it worked for my business trip.”

“The concierge was very friendly, watched my car while I checked in. The parking garage was a real convenience, much better than a parking lot. An extra 8 dollars to park was a bit of a rude surprise though, the room cost should cover. Architecture interesting, old. Room was large enough, but carpets were very badly in need of replacing and toilet leaked. Marble floors in bath room very nice, furniture nice, bed hard.”

“I've stayed at this Doubletree for going on 16 years. It has been my principle choice of hotel when staying in Austin. The desk clerk admitted that we were given a handicapped room because of this. The clerk was polite, but very abrupt at check in. The room was good, but the bathroom sink did not drain and was too high for a handicapped person (in a wheel chair) to use. Water pressure in the bath/shower was abysmal. 20 minutes to shower since the flow as a trickle. Bottles of water that were complimentary in other rooms were priced at $2 each in this room. I complained the next morning and was moved to a "regular" room that was available without question or hassle. The rest of the stay was excellent. Room was quiet and shower with regular spray head was great. Bottles of water were free! Excellent location for anywhere you need to be in Austin, the access ramps to I-35 or US 183 are very close to the hotel.”

• There was no microwave or refrigerator and the parking fee was a turn-off.

• The location and cleanliness.
• Lights in room (including bathroom) too dim. Bathroom too small. Fabric & leather upholstery torn/ worn looking.

“The hotel was conveniently located and the common areas and courtyard were lovely. Our room was comfortable and clean. In its day I'm sure it seemed quite luxurious with nice fixtures in the rooms and granite counter top in bath. Room did show signs of wear and tear. Leather type chair in room had tears and looked worn. Scuffs on walls and chips in door frames that needed attention. The bathroom lighting was terrible and overall the lighting in the room was inadequate. The $8.00 per day for self-parking was a surprise & a disappointment. Also an extra charge to access wireless internet in room seemed a little much. Free in common areas though.”

• The lock from the parking garage was blocked with duct tape - anybody could get in - not good.

“The room was great. I loved the courtyard and the decor. I wish that they would have had easy check-in instead of having to wait in line at the front desk. Other than the security from the parking garage to the hotel everything was great.”

• My room had an exit at the rear onto the courtyard where the pool & hot tub facilities were located.
• Fire alarm went off false alarm do not know why.

“The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room surpassed my expectations as to comfort, accessibility and features. Nice restaurants in the vicinity, easy access on and off interstate 35. Close to shopping and downtown events. I would recommend this hotel to any traveler.”

• Stayed at the Wyndham prior and this hotel knocked that hotel to the dirt -clean, pretty, more resort like and a much more enjoyable -felt like royalty!
• Can not even do that.

“We came to Austin for business and stayed @ the Wyndham during that trip - Was not impressed then and was even more disappointed after staying at the Doubletree. It was open - well kept, the courtyard with the view of the pool and pretty grounds was great. I would and have already highly recommended this hotel. It was by far one of the best I have had the pleasure of staying in.”

• It was very pleasant & clean.
• I was not told that I would be charged for the parking this should be added to your price.

“When booking, the parking should be included so that one can make the decision if they want to spend $8. 00 more for the parking. That was the only negative thing about the doubletree in Austin, TX.”
