“I have started staying here weekly on business. Very clean, nice and upscale, convenient, ample parking and very friendly staff. The AC and heat both work great, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the location is great.”

• The staff was EXCELLENT in courtesy
• One bartender did not mix good drinks AT ALL, there were several baby roaches in the bathroom

“This is an old hotel with alot of potential that it could measure up to with a few more slight improvements. For the most part, the staff does all they can to provide personalized service, but maintenance, pest control, and some cleaning is lacking. I got the impression that the staff from management on down is trying to do the most with the resources they have, perhaps in the current market basic maintenance is suffering. The service in the restaurant was excellent, but the food was just on the edible side of mediocre, the coffee and hot chocolate were weak.”

• The front desk staff was extremely helpful.

“Initially I was given a smoking room, which I inspected and had to back out immediately. After a short wait, Sherrell at the front desk found another room - non-smoking and on the top floor. I stayed in this room and loved it! The bed was very comfortable. The wireless worked right away and there was a cool massaging shower head.”

• Staff was courteous, expeditious; room was comfortable.
• Fixtures, accessories worn, A/C and running water were loud.

“The Crowne Plaza was nice. There was some wear and tear that spoke to the age of the property, and some noise from the pool, but not to the point of having to change rooms or complain. There was a refrigerator, but no microwave, which would have been helpful. The room service order came very quickly. Overall, a positive experience.”

• Front desk staff was courteous, room was clean, bed was fantastic, no noise problems, no smoke problems, location was good to downtown and east side.
• Toilet was the only unclean problem with the place, the luggage carrier sexually harassed me.

“Overall, quite clean and comfortable. There was not any smoke or noise problems, pool looked nice, and location was good for me in order to get to east side,university campus, and downtown easily. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.”

• Rooms were nice and location convenient to where we needed to be.
• Staff was not helpful or friendly. More than one negative experience. May have been due to the holiday work schedule.

• The food was priced better than some hotels.
• Room service woke us up hour earlier than stated on form. Sent food back. When it returned I think it was the same food.

“Nice hotel. Clean. Nice beds. Security problem with the parking. Restaurant is not associated with hotel so if you have a problem you have to bring it up with the restaurant. People were very nice. Excellent bell man.”

• No remote for TV in fitness room.

“I was very pleased with this hotel. The customer service was excellent. The staff was so kind, helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and were pleased. Our CD player did not work we called the front desk and within minutes the maint. Man was there with a new CD player. I would stay here again.”

• The room was by the elevator shaft, a little noisy.

“Outside of the room being located by the elevator shaft, It was roomy and nice. The lobby and restaurant area was very appealing, many business travelers.”

• The room was large with a good size desk, comfortable chair with footstool.

“As a business traveler, Im getting tired of my old favorites - Hampton Inns & Holiday Inn Express. Its' great having a restaurant right in the hotel for room service and breakfast. Great breakfast buffet including made-to-order omelets and fresh orange juice.”

“For the bathroom, the soap dish in the shower had not been cleaned when we arrived and was never cleaned while we were there. The sink was cracked. Even though there were two of us, they did not leave enough wash cloths and hand towels. We probably would not stay there again.”

• This was a bad experience.
• We did not get for the price, and it was poor customer service.

“The room was missing the hair dryer, we had to call the front desk twice to bring one up to the room and mount it on the wall. When we called the front desk on our first night there to ask about the Double bed versus king bed, we were told the hotel was full, too bad, we don't get another room. My wife and I are both large people and the double bed was very uncomfortable. Saturday morning we double checked with the front desk. They said it was all a mistake, and they would take care of it for our 2nd night stay, don't worry about it.”

• The location was great, and the room was nice.
• Poor communication among staff and shift managers.

“At 3 a.m. on the first night, we received a knock on the door and a phone call from the manager as part of a room check, because the system didn't show anyone had been checked in to our room. Later, at a more decent hour, another manager called to make sure our "room switch" had gone well the day before. No such switch had occurred. Later that same day, our room key didn't work. The manager on that shift apologized for all the problems we'd experienced. I definitely won't select the same star level for that part of the city again in order to avoid this hotel.”

• They locked me out of my room on my second night there.

“Excellent location, quiet rooms, (I was even next to the elevator), well laid out-my first night there, there was a very large wedding reception and it did not interfere with the hotel guests. Negative: each time (3 times) I have stayed here, I have been locked out of my room on the second night, had to go get a new key. You would think I would remember to go by the desk on each night after the first to get a new key-but, I always forget, arrive at my door, loaded down with packages, have to go back downstairs to get another key!”

• The size of the bed.
• The birds during the night. Very loud. Hotel provided ear plugs.

“Bird noise was real bad. Have to be a local to be use to it. Never been in a jungle, but this has to be as close to one noise wise as possible. Could have stayed at a different hotel and been happier.”

“The carpet was brand new and well kept. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. The front desk called and asked if everything was ok. I thought that was a nice gesture.”

• Hotel staff is one of the best in Austin.
• I got a small cramped room.

“The access to this hotel is a bit tricky but the location is wonderful. The hotel is a bit older but the staff was extremely helpful and tried to make your stay the best possible. Watch out for the rooms on the end they are cramped.”

“I had dinner in one of the hotels restaurants. In the morning I got a charge slip under my door stating my dinner was charged to my room. I was charged twice for dinner, as I did not authorize the waitress to charge my room. An unnecessary hassle to deal with in the morning when I needed to leave for a business meeting.”

• The soda machine and restaurant menu prices were great. The steak was cooked as I ordered it.
• They don't offer a wide enough variety of TV channels. The charges for room service (not menu prices) were too high.

“The hotel location was excellent, right next door to the fabulous Pappadeauxs restaurant. Breakfast from the hotel restaurant was delicious. TV channels--a bunch of news and sports, not much for the movie viewer.”

• First night my room smelled like socks left in a football locker over the weekend.

“The hotel did not meet the three star levels. My room stunk like dirty socks and the noise level from the freeway below kept me from sleeping half the night. The room was small and the bathroom almost too small to turn around in. The shower/tub was extremely slippery with no slip resistant pads. The hotel did provide however good shampoo/lotion/conditioner, hairdryer and iron. The bed and linens appeared to be clean, also while not a 3 star it wasn't a 1 star either.”
