• It is convenient to the Capitol. The gift shop guy was most helpful. The self-playing piano in the lobby was cool.
• The self-playing piano played only Beatles songs.

• It was very comfortable and the staff was superb.
• It's in kind of an iffy area.

“I highly recommend this hotel, it was extremely comfortable and luxurious. The beds were great, as was the rest of the room. While they were undergoing renovations, it was hardly noticeable.”

• The whole time we were treated very poorly.

“The bathroom backed up within the first fifteen minutes of arrival. Also during our stay, we asked the front desk to bring us additional towels for the morning we were departing from the hotel and did not receive them. After my girlfriend and I came from a four star restaurant, dressed appropriately and ready to celebrate my birthday, we sat at the hotel's bar and asked for a drink. They took our order and never returned back with our drinks, intentionally ignoring us. I went to the front desk and explained the situation and was apologized to for the inconvenience. We will not go back to the hotel. My partner and I shall not be pawned off with drink coupons and a cheese and wine platter for our inconvenience.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times of our stay.
• I loved everything about this hotel.

“This hotel was a great location downtown, I could walk to almost everywhere I needed to go, and a cab was ready and waiting within seconds if I needed one. The valet and front staff were so helpful and nice. The rooms were very clean.”

• Wasn't close enough to central downtown where my family and friends stayed at other hotels.

• Staff friendly especially younger maint man.
• Inside pool closed.

“Very comfortable for the price, nice rooms, very friendly staff especially one maint guy that told us just about everything Austin has to offer. Even the garage was safe, left items in back of truck, were still there over night. Do not suggest! But very happy! Would definitely stay again.”

• The hotel is in a crime ridden area, under construction with many amenities. The parking garage and stairs closed - jumped a wall to exit!
• Too much construction caused inconveniences in parking, and the amenities! Terrible.

“Terrible! I had sent an e-mail to customer service in advance of this survey. If they are doing construction that affects the garage, bar, amenities (pool, Jacuzzi) and reception area they should have closed the hotel. There was too much disruption. Also the rooms looked cheap and definitely were not 4 start (more like economy).”

• The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
• The indoor pool area was closed for remodeling. Outdoor pool was open but not easily accessible.

“Good location, clean rooms, hot water in shower was great, and bed is comfortable. The only draw back was they are in the process of remodeling their pool area, so swimming was not available.”

• I liked the comfort of the room and flat screen TV and the friendliness of the front desk staff.
• The location was a bit off the main attractions such as 6th Street.

“The hotel is located a few blocks from The Capitol which was very convenient. I am a business traveler so the hotel felt the same as the plush hotels that I am used to visiting. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom clean and in good condition. I would certainly stay there again.”

• Good Location to UT and 6th Street - walking distance.
• I don't like paying to park, but I know you have to.

“Very nice and clean. We were given a handicap room, because it was full. The room was actually very roomy, but close to the elevator and it was noisy at night. But then it was graduation weekend at UT, so everyone was partying! They overcharged me about $58 for parking, but I brought it to their attention and they fixed it right away. Great dirty martinis in their lounge! They even let us hold a small champagne party for my girl's graduation - only 6 of us, and it was only for about 30 minutes. But very accommodating for us.”

“The location was okay. It is Downtown, but you have to walk down a slightly seedy few blocks to get anywhere, It might not be good for a single woman at night, but it was fine for us. On the other hand it is very near Stubbs BBQ and a couple of music clubs, so I guess it depends what you're looking for.”

• The room was modern, clean, and comfortable. The concierge is wonderful.
• They didn't have a place to get a quick sandwich.

“The property has been updated and the staff was wonderful-from the restaurant to the front door. The concierge was fabulous and very interactive with guests. I would go back just to see him, he was so helpful. I was traveling alone and he was great, Joe. Its located near many restaurants and an easy walk to 6th Street.”

• The bed was very comfortable, everything very clean.
• Can't think of anything we didn't like.

“We were only there for one night but the room was very comfortable - bed, bathroom, etc. Nice reading material in the rooms - local Austin restaurant and music magazines. We liked the fact that we were able to park on the street directly across from the hotel and not pay hotel parking - a very safe neighborhood.”

• There was an issue with a personal item in my room being broken while I was away. They did not handle as professionally as they could have.

“I like the Sheraton. I would stay there again. It's in a great location and the rooms are comfortable. Gym is larger than most and pool facilities are clean and inside and out.”

• Hotel somewhat isolated, borderline dicey neighborhood.

“Enjoyed our stay, the staff was very attentive and friendly, the lobby was very nice, they were doing some remodeling but the work was not intrusive. The neighborhood is not the best. It is immediately adjacent to the freeway, and though it is in Downtown Austin, it is several blocks to any attractions/restaurants, and the area surrounding the hotel is not the best neighborhood, so I drove rather than walked to locales to which I would have rather hoofed-it.”

“Good hotel, the proximity to 6th street and campus is good, but to walk to 6th street had to walk through some sketchy neighborhoods for 5 blocks. The hotel itself was nice, they allowed us to check in early and check out late.”

• Interior of room was not well cleaned by housekeeping staff; windows were very dirty, hotel under construction and coffee bar/ shop always closed.

“Hotel is in a good location but it appeared other travelers knew about construction and stayed away as did hotel staff! Hotel lobby was very empty and coffee bar/ shop, despite posted hours stating it was open, and was almost always closed. Restaurant appeared closed as well but with no guests perhaps staff opted to take extended breaks. Plastic sheeting was hanging in the lobby - all in all it seem like the hotel was, or should have been, closed. With few rooms to clean, it seems staff could have done a better job cleaning the room; they didn't replace dirty glasses, left pillows on the floor and bed covers rumpled. Windows in room and public areas were very dirty, I presume they were waiting for construction to conclude before cleaning but made for an unpleasant stay.”

• There is remodeling going on but it did not interfere with our stay.

• Valet Parking was $20.95 per night. That's too much for this hotel.

“The Sheraton's rooms are quiet and well appointed with plenty of high quality pillows. The business traveler will not be disappointed. Additionally it's a short walk to Sixth Street or the convention center. Watch out for valet parking - it cost $20.95 per day during my recent four night stay - this is too much.”

• I loved how close it was to the Frank Erwin Center and the easy access.
• This is really picky, but the windows could use a cleaning on the outside - could see out just pretty dirty.

“I wanted a hotel close to the Frank Erwin Center where I could keep the car and my husband and kids could walk to the basketball games. It was close and we could meet at Serrano's for lunch. Everyone was friendly and helpful at the hotel - I nearly felt like I was on a cruise again!”

• The bed was perfect--very comfortable mattress and soft and high quality sheets.
• The self parking of $16.40 per day seemed excessive and should have been clearly cited on their web page.

“The rooms are updated and quite nice. We had a view of the capital building and the Texas tower, and no noise from IH 35. Pretty clean, even for me (I am squeamish about hotel rooms). The lobby is substantial and impressive, and every staff person was incredibly helpful and friendly. It is a bit off from Congress, but a cab ride is only $5 or so, and it is walk able to 6th street or Congress. The self parking fee of $16.40 is the only complaint I had, but that does include in and out privileges and the garage is convenient to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Having to pay extra for internet access and parking.

“The other high end places I stay do not charge for guest parking, and internet. In the end, it was a lot more expensive to stay here versus other places which appear more expensive because all amenities are inclusive. I hate being nickel and dime.”

• My wife said the bathroom was too small.

“I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is traveling or there just for the weekend. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return for further stays.”

• The staff was wonderful.
• The walls were not soundproofed & we could hear everything from adjacent room.

“The staff was friendly and courteous and helpful. The food was delicious. Everything was clean and attractive. THE ONLY THING was we could hear everything from the room next door & didn't sleep well. Which unfortunately, colors our whole view of the hotel.”
