• Great atmosphere and a wonderful staff.
• The thermostat in the room did not control the room adequately. Consistently 2 degrees or more below setting.

“Wonderful hotel, atmosphere was wonderful. The parking was kind of tricky with not a lot of space and sharp corners. The location of this hotel is perfect. Right off 6th street where I had a lot of fun.”

• The hotel front desk staff was rude and seemed inexperienced.

• It is convienent to everything downtown Austin.
• Parking is expensive.

• The room was spacious, quiet, clean and was
  big. Very nice.
• Check in line was long, had only 2 clerks avail. Had to pay for wireless internet, most lower level hotels this is free.

“I had reserved this hotel (4 star) for August 14 and 15. I called at around 9pm to advise I was checking in late. When I arrived around 11:30pm, the hotel was overbooked, and they sent me to the Embassy Suites. They advised I could stay there for one night or both. I opted to come back to the Hilton because it had an outdoor pool.
Everyone was very nice, but the Embassy Suites was not has 4 star-ish as the Hilton.”

• So convenient to downtown and great for girls weekend away!
• The only complaint was parking charges too high.

“Have stayed here before on girls weekend away and also mother daughter weekend. It is very clean and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. I just wish parking was not so expensive. Other than this with great place to stay.”

• We love the hotel and appearance, the people were not very likable.
• The resident that lived there seemed to be put out with the guests of the hotel.

• Car valet took way too long. Car valet made care smell.

“The Austin Hilton is ideally located in the heart of downtown. The rooms and hotel were nice. My only criticism was the valet parking. It took way too long, even when the valets were not busy. One valet had serious body odor and made my car and subsequently my clothing stink from the few minutes he drove the car.”

“Good, but be aware that many guests stay here due to it's location near 6th avenue and the convention center. You are likely to encounter drunken guests and loud hall talkers at all hours of the night on weekends.”

• Excellent location with a quiet room that was nicely done.
• The shower made a very loud noise when turned to the hottest temperature consistently - pipe problem.

“Upscale hotel in the downtown Austin area that is walking distance to everything - 6th Street, the Warehouse district, town lake. Even though it was close to the action, it was still really quiet inside when you wanted to relax. Very nice room with a view. Great coffee shop downstairs that was easy to get in and out of. My only complaint was the parking cost - $16/night. It seems a bit steep for Austin and for the fact that I was a guest at the hotel and not just someone hanging out in the area for a couple of hours. Overall I would have stay here again definitely.”

• Liked the room, facilities were clean and mostly neat.
• Staff members we encountered were very unfriendly.

“Nice place, disappointed however in the attitude of the bell staff, staff working around and near the spa and pool entrance. You have to treat customers as customers, these people were extremely unfriendly.”

• The carpet in room looked like it was from the 70's.

“The staff were the only thing I liked here. The location is near nightly loud live music but the building won't keep out the noise. Small bathrooms, cant get into the tub without touching the toilet bowl. The water from the faucet tasted terrible. And am I wrong here? to pay for wireless.”

• Excellent location. Staff went above and beyond to meet expectations.
• Long waits at elevator but there was a convention at the hotel.

“Hilton Downtown Austin is a very attractive hotel in a fantastic location. The staff was attentive and friendly. My husband had roses and balloons sent to the room. The staff went above and beyond by personally signing a birthday card to me, someone they have never met! It was very kind.”

• Referred maintenance in bathroom - bathroom not up to mark.

“Friendly staff and well appointed rooms and public areas. Loved the lobby coffee shop every morning and the comfy sofas in the lobby bar in the evenings. The calamari ordered in the bar is outstanding and perfect to share over a drink with friends!”

“This hotel is very centric, walking distance from clubs, bars, and great restaurants in downtown Austin. The common areas are luxurious and well kept. Rooms are decent and clean.”

• Great location.
• Shower was ridiculous. Knocked so loud you could not hear the TV if you were in the room.

“Beautiful hotel in a great location. Had shuttle service to the UT game - definite plus! Need plumbing assistance our shower knocked, as did others that we could hear as we walked down the corridor. Sounded like air in the pipes the whole time we were there.”

“If you are going to Austin to go to a football game or to hang out on 6th Street, this is the hotel for you! Very close to all the downtown Austin Action. You won't even have to take a cab. Highly recommended!”

• The staff was less then inviting, and they gave up wrong directions twice.

• The employees were very friendly. Good fitness center.
• Homeless person asked for me money in the lobby men's room.

“The hotel is clean and friendly staff, enthusiastic employees. The fitness center has all new cardio equipment as well as a good variety of free weights. Easy walking to the action on 4th and 6th streets. Car valet service was prompt and efficient and taxis quickly arrived. Recommend if visiting UT student and they want to show you 6th street - no driving!”

• I loved our corner, spacious room. I loved the large, open lobby.
• Not enough light to get ready by. The light in the bathroom was very dull.

• The location was top notch.
• Internet was not free.

“For anybody looking to stay in downtown Austin, this Hilton was in a great location and within walking distance to most attractions. We had a north facing room and the nighttime view was spectacular. This is a Hilton so they will try and nickel/dime you, but there was nothing we needed that was of any charge (for a longer stay, being charged for internet would have been annoying though). If you stay on the weekend and are able to check in before 7, there is lots of free parking on the street.”

• Only the over all look of the hotel, bed was comfy also.
• High price for parking with no other options.

“Average at best. Parking was 16 dollars a night with no options nearby. Clean with a comfortable bed. Kings are always unavailable here as well, go figure. 3 star at best.”
