• Free parking and close to the high way (so I can escape it easily!).
• Dirty, old, unprofessional staff.

“This hotel seems nice from the distance, since it is next to a river and has a tall building. However, when you walk inside the hotel, you can tell that it is below 2 star quality. The rooms are full of old furniture and lack some necessary items. Another weird thing that bothered me in that hotel is that the attitude of the staff. I wanted to check out little late (at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon) and so I talked to the reception desk. The person whom I asked if I could do late check out, tried to negotiate with me about paying her half of the room cost. I had never heard anything like that and I felt that she was trying to take advantage of me. If they had the availability, isn't it a courtesy that they may let you check out an hour late? Obviously, they had availability but she was looking for extra money and told me that it is not possible unless I pay her. Watch your money and do go somewhere else. For 20 or 30 dollars less, this hotel is definitely not worth it for anything!”

• Fantastic view of the lake.
• A bit awkward to enter and exit.

“My room overlooking the lake was a wonderful room for both amenities and the view. I did not utilize the restaurant or pool. However, there are two towers - one overlooking the lake and one the interstate.”

• The hotel has a "tower" section that is very cool. It's on a lake downtown.
• It's on an access road and a little hard to get to from I-35 north.

“Great hotel for the price, Location is close to downtown. Next to a lakefront downtown. Has a standard restaurant and a sports bar, but the sports bar is pretty small. The room was big and comfortable. Very clean. The tower part of the hotel has great view of either downtown or the lakefront.”

“Not that great. Linens on the beds were of poor quality. I had to switch rooms because the air conditioner didn't work and there were problems with the TV. The new room only had one phone so I couldn't use my computer at the desk.”

“well, the shower curtain smelled like smoke and this kinda creeped me out. i liked the view, but there was a shortage of towels. in the end, i would not book my wedding reception there, but i would have a long distance rendevous in one of the rooms”

• It has a beautiful view of Austin as well as a view of people canoeing. The pool is on a higher floor so it makes the experience more fun.
• There is an odor in the hallway as well as a different odor in the rooms. Constantly trash never picked up from room service in the hall.

“Staff is super friendly, the location is great, however the odor in the hallways made it quite uncomfortable. There were also ants and bugs in the rooms. The hallway constantly had trash that was never picked up in front of many rooms. This is the only hotel out of maybe 10 that I did not enjoy.”

“A little inconvenient to get to and from once you are in Austin--in part because of the much overcrowed Interstate Highway next to it necessitating use of alternate streets. Hotel was not particularly "special." But was perfectly okay in terms of friendly and competent folks running it and in terms of clean and well up-kept rooms.”

“We were disturbed several times in the night, first by drunk neighbors, then by the hotel staff claiming the need to check our fire detector to make sure it was working. The walls are paper-thin and you can hear everything that is going on in the 3 rooms adjacent on either side of you. It is horrible.”

• I asked to change rooms because of smokiness, they did with no problems. nice people
• the door to my room needed painting, the bedspread had a hole in it

“I'm sure this was a great hotel when it was built. It was very convenient to the areas I needed to go to (UT). The staff was friendly. I liked the free parking and free wireless internet service. The room was a little rundown, but the lobby was nice.”

• Convenient to convention area; having a refrigerator was nice.
• Shuttle service did not drop off at location close to convention area. Hard beds, noisy next to I35.

“Good location & helpful staff. If you are fortunate enough to get a room with a river view, it's a plus. The rooms closest to I-35 are noisy, but bringing a fan or air machine helps mask the outside racket.”

• The staff was excellent; friendly, knowledgeable, and patient.
• The hotel needs updating; the hallways are dim, dingy, and aging.

“The location is wonderful; there is easy access to I-35 and downtown. The rooms are nice, though old. A fresh coat of paint and different lighting would improve the decor, particularly in the hallways. The staff at the front desk were especially nice, and I took time to tell them that when I checked out. We travel a great deal, so I can say that with some experience. The breakfast was good. I would probably stay there again.”

• great location--easy access to all of Austin and right on Town Lake running trail
• the room was really small, no separate door for entry to the bathroom

“This hotel is great for someone willing to give up luxury for convenience. The rooms were really small and cramped, and the fitness area was under renovations. The pool, though plain, overlooks Town Lake and offers a great view. The staff was friendly-- sent me a birthday basket! Great location-- easy driving to all of Austin, and right on Town Lake Trail for runners/bikers”

• the layout of the room was especially nice
• the pool closes at 11 PM (which might be typical)

“Everything about the hotel either met or surpassed my expectations. One bad thing about it is a consequence of the Austin, TX road-naming scheme. The hotel was off the feeder of I-35 South, but the address of the hotel was 20 I-35 North, which I found confusing. The pool closes at 11 PM, which is probably standard, but it would have been nice if they had closed later. The layout of the room was very nice. The air conditioning control was nice -- instead of messing with levels of fan speed and levels of coolness, one just selects the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. I selected 70, if I'm not mistaken. Overall, a very nice hotel-stay.”

• I requested and received a room with a lake view.
• The hotel was situated just a few blocks from downtown, but was in a location where I felt unsafe walking there in the evening.

“An older hotel, but the friendly staff made up for the lack of ambiance. I would stay there again (if I had a car to drive downtown during the evening).”

“I stayed here last year also. The lake is such a nice place to stay. The walking trail serves as a break from the hustle of a city and a great means of getting downtown. Free internet access and fitness center are two amenities that I need.”

“The hotel itself seems decent, but I did not stay there and lost the entire cost of my reservation. I do not consider this hotel to be downtown -- it is on (almost IN) the freeway.”

“This is an good hotel. The location is great. Beuatiful view of Town Lake and right off I-35 so very convenient. Hotel is nothing special. Plain sinple rooms, but clean. Online Guide says the hotle has a spa and hottub but was not available during our stay. The hotel pool is okay, but the pool furniture was in need of repair. The pool is outside on the sixth floor but right next to the interstate, so the noise from the freeway is not very relaxing. ”

• easy to find off of I 35
• too few front desk staff to take care of customers, both in line and on the phone

“The hotel is very easy to find and is near the UT campus. It is also located on Town Lake, which has a nice walking/jogging path. Although this hotel boasts a sauna, it was not operational and had been marked off of the elevator information. Parking is easy and free in the garage.”

• The shuttle service went out of their way to accomodate us.

“The location and ammenities for this hotel were well worth the price. However the room itself was poorly lit and the AC/heat took some time to get to a comfortable temp. Hotel staff was excellent--shuttle service was top notch!”

• heating and cooling system and TV did not work well

“Hotel is conveniently located close to Austin attractions. Hotel staff and manager were very friendly and quick to offer assistance. Hotel was comfortable but if you like to sleep comfortable. I'd recommend you check your heating/air-conditioning system. Ours was out and of course could not sleep well at night due to the heat and humidity. Assistance was offered but nothing was done to fix the problem. If you like to relax while watching a little TV. This is not the place to do it. TV had no reception and did not carry all the channels it advertised. But overall, if you're there to just be out and about and not hang out in your room. This is the place to do it.”
