“Considering the price, when I expected the coffee pot to be clean and to be supplied with basic amenities. It took them 30 minutes to get the supplies to my room. However, when I needed a comb, they sent one up promptly.”

- Beautiful room and lobby, excellent service and staff, and fantastic location, in the heart of Downtown Austin.
- Watch for traffic if the valet is backed up - DNC convention this weekend caused back ups in all major services.
“My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Our room was a respite from our hectic weekend filled with events for my brother's wedding. We were located in the heart of beautiful Austin, within walking distance of the nightlife (and Starbuck's.) The capital and the State History Museum is just a short drive away.”

“The valet broke my car seat. They were not able to fix it or arrange fixing it so I had to find tools to fix myself. The manager of the valet became very unresponsive as the day went on. To this day, I have not received any calls as to how the situation was going to be handled. The hotel was very clean, but my over experience was poor due to extremely bad customer service.”

- They had an endless supply of apples in the lobby.
- Parking was $25.00/day. There was no street parking.

- Hotel was in the middle of town, close to hotspots.
- Accessibility.
“When I arrived the first night, the accessibility to the hotel is confusing and difficult. There weren't any lights showing a sign for the hotel, nor were there any lights to show parking or valet. There was only 1 valet person parking the cars, so check-in took almost 30 minutes, and after arriving around 11:00 at night, I was certainly too tired and not in the mood to deal with it all. The staff was nice, but certainly not friendly. The front desk staff were kind, but were very stoic and almost expressionless. The valet were very helpful in helping you locate somewhere you'd like to go or give directions. The room was a little small for 2 people, but very extravagant and charming. Definitely a room for couples, as it was almost romantic. The crowd noise from 6th street (2 blocks away) was not an issue. Bring extra cash to pay for valet. Upon check-out, I found out it was $22 a night, which no one explained to me. I certainly wouldn't think to charge customers, especially if this is the only option their guests have.”

- My room was upgraded to a larger room without asking.
- Coffee service didn't include creamer. They did bring quickly when requested.
“An excellent hotel right in the middle of all the Austin hustle and bustle. Great friendly staff. However, although the valet parking provides for in-out facility, the front office did not know about it. The valet person scared us by saying that no such in-out facility was available and a stay of more than 30 minutes would cost us $12. They later rectified it. At check out, our car was loaded with some one else's luggage including shopping bags. Fortunately, we discovered it before driving it away. Apparently our car was mistaken with others but shouldn't they have checked the tag number? Let these issues not sound discouraging. This truly is a great hotel. Great locations and friendly staff.”

- The food and restaurant is tops.
- Valet parking was a nightmare. Staff totally overwhelmed.
“I have stayed in this hotel many times. It is located very close to 6th street. Because of this, every weekend night you have major hall noise and door slamming between 2 and 4am. I wish they would put a sign up at the elevators requesting that guests be quiet when returning to rooms late at night. The bell/valet staff was also totally overwhelmed during my stay.”

- Housekeeping did not clean or refresh my coffee in my room two days in a row.
“I love this hotel and have stayed here many times. This is the first time that I have not been satisfied with the housekeeping staff in cleaning my room. It was not a big thing but when I left the coffee pot out on the desk etc, it was still not put back in the cabinet and no new coffee was replaced. Other than that, it was a fantastic trip as usual.”

“Very friendly staff and an excellent location contributed to a very nice stay at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin. Travelers beware of the very expensive Roaring Fork restaurant in the lobby. The cheapest steak on the menu will run you over $30 and is a la cart. That means you have to pay at least $7 a piece if you want anything other than an overcooked piece of meat for dinner. The service, including the Roaring Fork, was excellent.”

- For a 4-star hotel, the rooms were a little small.
“Overall, this hotel is pretty nice. It's a great location. Parking is non-existent, so be prepared to get gouged on parking, but if you park it overnight, you can walk anywhere you want to get. The room was small-ish for the price, but I'm sure the premium is for the location as opposed to the size. All in all, I would stay here again.”

- Location was great. The meeting room was terrific.
- The chair in my room was torn. Limited exercise equipment. The elliptical (or what looked like an elliptical) was broken (no sign on it).
“We did not get much attention for our meeting room for food service. Everything was ready when we got there, but we had to call to get it cleaned up and for them to serve the snacks that were prearranged. I expected better.”

- We needed a room with double beds they didn't have this and then charged us 59. to get a Jr. suite to get a king bed and a roll away.
“The rooms are very small. We needed a king bed and a roll away in one of the rooms, but to get that, we had to upgrade to a jr. suite for an extra 59. which we were not happy about. They said there were no rooms with two double beds. Since there were 3 adults, we had to upgrade. The per night charge to keep the car was a bit much we had two vehicles they charged extra for the SUV which seemed a bit much.”

- Took a long time (30 minutes) to get vehicle from valet.
“Great atmosphere and accommodations. First moved into a queen room, but being a tall guy, requested a king and was accommodated very quickly and courteously. 2nd floor lounge is very nice and the balcony provides a great view of the Downtown activities. Many great places to eat very close to hotel and the 6th St. and Warehouse district is very close. I will stay there again.”

“Great location, however not as easy as other hotels getting in and out of hotel. No self parking, valet slow. The rooms can be very small, only 1 queen bed, have to pay to upgrade to king or double beds if they have available. The furnishings old and the rooms smell musty sometimes. My least favorite 4 star hotel in downtown Austin. Much prefer the Hilton, Omni or Hyatt.”

- Austin marathon finishes literally at the front door-yah!
- Had to pay an extra fee of $29.00 to have two full size beds.
“Outstanding location, attractive, modern, clean, and up to date and the front door was literally the finishing line for the 2008 Austin marathon.”

- Vanity mirror and seat was nice.
- Parking expensive - Breakfast expensive and not worth it at all.
“This hotel would be better suited for business travelers because of its location (close to the Capital). This is not the best hotel to stay in for leisure travel. The parking was very expensive - I own a Suburban and was charged twice the amount you would normally be charged to park my truck. The breakfast buffet was very pricey and it was nothing special. I would have preferred to go to IHOP!”

- Bellman were helpful and friendly.
- Elevators worked on and off. Check-in assistance was not to standard.

- I liked the historical attributes of the hotel in it's decor, location, and architecture.
- Room was small and had a view of the roof and parking lot.
“The hotel was in a great location, in Austin. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I loved the historic qualities of the decor and architecture. The spa area was very inviting and massage therapy was awesome. The restaurant is pricey, but a great ambiance and good place to dine. The rooms were small but were in keeping with the age of the hotel. I thought it a romantic hotel, but I don't think a family with kids would like the size of the rooms.”
