• Great location with very nice and spacious rooms.
• It was a bit hard to get to the hotel because the streets around it were one way and the parking options were limited.

“I was very pleased with the hotel and the location was excellent for my purposes. The room was quite nice and very spacious. The staff was very nice as well. The only slight issue was the parking. The valet was not always available and the parking garage access was very tight to get into.”

• All Suite hotels that accommodated my request for 2 beds.
• Room decor was somewhat dated and the TV was less than stellar.

“Good hotel for the money, good location close to nightlife, university and capital. All rooms are suites, and most have a balcony. Decor was dated and couch uncomfortable. But beds were pretty great. Full kitchen.”

• The size of our suite exceeded our expectations.

“The location of the hotel can't be beat. The suites are sizable and offer all the amenities necessary for a week or a weekend trip. The cost of parking could be a bit more reasonable.”

• It had a nice pool, but only 3 ft. deep! Boys enjoyed workout room. Liked the location.
• Our room was dirty and the hotel bathrooms were not usable!

“We complained to hotel about our room dirtiness and the hole in our bedroom door, they did nothing about the room nor did they say sorry. We use a nebulizer machine for my sons asthma and stuck onto of a desk full of dust! The kitchen had not been cleaned prior to our stay nor during it!”

• Amazing amount of space and amenities for the price.
• No free wireless internet.

“A really great overall experience. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a warm chocolate chip cookie waiting for us at check-in and it was in a great location to the best parts of downtown Austin. The suite we stayed in was huge (common room, kitchen, great views), especially for the price. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.”

• Fresh gourmet cookies at check-in, friendliness, in room amenities, location.
• Left some trash and dirty mug when cleaning, room key did not work.

“Overall we were very pleased, but housekeeping can be more careful when cleaning room. Our room key did not work the second day and we couldn't get in into the garage and our room. However, it was quickly resolved. Very friendly and helpful staff.”

• It was roomy and the bed was comfy.
• There was construction outside our hotel door and it was dirty and hazardous.

“I was very upset to see that there was construction outside our hotel door. It was dangerous and we tripped over it a few time while coming and going. The parking garage was very tight and hard to get through in the truck we were in. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very spacious. I liked how roomy it all was.”

• No shows from staff when called for ice and later, tea bags.

“Excellent hotel overall, however, staff should have called to say they would be unable to bring ice, and then later on, we called for tea bags and neither time, ever received response.”

• We could see the state Capitol from our window.
• The parking garage ($12 a day) was full and valet parking ($18) was slow.

“Service was terrible, and I would not stay here again. We arrived at 11:30 p.m. and could not find a place to park even just to register. After registering and finding the tiny garage full, we decided to use the valet, but waited maybe 15 minutes for someone to show up. Then we went up to our room, but immediately asked for a nonsmoking room. The front desk said they'd send someone up with a new key, although I offered to go down and get it. After half an hour, I called again and was again told someone would be right up. After another half hour, I called again and the person answering didn't know why I was calling. After finally getting keys to a new room, we discovered there were no sheets for the sofa bed. We called downstairs and were told someone would be right up. You guessed it - after half an hour, we called again and were told someone would be right up. We finally got our sheets (although not the extra blanket we had also requested) at 3 a.m. After that, there was a 10- to 15-minute wait every day when we tried to retrieve or leave our car with the valet. Sometimes there was only one person working the valet desk, and that person was doing double-duty driving the courtesy van. (Also, the hotel's Web site says the bathrooms in the suites are accessible from the bedroom and the living room, but this is not true.).”

“This hotel has an excellent location but in the room that I was assigned found chipped and cracked tile in the bathroom with mold. Bathroom sink also did not drain well. Very comfortable beds. Valet attendant very nice. Would stay here again.”

“The desk clerk was great. I asked for a non-smoking room with a view. He was able to accommodate me. I would not want to park in that garage late at night. There was no attendant. If I stay there again, I will use the valet service.”

“When we arrived, we were told we could not get the beds we requested, which is fine. We understood that, but instead of 1 king or 2 queens plus a sofa bed, we were given 1 queen bed and a sofa bed. I have never been in a hotel in my life that did not have a king or 2 queens/doubles as the bed choices. 1 queen is just not acceptable. Fine for a business traveler, but no families groups or couples. And the bed we did have was unbelievably uncomfortable.”

• Ideal location near the center of the action but not so close you cannot escape.
• Breakfast is overpriced for the quality.

“Great location a short walk to a good local English bar (Nothing fancy) "The Dog and Duck" with a fine selection of beers, also very short walk to a fantastic Indian Restaurant "The Clay Pot". Staff very friendly and underground parking available at Hotel, which is good in Austin as parking can be an issue. Rooms are very comfortable and would be great to an extended stay or a family vacation.”

• I was put into a king suite and treated very well with cookies and helpful staff members.
• My room was right next to the elevator, but it was that bad to be honest.

“The Doubletree was wonderful. I had a full King Suite, which I did not expect. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The room has a few glitches, but nothing too badly. The view was wonderful. I would absolutely book at this hotel again.”

“Lovely suite hotel with large, nicely decorated 2 room suites. Living and Kitchen areas separate from large bedroom. TVs in both rooms. Many amenities provided. Common areas are small but nice. Parking is expensive in underground garage. Walking distance to Capital but not to downtown restaurants and clubs.”

• The hotel staff was very friendly, I was in Austin for a benefit, and they offered to take us there in with their shuttle bus.

• The size of the room coupled with the views, along with the breakfast buffet.
• The room should have had a king size bed rather than a Queen size that would have been perfect.

• Delicious hot cookies when you arrive.
• Smoking floors smell horrible.

“When I arrived I told them that I am allergic to cigarette smoke. They said that they were booked and that I had no choice but to stay in a smoking room. They had meet go into 5 rooms that were smoking to see if I could tolerate the smoke. I told them that I couldn't not. This went on for about 40 minutes. After this I politely told them that there was no way that I could stay in smoking room.”

“Perfectly fine 3* hotel. Nothing special. Rooms haven't been updated in a while, but the suite is large with a full kitchen. Would not want to pay rack rate for this one.”
